Chapter 40

Chapter Forty

Harlow

A whimper escapes me when I feel Corbin shift above me. “That was very stupid of you,” he sneers, pressing the weight of his naked body against me. His bares his teeth and uses his hand to sweep my hair away from my neck.

I press closer to the dirt, not liking the feel of his naked body crushing mine, feeling every outline of muscle against me. His cock thrusts against my ass as he scrapes his teeth down my shoulder.

“Is this what you want, Harlow? To be fucked in the dirt, on display for the rogues to see?” he asks, rocking his hips against my ass. I grit my teeth and shake my head.

Corbin flips me onto my back, pressing himself flush against me.

His tongue slides up my cheek and across my lips.

“I’m going to make you bleed, make you scream.

And you're going to love it,” he purrs, using his Calling on me.

It makes my skin crawl, yet my body still reacts to the sound, turning languid beneath him.

Tears burn my eyes. He is not my mate. He is not them.

I will never complain about them using their Calling on me again if the Moon Goddess gets me out of this mess.

Corbin nips at my neck and chin. I grit my teeth, refusing to give into his Calling, no matter how much it makes every part of me throb.

Corbin licks my lips, and I press them more tightly closed.

He grips my chin, making me whimper and forcing my jaw open.

He shoves his tongue in my mouth, tasting every inch, brutally assaulting it.

Tears prick my eyes, and I do the only thing I can think of. I bite down hard.

Corbin jerks back. His hand fists my hair, making me squeal as he viciously jerks my head to the side.

“I was planning on being gentle, just marking and fucking you. But now I will let all seven of my mates run a train on you. In every fucking hole you’ve got.

” He snarls and spits his blood in my face.

I glare at him despite the pain as he tugs the hair from my scalp.

“There are two things you need to learn, Omega. You are nothing but a toy, here to satiate my needs and those of my mates. And two, I own every inch of you.”

“Wrong,” I growl defiantly. He fists my hair tighter, but I continue through the pain. “You own nothing, not even your own life. Because Thane is gonna take it,” I snarl at him. He laughs. I hear more laughter above me and realize his mates have arrived, surrounding us.

“Is that so, Harlow? I don’t see Thane here,” he says, motioning around us and laughing.

“You’re right. He isn’t here… yet.” Corbin’s laugh cuts off at my words. “He’ll come for me. And you know it. When he does, he’ll show you exactly what happens when someone touches his property. I am Thane’s. And you… you are dead,” I spit at him.

His eyes darken, and he growls, pulling me up by my hair and throwing me to his mates. I am shoved back toward the tunnels as one of them grips my arm tightly, his hold bruising.

I find myself back in the library as Corbin shoves me through the door. A shiver runs up my spine as a draft from the tunnels wafts over me, and I squint at the bright lights. Talon’s head and shoulders drop when I walk back into the room, just as Corbin’s phone rings.

“Watch her!” he snarls to his mates as he walks off to take the call.

Slater shuts the bookcase behind us and nudges me toward Talon.

I sit on the floor next to him, our shoulders touching as he tries to remain upright, clutching his stomach.

Talon needs blood, I lift my wrist, draping it over his shoulder.

Talon shakes his head as Kingsley growls at me.

“Move your arm. Try to feed him, and I kill him,” he snarls. I let my arm fall and grip his knee.

Lifting my gaze, I see Bree glaring at me from across the room. She’s sitting in an armchair, her clothes drenched in blood. I blink at her, wondering what her issue is, besides being a sadistic bitch. I don’t have to wait long before she voices them, shooting a glare at Talon.

“I can’t believe you would risk everything for her,” Bree snarls at him.

Looking down at Talon, I see he is bleeding profusely. I reach over, moving the cloth he is clutching against his stomach. I gasp when I see the bone knife handle protruding from him.

“I’ll be fine,” he chokes out, dropping his head to my shoulder. He doesn’t seem fine to me.

“Fine? You nearly got yourself killed. I did not risk everything for you to throw it away for her,” Bree snarls.

“Enough, Bree,” Talon coughs.

“No! I am your mate!” she screams. She leans forward in her seat, lips parting to yell at him some more. Can she not see he is fucking dying beside me? All she wants is to berate him.

“Oh, just shut the fuck up!” I snap, sick of her whining. Bree stands in a fury, baring her teeth at me. “That shade of jealousy you’re wearing really doesn’t suit you. It’s a little off-putting,” I tell her.

Bree quickly stalks across the room. Slater moves from his post by the wall, but he is too late. Her hand connects with my face, and my head snaps to the side, but I am too angry and too wired to feel it right now.

Her slap splits my lip. I wipe a hand across my mouth and shake my head as Slater rips her back by her shirt. Bree ignores him, pointing an accusing finger at me.

“I was good to you. I gave you a job. I was your friend. And you dare speak to me like that!” She curses. I scoff at her words and turn my attention back to Talon just as Corbin returns. He opens the door to the tunnels again.
