Chapter 46

Dominic

I press Mila ’ s head into the nook of my neck as I carry her through the woods. A new sense of satisfaction fills me.

I ’ ve waited so long for this day.

I feel my cock twitch with a hunger that can ’ t be satiated yet.

It’s been agonizing witnessing Mila crumble and descend into an endless abyss, yet it was all calculated in my plan. Mila always viewed me as a brother. I never got the chance to change her mind. So, I had to find a way to force her mind to think of me otherwise. I had to be her last hope, the one that would save her.

And I am.

Bury fucking Jared. What a waste of time, but I ’ ll do it for her.

Jared was just a pawn I created. I forced his father to spy for me, ensuring he got caught; then, I killed him in the act. Proving to my dad and Mila's that I was ruthless enough to take over the business one day.

Then I told Jared it was Marcus King who killed his dad because I needed Jared not to hate me; that and Marcus just happened to be at the office that day. He was the perfect cover.

I never understood why Marcus came to the office so often. He and Greg always spoke privately without my father in the room.

It's an insult!

Then I got to work and created the new Jared. I turned his grief into obsession and fed it for years. I couldn't risk stalking Mila myself, so Jared was my scapegoat.

I thought if I showed Mila’s father how well I knew her, one day, he’d allow me to marry her. Sign her over to me.

For years as they dance together, Jared would convey everything that Mila did. He was my eyes and ears. I cherry picked those details and reported them back to her father, painting the perfect picture of her and myself.

I knew I’d have to kill Jared, but I couldn’t be the one to do it. I couldn’t risk Mila thinking me a monster; Jared had to fulfill that role.

One more pawn was removed from the board.

It feels euphoric.

The day Mila cried her heart out to me a few weeks ago was a turning point. The problem was that I thought she was referring to Jared, who broke her heart. Turns out a new player has entered the field.

Dash King.

That ’ s when Jared came to me and begged me to get him into The Cleansing so he could kill Dash. Murder Marcus's heir and get revenge for his pathetic father.

But Jared had never killed, so I gave him a test. Kill the dance teacher and make it very public and messy. Fuck, Jared was sick, butchering that body and leaving it behind in the dance studio.

I had to pay a lot of money to cover his tracks, but he did as I asked, so I pulled strings and got him in.

I knew Dash would kill him, which would keep my hands clean and show Mila how big of a monster Dash was.

Everything has worked out so perfectly that I almost can't believe it.

I know Mila; she ’ s not attracted to killers, so I ’ ve always been her escape, her knight in shining armor.

Mila is more crushed and broken than I could have predicted.

It ’ s perfect.

I can slip in and show her how much I love her. Then, when the time is right, I will tell my father that Mila is the one I want to marry. After all these years her father has to give into my father’s demands. He has to!

It ’ s perfect. The stars have aligned.

Mila should be mine anyway. Michelson has no son, and Mila can ’ t take over the business from her father ’ s side.

I ’ m the perfect option. I ’ ve waited years for Michelson to announce that, but the old prick has kept his mouth shut. I think he wants me to prove myself before he hands me his daughter.

I will.

No matter what.
