Epilogue

Sabrina

Six Months Later…

“You’re not ready,” Brax growls at me before stepping inside the bedroom. “The show starts in twenty minutes.”

I smile at him through the mirror of my vanity, shivering at the heated gaze in his piercing eyes. It’s always like this when I get dressed, has been since I moved in with him shortly after the Milo Incident as I now think of it. “They can’t start without me,” I say and stand, stepping inside the enormous walk-in closet that’s hardly full at all but only because I refuse to let him buy me a new wardrobe. “I got caught up in the dark room,” I say as I slip into the silky purple dress I bought special for tonight.

“Of course you did,” he replies with a smile in his voice.

“I got some great shots today. I just can’t believe this is happening.” It still doesn’t feel real and I know it won’t until we arrive at the gallery.

“I’m proud of you, Sweeting. You worked hard to get a gallery interested in your work. It’s a good thing you have a supportive boyfriend who convinced you to leave the bistro.”

I roll my eyes but I smile. “I’m doubly lucky because my man is the best.”

His gaze darkens and he pulls me flush against his chest the moment I step out of the closet. “Damn right he is. You look good enough to eat, Sweeting.”

I press a kiss to his lips before taking a step back. “You can eat your fill after the show.” I smile at his unhappy groan.

“Or we can take the limo and I can lick your pussy until you come before we arrive.”

My legs buckle at his words. “Tempting.”

He flashes a wicked smile. “I always get my way. You know that.”

I do know that because that’s who Brax it, but his ability to compromise only makes me love him more. He wanted to use his influence to get me a gallery showing but I refused and submit my portfolio blind because I want to succeed on my own, not because of who I love. “When I let you.”

His nostrils flare and his jaw clenches. “I guess we’ll see. Let’s go.”

The gallery is packed when we arrive and suddenly I’m very grateful for the orgasm on the way here because suddenly I’m very nervous. There’s a lot of security but only because there are a lot of wealthy, important people here. “You did this.”

“No, I only let it be known that I would be attending tonight’s showing. Nothing more.”

The night is a whirlwind as I meet tons of art lovers, patrons and other artists in Queens City. The night is perfect. Absolutely perfect.

“Congratulations, Sabrina. You’ve officially sold out.” The gallery owner smiles. “Enjoy this evening but next week we should talk about your next show.” She walks away and I’m so excited I can hardly breathe.

“Brax, did you hear that?”

“I did,” he nods, smiling sweetly. “And I only bought one.”

I toss my head back and laugh. “Thank you, Brax. For being amazing and supportive. For just being you and helping me make my dreams come true.”

“Thank you,” he whispers. “For being my dream come true.”

“Brax,” I sigh. “How did I get so lucky to fall in love with the man in the world?”

“I don’t know but we have our entire lives to figure it out,” he says gently, pulling me in for a sweet kiss that quickly burns white-hot. “Marry me, Sabrina Sweeting. Marry me and let’s spend our life enjoying being the luckiest fuckers on the planet for having this amazing love. Be my wife, my best girl and the mother of our kids. Be my everything, Sweeting. Please.”

I gasp and pull back to look at his face which is deadly serious. It’s not a joke and there between his thumb and forefinger is a gorgeous diamond ring sparkling in the overhead lights. “You already are my everything, Brax, so it’s only fair that I get to be yours. I love you and I can’t wait to be your wife.”

His handsome face morphs into a smile that makes him look boyish rather than roguish as he slides the ring onto my finger. He flips my hand over and kisses my palm and then my wrist. The crook of my arm. “We can be in Vegas by midnight,” he says, only half teasing.

I can’t help but laugh because this man, the most respected and feared man in the city is so eager to marry me that he’s willing to fly off tonight to make it happen. “Let’s do it.”

He frowns. “You don’t want a dress and a big white wedding?”

“Yes to the dress and I’m sure I can find one when we get there. All I need is you. And my maid of honor.”

His lips twitch before they spread into a full blown smile as he pulls out his phone. “She said yes. Find Angie because the four of us are going to Vegas. Tonight.” He’s smiling at me and nodding at whatever Rocco is saying. “Yep. Tonight.”

“You’re amazing, Brax.”

“No, it’s my fiancée who’s amazing,” he growls and pulls me in close, wrapping his arms around me. “I can still taste you on my tongue. You’re wearing my ring. How the fuck did I get so lucky?”

“By just being you, Merciless.” I kiss him again, my heart so full it’s making me cry. Falling for a Kingpin wasn’t in my five year plan but now he’s at the top of my forever plan.
