Chapter 10 Brother at the Door
I got out of the car, but Zhao Zhuli did not follow.
He seemed to notice my confused look and explained, "Boss has a cleanliness obsession. He does not like people entering his home casually."
I nodded. The work matter must have been urgent enough that he had to keep me here to avoid any trouble.
Boss's home was mostly black, just as dull as he was. It was hard to picture him dating anyone.
Still, it was not my place, so I hung up the keys and sat quietly on the sofa.
Staying here felt like being locked up with nothing to do. Out of boredom, I opened the chat with Online Boyfriend.
He replied to my earlier message after more than ten minutes.
"I'm fine."
The reply was short. Something about it felt off.
I was still thinking of how to answer when the doorbell rang.
Had Boss not said there was an emergency?
He had barely left and already returned. Was he messing with me?
I would complain about this later.
I fixed my appearance and opened the door with a smile.
It was not Boss's blank face. Instead, a man in bright red clothes grinned at me, even his shoes red. His eyes narrowed with a playful smirk.
"Gu Yu'an, is she the one? Is she Xu Ning?"
His first words left me stunned.
Who was his brother?
Before I could speak, Boss's cold face appeared behind him.
"Get lost. Lie to me with work again and you will not return to this country."
He walked inside without another glance at his brother.
I stepped back to give them space. So Boss had not even introduced his family to his girlfriend yet.
"Gu Yu'an, you said no one could enter your place because of your severe cleanliness obsession."
"You are even wearing matching outfits! Do not try to fool me."
Boss's expression darkened. I backed up again, worried they might fight.
From behind Boss, I gave his brother a meaningful look.
He caught it right away.
"Xu Ning is signaling me from back there."
Since Boss blocked him from entering, he turned his attention to me.
Hearing that, Boss finally showed a hint of impatience and glanced over.
I shook my head quickly.
"Xu Ning, do not be scared. My brother used to watch female streamers every day and tipped them—"

Before he finished, Boss closed the door without expression.
The speed was startling.
I had not expected someone as proper as Boss to tip female streamers while dating. What a scumbag.
I glared at his back.
When Boss rubbed his temples and turned, I immediately covered my conscience and swore I would not tell any colleagues.
He stared at me for a long moment before sighing and heading to the study.
My worry eased a little. That look had not been about silencing me, right?
I watched the study door for several seconds. Only after confirming he was not coming out did I open the chat again.
"My boss is a scumbag! He is dating someone but still tips female streamers."
"Disgusting."
