Chapter 14 #2

A shiver ran through me, and his eyes grazed over my body, heat igniting them and spreading to me. “Fucking beautiful.”

I rolled my lip between my teeth, ready to scold him again when his hand splayed across my stomach and shoved me down.

My back hit the countertop, his hands hit my thighs, his knees hit the floor.

He yanked me to him, and I closed my eyes to the velvety feel of his tongue.

He unraveled me within minutes, every flick of his tongue and twist of his finger, every heavy groan that came from him, summoned my climax more until it was a knotted mess ready to explode.

“That’s it, honey,” he rasped against me. “Come for me.”

The command sent my release barreling through me, obliterating me and all that I had been without him. The ice shattered, the control collapsed, and in its place was me, the woman Hudson had always made me. Free, worshiped, loved.

His kisses traced a path up my body, and when he dragged me up, I crashed into his chest, all strength stolen by his mouth. He gave me a lopsided grin before pulling me to him and kissing me. I curled my nose, and he chuckled, saying, “Taste what I do to you, Olivia.”

My stomach somersaulted, and I gave up on my attempt to not taste myself on him, remembering how he had always insisted I needed to know what he did to my body, as if I didn’t know by the complete havoc he wreaked on it.

His big hands took my bottom again, and he lifted me. I tucked my legs around him. His length pressed against me, and I shimmied on it, causing another chuckle from him.

“Greedy little thing, aren’t you?” He nipped my bottom lip as he carried me up the stairs.

I tightened my arms around his neck. “Do you really still love me?” I asked.

His jaw went rigid, and he repositioned me, climbing the final steps but not giving me an answer.

“Hudson?”

With a few strides, he peeled me from him, lowering me onto his bed and hovering over me with hooded eyes.

I swallowed, afraid I’d ruined the moment and uncertain why he’d suddenly turned quiet.

He brushed his fingers over my cheek, lowering to kiss me.

This kiss was different. Not the powerful, earth-shattering one like earlier.

This one was sensual, filled with yearning and emotion.

It threaded through me, repairing the raw wounds on my heart and reshaping my soul.

“I never stopped loving you, Olivia. Even when I hated you for what you did, I couldn’t stop. There has only ever been one woman who owned me, and that’s you. It’s always been you.”

Tears pressed behind my eyes.

“No more of that mushy shit. You’re going to ruin my hard-on.”

A laugh burst from me, and I yanked his face down, kissing him again.

His touches were strong yet reverent, his kisses a command that summoned my climax again, leaving it on the precipice waiting for him to claim it.

I tugged at his shirt, and he gave me a withering glare before pulling it over his head.

“What?” I asked.

“Don’t interrupt me.” His mouth returned to my breast, sucking my nipple into his mouth just as his fingers filled me again. My back bowed with my cry, my body shaking. I was so close to falling apart that my breaths were coming in shallow puffs. “Not yet, Olivia.”

My eyes snapped open as he lifted himself, leaving me desperate for him to return. He flicked his belt buckle open, followed by his top button, and excitement frolicked in my gut. Orbs of shadowed chestnut perused my body.

“You’re so fucking perfect,” he muttered, dropping his pants.

“You still love that word, don’t you?”

His eyes flicked back to mine. “Almost as much as I love you.” My inhale was violent, and he gave me a mischievous grin. “How do you want it, Olivia?”

I pursed my lips. “How do you normally have it, Hudson?”

He narrowed his eyes. “With a condom. How do you normally do it?”

I sat up, throwing my hair over my shoulder, and snagging his boxers, jerked him toward me. My hand encased him through the material, and he hissed as I stroked him.

“With a condom…but I have an IUD.” I looked up at him, seeing the flash of excitement in his eyes. He was the only one I’d ever let inside me without a condom. The only one I’d ever trusted enough to take the chance.

He shoved my hand aside and dropped his boxers. I drew a breath, having forgotten just how large he was. A haughty smile let me know he knew what I was thinking.

“Get that ass back on the bed and spread those legs for me. I’m ready to stake my claim on that body again.”

I scooted back just as he crawled over me, forcing my back to the bed as his lips met mine. Fire coursed through me, an inferno raging that only intensified when he nudged at my entrance. A growl rumbled through him as he sank further into me, giving me time to adjust to him.

“Fuck,” he said when he filled me, his voice so hoarse it came out in broken syllables.

“You really need a new word.”

“Not when it turns you on this much. You’re soaked.”

I dug my fingers into his back as he moved, too enraptured to reply and tell him it wasn’t just his words, it was him. He did this to me, leaving me weakened like putty in his hands. He always had.

With every thrust, my climax rebuilt, edged on with his heavy breaths, his touches, his mouth.

Every touch was worshipping, every moan an affirmation that I belonged to him.

An affirmation that I’d always been his and a reminder that I always would be.

As his pace hastened, he murmured, “Come with me, Olivia. Show me who owns you.”

With a strangled cry, my release hit in a series of convulsions that rocked my body and took him over the edge with me. He grunted, holding my arms so tight I knew I’d have bruises. The wound from my tumble in the rain throbbed, but it only added to the intensity as ecstasy washed through me.

With uneven breaths, Hudson dropped his head to mine.

Our eyes stayed locked, our bodies still one, and my chest thudded, reaching for his, for its other half.

We remained like that, frozen as the aftershocks of my release reverberated through me.

He lowered his mouth to mine, his kiss leaving me even more debilitated.

“I missed that,” he muttered, lifting his mouth from mine.

“Me, too.”

He searched my eyes, kissing my forehead before rolling over and pulling me into his hold. A deep breath moved his chest, and I laid my head on it, listening to the thumping of his heart, the realization hitting me that it belonged to me, that he was mine. Mine again.

“Now what?” I asked, doubt surfacing.

“Now, I'll go take care of the horses and check for damage while you clean up. After that, I’m going to spend the rest of the day ravaging this body until we’re too worn out to move.”

I giggled, a sound that hadn’t come from me in far too long.

He rose and pulled me up with him, securing me in his thick arms. Safe.

It was a feeling that left me exposed, and a sudden need for self-preservation welled in me.

We had two different lives, distance separating us.

This couldn’t work. The barriers started rebuilding, the coldness seeping in to protect me from the hurt that waited in the shadows to pounce on me.

Days. Mere days before I’d be on my way home.

Back to the city, to a life of hiding my pain behind hard glares and snarky comments, drinking it away with expensive wine.

“Okay,” I said, hating how my voice had lost its lightness.

I turned from him, thoughts swirling in my mind and smothering the moments before when I’d been free and loved. That wasn’t my life, and it never would be.
