Chapter Fifteen
Outside The Office
Saturday
Morning
To say that she was pissed would be an understatement, and when Hart found Bishop, she was pacing back and forth in the parking lot. From the tension in her body, and the look on her face, there was no doubt that she was about ready to light the man’s office on fire.
And dance around it naked.
Since they already had witches who liked that kind of shit, and the media would have a field day, he tried to calm her down.
Before they were investigating another murder.
Doctor Leon Kenyon’s.
Because in order to get Bishop Monroe this angry, you really had to try hard. It was a damn good thing that she’d not caught the last part of the conversation.
“Bish, breathe,” he said, angry himself at the man for not only helping destroy a family, but also a man’s life post his wife’s death.
Well, while his suggestion was helpful, she was struggling with that.
Honestly, she was trying.
“Get it off your chest. Just say it. You know you can trust me to be here for you. You’re family.”
That was the ONLY reason she was about to vent.
“Lucian and Ridge came to us,” she said.
“They both came to us and asked if we were good with it. They were willing to abort that mission by just not letting it happen. She said yes. I was there. She told her husband it was fine. What happened in the static was not on this plane! She could have told them no! She could have told me she was upset! I would have told them for her!”
Hart let her talk.
It was clear that she was torn between her love for Wynter, and the two men who were going to likely wear the guilt on this one.
“The men specifically said they wouldn’t do it if it upset either one of us!”
Hart had a question.
“Does it bother you?” he asked. “Because I’d have a hard time with it. If I found out Lennox was having sex with some other man…”
She stopped him.
“First, no. I trust my husband, and I love Ridge. I know that their gift is reliant on certain things. Secondly, my husband isn’t fucking a woman in the static.
He’s fucking Ridge. To me, that’s a whole different thing.
If your wife said she wanted to have sex with a woman, what would you do?
” she asked him. “Not a dude, but a lady?”
That was easy.
He laughed.
“I’d say what every man would. Could I watch?” he joked, trying to calm the woman down. She was pregnant and her blood pressure was up. He could see her aura.
She went there.
“Would it upset you?”
Hart considered it.
Honestly, it wouldn’t. Another man would insult his masculinity, and he’d question what she saw in someone other guy. A lady, he’d understand because tits were awesome, and if he liked them, and she liked them, it wasn’t like he could grow them.
“If she wasn’t leaving me, I wouldn’t care as much as I would with a man. I’m not saying I’d let it happen, but I’d be more open if she was honest with me. Lying to me is a big problem, IF my wife could lie and I didn’t know.”
She pointed.
“EXACTLY. That’s one more reason it doesn’t bother me.
I’m not being replaced. I asked Lucian point-blank if I was, and he said no.
I trust him. I also know he loves Ridge.
Like, genuinely loves him. It’s not just to fulfill an itch, but because his heart recognizes who he is to him.
We both knew that because neither man has ever pretended it’s not there. ”
Hart played devil’s advocate.
It sucked that he had to, but for them to work this, they had to look at every angle.
“But Wynter might not have seen it that way. It clearly pissed her off.”
She was aware.
To have an affair to get revenge was a whole other level of spite. Yesterday, when she found out that Ridge and Lucian had had sex on this plane, cheating on her husband to make him pay had NEVER occurred to her.
NOT.
ONCE.
That Wynter wanted to inflict pain…
That sucked.
“And then at any point, she could have told Ridge. Lucian built a meditation room for them. It’s a man shed behind our homes.
They both had an open-door policy where we could go in and talk or watch if we needed reassuring.
She never once said a word about it. We’ve all watched them go into the static. They come out like they go in.”
Well, they did until the sex magick happened here, too.
Hart sighed.
“He’s going to be hurt. Lucian is going to feel guilty, and Ridge is going to be decimated. This is not a good place to be for those of us who know.”
Oh, there was no doubt.
“Someone has to tell him,” she said, as they both saw Honor heading their way.
In her hand, there was a paper.
“What’s that?” she asked.
The cop smiled ferally.
“A list of all of his clients. It seems he’s scared that I’m going to out him, so he opted to skip the ‘get a warrant’ bullshittery and go right to cooperation.”
“And are you?” Hart asked.
She smiled.
FERALLY.
“Absofuckinglutely. He had sex with a patient. I’m going to get his license pulled, but first, I figured we’d use this to our advantage.
Doctor Kenyon is out of business as soon as we find this person.
Because he hurt my bestie,” she said, pointing at Bishop, “and made it sound like it was their fault, I’m going to enact my pound of flesh.
I’m spiteful like that. Someone’s business is going to be closed down. ”
“Did he say more about my husband after I left?” Bishop asked.
Honor didn’t hesitate.
“Nope. I just always have your back, Bishop.”
The woman glanced over at Hart.
“That wasn’t a lie. She’s telling the truth,” he said, absolutely seeing that was a lie, but this was one that didn’t need to come to light.
He’d been in there when he blamed Ridge’s boyfriend. Bishop wasn’t losing this baby on their watch.
Oh.
Hell.
No.
“See?” Honor said, grateful to the man for knowing when to lie to protect someone.
Bishop calmed down.
Marginally.
Now, she didn’t have to go back in there and beat the man’s ass like she really wanted to.
“We need to tell Julian and Tori,” Bishop admitted. “We all need to be on the same page.”
That was the truth. If they wanted to get ahead of this, they needed to be focused.
“I’m going to head back in, unless you need me more,” Hart said. “I want to make sure Lennox is okay with the kids. I don’t want to leave her unprotected, even if our home is pretty secure thanks to Raven.”
They both hugged him.
“Thank you for helping,” Honor stated. “I’ll deny saying this, but your psychic gift made that easier.”
He laughed.
“Damn. Did you choke on those words? Because you just gave me a compliment.”
She snorted.
“Go,” she stated, winking at him.
As Hart headed away, Bishop pulled out her phone. She began texting the Littlemoons so they could find a way to meet up to talk.
As she rattled off the text, she hit send.
‘We’re done with the doctor. We found something. Where are you?’
It didn’t take long to get the text back, proving that they were out doing their job too.
Good to know.
‘We are in the square, and about to head into the shop where the original medallions were bought. We want to see if we see anything that Wynter might have encountered. Meet us at the bakery across from it afterward. We can update each other. Tori.’
That worked for them.
As they began walking there, Honor was curious if her partner was going to be able to pull this off. She was twitchy, and that was anything but good.
Normally, that was her job.
“You don’t get pissed easily. What’s bothering you, cupcake?” she asked. “Other than the obvious.”
She sighed.
“I’m worried about Ridge. We’re going to have to tell him. He’s not going to handle it well. I also don’t like being in the middle of this. I’m married to Lucian, and I know what this all looks like.”
Oh, well, no doubt that it was going to be a shitshow. This was a huge mess thanks to a bunch of things—not just Lucian and Ridge being a couple in the static.
“Well, he needs to know about this for a plethora of reasons. We both saw him this morning, and he’s in a bad place. Despite what this might do, it’ll be worse if he finds out later.”
She knew her partner was right.
“He’s feeling guilty. This isn’t on him. This isn’t on Wynter either. She didn’t deserve to die because she was angry and made a bad choice.”
Bish was curious.
“Did we miss noticing she was angry?” she asked. “Because I had no fucking clue.”
Honor didn’t think so.
“Keep in mind, though, that we don’t spend all day at Littlemoon Investigations, so we could have missed it. Did Ridge mention he noticed her being off? Or Lucian?”
She shook her head.
“Not to me. All I know is Lucian said she was on birth control and they were ‘trying’ to have a baby. There were problems brewing, but I don’t think he knew how deep.
When he and Ridge go into the static, they’re connected at the mind.
Lucian would have felt anything off regarding Ridge and Wynter if the man was feeling it. ”
Honor went there.
“While I don’t blame Ridge for this, since Wynter made choices, we can’t not admit that him having sex with Lucian in the static plays a role in this. You don’t feel bad, do you?”
She shook her head.
“No. Like I said, I’m not upset.”
And she knew they’d had sex on this plane.
Maybe she needed therapy, but she legitimately was not jealous of Ridge and Lucian’s relationship. What she’d said to Hart had been legitimately how she felt.
What she was jealous about was that everyone else wasn’t going to have to break Ridge’s heart over this one.
And she would.
As they reached the square, they saw the witch shop and Tori and Julian inside.
“Let’s grab a coffee and sit outside the bakery. I hope no one gets punched today.”
Bishop looked over.
“You think Tori is going to punch someone?”
She laughed.
“I was talking about you, partner. Not a Littlemoon.”
Well, that was definitely accurately aimed at her.
Because she just might.
Meanwhile…
Five Minutes Earlier
When they got the text, Tori pulled her phone out and showed her husband.
