Chapter 8 The Keys
During the one hundred and twenty minutes of the movie I sat with my back perfectly straight.
In the darkness the Boss's breath occasionally brushed past my ear, making my fingertips tingle.
The moment the lights came on at the end I almost fled to my feet.
"Boss, I…… need to go to the restroom."
"Mm," the Boss's voice was low and hoarse. "I will wait for you at the exit."
While heading to the restroom I quickly messaged my Online Boyfriend.
"Online Boyfriend! I think someone is targeting me. Help. What should I do?"
A minute after sending the message there was still no reply.
Recently his replies took longer and longer. He had not sent a single message during the entire one hundred and twenty minutes of the movie.
I sighed, finished washing my hands, and walked out only to see the Boss panting at the restroom entrance.
"Boss, are you in a hurry to use the restroom too?"
I had never seen the Boss look this anxious. I instinctively stepped aside to make way.
The moment I moved a little distance I was pulled back.
"Are you okay?"
An arm was grabbed tightly. I felt confused.
I shook my head.
"There is an urgent project I need to handle. You are tired today. Take my keys and rest at my place for a while."
As soon as he finished speaking a set of keys was placed in my hand.
This felt like a superior handing over a room card.
But the Boss looked too upright. The thought disappeared at once.
"No one is home. It is clean."
I nodded. At least I did not have to follow the Boss out to work. Resting in the villa sounded good.
After giving instructions the Boss took a taxi and left.
Was he in that much of a hurry? He could not even wait for his own luxury car.
A few minutes later Assistant Zhao drove the Boss's car over.
Luxury cars really were different. Sitting in one felt much more comfortable.
"Assistant Zhao, does the Boss have a girlfriend?"
If he did then he probably was not interested in me.
Assistant Zhao adjusted his glasses and spoke carefully, remaining polite to me.
"The Boss is indeed seeing someone."
It was true. Someone was actually willing to date him?
He was just an ice block with a poisonous mouth.
