9. Chapter 9 (Olivia) #3

"Agent Harrington?" A familiar voice calls out. "Detective Grant says the cabin's secure. Chen's in custody."

Noah's shoulders relax slightly, but he doesn't lower his gun. "Confirmation code?"

"Damascus sunrise."

He exhales slowly, finally lowering his weapon. "We're clear."

But are we? The question burns in my throat as I watch him interact with the tactical team, giving orders, coordinating with Grant over their radios.

This is a side of him I've never seen—or maybe I just never let myself see it.

The operative. The soldier. The man who killed Dr. Kazemi and led Jessica to her death.

The man who says he loves me.

"Olivia." He turns back to me, and I see every version of him in his eyes—the protector, the betrayer, the liar, the lover. "I know you have no reason to trust me. But right now, I need you to come with me. Let me explain everything. Please."

I look at him—really look at him. At the scars that map his skin like a history of violence. At the hands that have both killed and caressed. At the eyes that have seen too much and still manage to look at me like I'm salvation.

"Okay," I hear myself say. "But this time, I want the whole truth. Every ugly detail. Every choice you made. Everything."

His expression is equal parts relief and terror. "Even if it makes you hate me?"

"I already hate you," I lie, and we both know it. "So start talking."

Because the truth is, I don't hate him. I don't trust him either. But as he leads me toward whatever comes next, his hand warm in mine, I realize something that terrifies me more than any of Chen's revelations:

I love him too.

God help me, I love him too.

The bunker door closes behind us with a sound like destiny. Like a choice. Like the beginning of a truth I'm not sure I'm ready to hear, but one I need more than air.

And then his lips are on mine, gentle at first, then hungry, desperate. I kiss him back with equal fervor, pouring all my emotions into the connection—fear, anger, love, trust. It's a mess of contradictions, but it's real. It's us.

His hands tangle in my hair, holding me close as our bodies press together. I can feel his heart racing, matching the rhythm of my own. This isn't just a kiss; it's a promise, a vow. It's everything we've been holding back, finally set free.

We stumble toward the bed, our lips never parting. His hands roam my body, familiar yet exploring, as if he's memorizing every curve, every line. I tug at his shirt, needing to feel his skin against mine. He breaks away long enough to pull it off, then his mouth is back on mine, hot and insistent.

I push him onto the bed, straddling him as I pull off my own shirt. His eyes darken with desire as he looks up at me, his hands gripping my hips. I lean down, my hair falling around us like a curtain, shielding us from the world.

"Olivia," he whispers, my name a prayer on his lips.

I kiss him again, deeply, completely. His hands slide up my back, unhooking my bra. I let it fall away, reveling in the feel of his chest against mine. His breath hitches as I grind against him, the friction sending waves of pleasure through both of us.

He flips us over, pinning me beneath him. His mouth leaves mine to trail kisses down my neck, my collarbone, my breast. I arch into him, gasping as his tongue circles my nipple, his teeth gently nipping.

His hand slides between my legs, rubbing me through my jeans. I moan, my hips lifting to meet his touch. He undoes the button, the zipper, his fingers dipping beneath the waistband of my panties.

"Noah," I gasp, my body aching for more.

He slides my jeans down, his mouth following the path of the fabric. He kisses my thighs, my calves, my ankles as he undresses me. Then he's back between my legs, his breath hot against my core.

His tongue finds me, teasing, tasting. I cry out, my hands fisting in his hair.

He takes his time, bringing me to the edge again and again before finally sending me over.

My body shudders with release, but he doesn't stop.

He continues his assault, drawing out my pleasure until I'm panting and begging for him.

He stands, shedding the rest of his clothes before joining me on the bed. He covers my body with his, his mouth finding mine. I can taste myself on his lips, a heady mix of desire and need.

His hips settle between my thighs, his length pressing against me. I wrap my legs around him, urging him closer. He enters me slowly, his eyes never leaving mine. It's intimate, intense, a connection deeper than anything I've ever felt.

We move together, our bodies in sync. Each thrust brings us closer, each kiss binds us tighter. The bunker fades away, the world outside ceases to exist. There's only this, only us.

His pace quickens, his breath coming in ragged gasps. I cling to him, my nails digging into his back as my body tightens around him. He kisses me deeply, swallowing my cries as we both find release.

"Start with Damascus," I say as we descend into the darkness. "Start at the beginning."

And he does.
