Chapter Ten

Damon’s body shuddered as he thrust into her one last time.

He dropped his head to her shoulder as he tried to lower his heart rate and gain back some semblance of control.

Jesus, it felt like he’d died there for a moment.

It should have freaked him out, but all he could think of was when he could do it again.

He rolled them to the side and tucked her against his body. “Rest for a minute, baby.”

She hummed and then relaxed.

He could have lain there for hours, but after thirty minutes, they needed to get going, still had to pack her things, and go to the grocery store.

“We should get moving.”

He grinned when she growled and pressed herself tighter against him. “I would like to stay here too, but remember, your brother is waiting for us.”

She sprang to a sitting position. “Oh, God. He’s going to know what we’re doing.”

Damon laughed. “Probably.”

She gasped. “Don’t say that. God, how embarrassing.” She scrambled out of bed and looked around for her clothing. He lifted himself up to his elbows and watched her. It was vastly amusing.

She stopped with some of her clothes in her arms. “What are you doing? Get up,” she shrieked.

He chuckled, rolled out of bed, grabbed a tissue, and pulled off the condom.

He loved the way her eyes darkened as she studied him.

He stood still and let her see what she wanted.

Although mostly soft, his cock looked huge and semi-erect.

He felt it twitch when her stare centered on it, and she licked her lips.

“Baby, you’ve got to stop, or we’ll be back in bed.”

Her eyes rose to his, then she nodded before trying to find the rest of her things.

She walked into the bathroom and closed the door. He let her get away with it right then, but it would rarely happen that he’d allow a closed door between them.

He was tucking his shirt into his jeans when she walked out. She’d brushed her hair and gotten dressed. If he hadn’t still been able to detect the underlying flush of desire, he would have thought they hadn’t been rolling around in bed.

He pulled her into his arms. “You’re so beautiful. I promise I will make you happy.”

He could see her hesitation.

“Hey. What are you worried about?” he asked.

“Nothing. It’s just a lot to take in. I still have questions.”

“Let’s talk about this later. I want to get a few things packed.”

She nodded, pulled a bag from under the bed, and started loading it with things she’d need at her brother’s house for a day.

“Do you need to get some work done in the next few days?” he asked.

“Yes. It won’t take me long. Are you looking for a job?” she asked.

“I think I already have one. All I have to do is tell them I’ll take it. It’s with a security firm in town. I’ll work in the cyber side of security. I got my BA in computer science when I was overseas. It gave us something to do, and it was free.”

“Wow, you amaze me.”

“I hope that’s a good thing,” he said, smirking.

She rolled her eyes.

“What do you need for work?”

She looked around the room, giving herself time to devise a reason to work there. “I’ll just take my computer for now. I can always come back and get the files I need.”

It looked like he wanted to argue, so she just left the room. She concentrated on gathering the things for work before she saw him at the door with her bag in one hand.

“Is that it?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“Hand me your bag, baby.”

“No. It’s light. I’ve got it.” She ignored his scowl.

When they got to her car, Damon opened the trunk and set her bags in before helping her into the car and closing the door.

She was surprised at how natural it was to be with him—hell, the last two days had been her dream for years. The fact that they had sex was better than she ever knew it could get. Maybe it was because she still loved him. She would always love him.

At the grocery store, they got a cart and walked through the store. They were stopped a few times when people recognized Damon or said hello.

She laughed when they wheeled the cart out to the car. “Did we really have to buy half the store, Damon?”

He snorted. “You’re exaggerating a bit, aren’t you?”

She pointed to the cart. “Look at our cart.”

They got to the car. “Get in, and I’ll take care of the sacks.”

“You know I can help, right?”

“Yes, baby. Just not right now.”

She wanted to roll her eyes again but knew he wouldn’t like it.

Emma slid into the car and immediately saw a note on the seat.

She shoved it into her purse and tried to slow her breathing, but it was next to impossible when she felt the same panic she felt every time the stalker left her something or called.

She looked out her window when he got into the car.

“Hey, what’s up?” he asked, grabbing her hand.

She silently inhaled and turned to look at him. “Nothing. I’m just tired.”

He studied her, and she was afraid he would keep pushing, but thankfully, he started the car, and they headed home.

Trent came out and helped them with the sacks. Emma listened to the two harass each other like they always had.

She interrupted them. “I’ll be right back. I’m going to put my purse in my room.”

She rushed into her bathroom and locked the door. She sat on the toilet and pulled the note out of her purse. Before she even read it, she felt a shiver of dread skate up her spine.

You cunt, this is between you and me. Why did you have to let that man fuck you when you know you’re mine? I’m unsure what to do to get you clean and pure again, but it won’t be pleasant. Now you’re putting two men’s lives at stake. Do you really want to be the reason they get hurt?

Emma folded the note and put it back in her purse. Her throat tightened with fear and dread, and she had no idea what to do about it. If she told Trent and Damon, they would insist on getting involved and protecting her, and being anywhere around her could hurt them.

She bit off a scream when there was a knock at the door.

“Hey, baby. Are you okay?”

She pressed her chest and inhaled. “Yes. I think I’m starting my period. I’ll be right out.”

“All right. Call if you need anything.”

“I will. Thank you.”

She listened to him walk away before she stood and splashed water on her face. She hated lying to him, but it would work in her favor. It would be why she didn’t look good and could leave the house tomorrow.

Both men glanced at her as they made dinner but otherwise didn’t say anything. After they ate, it took very little time to clean the kitchen. She turned toward them.

“Hey, guys. I’m going to shower and head to bed.”

Damon walked to her and gently hugged her against his chest. “I’ll be in soon.”

She looked up at his face. “Oh, you’re sleeping with me?”

“Yes. There will never be a night we don’t sleep in the same bed. Enough time has passed, and I don’t want to lose anymore.”

Emma looked around to see her brother had left. “You don’t have to. You know, I can’t ... we can’t have sex.”

Damon cupped the side of her face. “Baby, I don’t care. I just want to hold you.”

“Oh, okay.”

He kissed her forehead, and the simple gesture made it hard for her to swallow past the emotion.

He nudged her toward the door. “Go on.”

She turned and walked out of the kitchen. She didn’t breathe a sigh of relief until she was in her room and the door was closed behind her.

Her thoughts turned to the problems she would have to face, like how she would get the guys to let her move back to her apartment. Her anxiety started to rise. There was no way Damon would let her be away from him, so she had to do whatever she needed to protect him.
