Ihave so much on my mind the next morning, and Shine is a priority. I dress quietly and head downstairs for coffee before I go have a talk with her. She can’t miss church today and needs to know that.

Skye gestures to a chair. “Better sit for a minute. I hate like hell to be telling you this, but word in bunny land is that Hawg went back to his club yesterday, fucked a bunny, and then came back here. Not that it’s not allowed, just wanted you to know.”

It shouldn’t hit so hard or hurt so bad, but it does. It’s my own damn fault though. I should have known he was the same as most of the fucking men around here, but the same fucking day? The guy’s got stamina that’s for damn sure and I can’t really blame the bunny for bragging it up.

But word travels fast, and a bunny tells another bunny, who tells a dancer, who just happens to be friends with Skye and I get a sit down first thing this morning when I come downstairs, all while the asshole still sleeps in my bed.

I shrug it off, pouring a large mug of coffee. “We’re not a thing, Skye. We were just blowing off some steam after a long day. It’s allowed.”

Her eyes narrow, and she doesn’t say a word, but my guess is I’m not fooling her at all.

She and the others were the ones that saw how wrecked I was when I found out my ex was cheating, and why my rule for no dating.

And now the first time I break my fucking rule about sleeping with someone in our circle, he’s sleeping with me and a bunny on the same damn day.

I bottle my emotions. It’s worked for me since I was young, and it’ll work for me now. “Has Shine come down? Anyone tell her church got moved up to later today?”

Yeah, Brandy saw Shine this morning before I got up. She came down for breakfast and Brandy told her about church and that we weren’t supposed to leave without one of the guys.”

“Good.” I take a long sip of my coffee, robust and strong just like I like it.

“I’ll go see if she’ll talk to me. Maybe she’s cooled down and I can find out what was going on.

I don’t buy for a minute that she was taking some asshole’s hits for no reason.

I mean, this is Shine we’re talking about. She could knock a motherfucker out.”

Skye nods, but she’s already back into the keyboard, adding up numbers because she’s the one that has to present at church this evening, and we’re going to have to find a way to keep the cash coming in if we’re not able to run trips between here and Tucson or Vegas, or take in women for Duchess until this thing with the Scorpions and Desert Riders blows over.

I reach the top of the steps and glance in the direction of my room. I should dump my coffee on the fucking asshole. Maybe that would wake him up and get him out of my bed. Instead, I pass it and head down to Shine’s, giving her door a rap.

No answer.

Still with the silent treatment but I’ve had just about enough of this.

I go to jiggle her doorknob, but it turns and opens into her bedroom.

Her fucking empty bedroom. I head downstairs, take a few gulps of my coffee, and grab my vest and helmet without bothering to find Skye in the kitchen rattling around.

She must have decided she needed another coffee to tackle that math, but time is of the essence, and I need to go.

Outside, I expect to see Shine’s bike gone, but I don’t.

That means one thing. Someone picked her up and I have no clue who it is, but as soon as I find out they are going to pay.

I walk my bike a short way, far enough to keep prying eyes of the other Harlots and Royal Bastards out of my business, and then kick it into gear.
