Chapter 10 #2

Instantly Leo’s hands were on him again, this time helping Cody out of the underwear he’d just struggled to pull on. The smell of slick immediately permeated the room, and Cody hid his face in his arm, shame and embarrassment coursing through him.

“None of that,” Leo said, squeezing Cody’s thigh as two of his fingers found Cody’s entrance, where he was already soft and warm and open. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Cody, being an omega is nothing to be ashamed of.”

“E-easy for you to say,” Cody gritted out.

“You don’t have—” he broke off with a moan as Leo breached him, testing his readiness, and it took a second for Cody to remember what he was saying.

“Don’t have everyone in the league out for you, press always talking about how you’re not g-good enough—fuck! ”

Leo stilled above him, having withdrawn his fingers, presumably so he could replace them with his cock. “Cody?”

“It’s okay,” Cody made himself say, even though he was burning up. “It’s fine, I’m fine—”

Except Leo was…he was moving away. He was moving away.

Cody’s alpha was leaving him. In the middle of his heat, when Cody was the most vulnerable. When he was already hurting this much, and how much worse would it be once Leo was gone?

No, no, no, please, no.

Cody tried to coordinate his limbs so he could follow, but he was back to feeling leaden.

No—like molten lead was coursing through his veins.

“Please,” he begged. “Please don’t leave me, I-I’m sorry, I didn’t—” his vision was blurry, and he couldn’t make out Leo’s shape anymore.

Was he already gone? “Please tell me what I did wrong, please don’t leave me like this,” Cody sobbed, doing his best to curl up into a ball.

“I’m not leaving,” came Leo’s urgent voice, and it sounded like maybe he had been repeating himself. “I’m not leaving sweetheart, shh, I would never leave you like. I-I just had to get undressed. You didn’t do anything wrong, and I’m not leaving you. Skin contact will just be better for you.”

“Oh,” Cody sniffed, feeling pathetic. “Okay.”

Suddenly Leo’s hands were on him again, stroking up Cody’s sides and then down to Cody’s legs. Everywhere Leo touched cooled slightly, but just the touch wasn’t enough to calm the raging inferno inside Cody’s body.

“Leo,” Cody said, and it sounded like begging again. “I—I need—”

“I know, I know,” Leo said. “Here, let’s roll you onto your side, okay?”

Cody nodded desperately and did his best. A moment later Leo was slotting up behind him and Cody could feel Leo’s cock pressed to his entrance. A heartbeat after that and Leo was pushing inside.

Tears came to Cody’s eyes again, but this time they were ones born of relief. Just having Leo inside him made the pain of the heatwave die down. He didn’t know why and he probably should, but right now all he could do was try to quiet his sobs as his body stopped trying to turn itself inside out.

Distantly, Cody registered Leo making soothing noises, words of praise dripping from his tongue and he kissed Cody’s hair and stroked over Cody’s skin. All the while buried in Cody’s hole. Not thrusting, not moving at all just…staying there, with Cody keeping him warm.

It felt like exactly what Cody needed. After hurting so fucking much, he didn’t…really want to be fucked. He wanted to be held. For Leo to be as close to Cody as he could get.

Which lying together like this was, pretty much.

I want to have this, popped into Cody’s head as tears streamed down his cheeks. I want to have this without hurting and I want Leo with me always and I want to deserve him and—

And I’m so lucky that he loves me. I’m so fucking lucky.

Cody didn’t know how much time had passed when Leo’s hands stopped moving, and Leo murmured, “how are you feeling?”

“Better,” Cody said meekly, wiping at his face. “So, so much better.”

“That’s good,” Leo said, sounding relieved. “That’s—that’s good.”

“Could we…” Cody stopped. Was that too selfish to ask of Leo?

For Leo to just hold him like this, and not…

fuck him? It was just that Cody was exhausted.

He knew Leo would make the sex good, but Cody was sore from his muscles tensing, tired from the whole day.

He could feel the need in his body, but it was latent. He was…he was hard, and he didn’t care.

“What is it?” Leo prompted after Cody was silent too long. “Could we what, sweetheart?”

Cody swallowed. “Could…could we just go back to sleep like this? You could fuck me in the morning,” he was quick to add. “If you want to. Or—or whenever, tomorrow, if you wanted to come by after morning skate—”

“Cody, I’m not going to morning skate,” Leo said. Cody could hear disbelief in his voice. “I’m not leaving you in the middle of your heat. Not when you’re fucking collapsing the moment I’m out of your sightline.”

Cody’s cheeks heated with shame. “I’m sorry.”

“You have nothing to be sorry for,” Leo said, giving Cody a squeeze. “You’re not guilting me into staying. I care about you and, at least for this heat, I am your alpha. I would never leave while you’re hurting, knowing that I could be with you and be making things better.”

“I…I was going to call Hen first thing tomorrow,” Cody said. “To tell her I can’t make skate, and…and explain some of why.”

“I think that’s a really good idea,” Leo said, kissing Cody’s hair again. “And then maybe you could contact your doctor?”

“Yeah,” Cody sighed. Not something he’d at all be looking forward to, especially since he knew Leo wouldn’t be happy with some choice details about Cody’s doctor. “Yeah, okay.”
