Epilogue
”So, what are we going to do today?” I ask, breaking the silence.
”Well, we could go for a hike,” Natalie suggests. ”I heard about a beautiful trail nearby that I”ve been wanting to try.”
”Sounds like a plan,” I agree. ”I”ll let you get into the shower first.
She looks at me with a sly smile. ”You could get in with me and it would take us half as long to get ready.”
I laugh a deep belly laugh and soon Natalie is laughing, too. ”You know it would take twice as long with the sex and all.”
”Yeah, that could slow things down.”
I help Natalie up from the bed, my hands gentle on her skin. ”You go first and I”ll get in when you”re out.” I bob my head toward the bathroom and she heads in that direction.
As I hear the shower run knowing Natalie is in there, I feel a sense of peace wash over me. This is everything I”ve dreamed of. And as I peek into the open door of the bathroom, with the warm water cascading down Natalie”s body, I envision that view every day for the rest of my life. I”m one happy man.
Once we’re dressed and ready, we head out for our hike. The trail is breathtaking, with towering trees and a crystal-clear stream running alongside it. We walk hand in hand, enjoying the beauty of nature and each other”s company.
”I”m so glad I found you,” she says.
I smile at her, my eyes filled with love. ”I”m glad I found you, too. It’s crazy that in less than a year you’ve captivated me and now I can’t imagine my life without you.”
She leans in and kisses me, smiling as she pulls away.
We continue our hike, chatting and laughing, our hearts filled with love and happiness. As we reach the end of the trail, we sit down on a large rock, taking in the vastness of the mountains around us.
”Today has been so perfect and I almost can”t believe it,” I say, my voice low.
Leaning in for a kiss I confirm her sentiment. ”I agree. It’s been a great day. And I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
We sit there for a while longer, just enjoying the moment. As a few puffy clouds move across the blue sky, I relish just being with her in the little joys of life.
As we walk back to the inn, hand in hand, I feel a sense of contentment wash over me. Our happily ever after is well underway. Life is going to be filled with love, laughter, and adventure. And once again, I feel like the luckiest man in the world.
