Chapter Twelve

Emma waved as the two drove off before closing and locking the door. She exhaled and leaned against the cold wood.

She knew she didn’t have much time, but the thought of talking to the cop she’d dealt with made her stomach cramp. It’s not that he didn’t care. It’s just that they couldn’t do anything until she found out who it was or got attacked.

Hell, she might as well get it over with. She grabbed her purse and walked out the door. She looked around because she always felt like the threat was close, but she’d never seen anyone.

At the police department, she sat in the car and took a moment to steady her heartbeat. If she went in anxious or shaking, she knew the officers wouldn’t deal with it well. God forbid she started crying.

Emma felt the sun warm her back as she walked into the building. But as soon as the door closed behind her, she was in a world of cold stone and drab colors. She couldn’t understand how people could work there every day.

“May I help you?”

“Yes. I’m Emma Fletcher. Can you see if Officer Marcel has time for me?”

“Sure. Have a seat, and I’ll call.”

Instead of sitting, she stared at the WANTED posters on a huge corkboard and was shocked by how many there were. Were there really this many people in her town who broke the law?

“Ms. Fletcher. He said to go on up. He’ll meet you by the elevator.”

“Okay. Thank you.”

Emma stepped on the elevator and was relieved when no one else got on with her. When the doors opened, the officer was standing there.

“Ms. Fletcher. Let’s sit at my desk and discuss what brought you here.”

“Thank you. You can call me Emma.”

He nodded. “All right. You may call me Connor.” He pointed to a chair. “Go ahead and have a seat. Now, what can we do for you today?”

Emma sat and then looked into her bag. She lifted the letter out and handed it to him. “I received this yesterday.”

She watched as the police took a glove out of a drawer and put it on before reaching for the paper. She knew he was doing it to protect any fingerprints that might be left on it.

“You’re the only one that touched it?” he asked.

“Yes.”

He studied it for a moment. “Who is the second guy this person is talking about here in the letter?”

“Oh, he’s a friend of the family. He just came back from the military.”

His eyebrows rose.

She didn’t understand the surprise or the smile he tried to hide. None of this was funny.

“So, the second man is military and just returned to town?’

Emma frowned and nodded. “Yes.” She had no idea what that had to do with anything.

“Do they know about the letters you’re getting?”

She shook her head. “No.”

“You know I advised you to tell your brother.”

“Yes, but I’m afraid it would put him in danger,” she said.

“The military guy is probably tough. Why can’t you tell him?” Connor asked.

“For the same reason. Didn’t you read the note?” She tried to keep the frustration out of her tone.

“Is it okay if I have someone else look at this? He’ll know how to deal with this better than I.”

“Sure. Do you want me to stay here?” she asked.

Connor stood. “Yes. We’ll see what he wants to do.”

Emma nodded. It sounded like he was going to bring in his boss, so maybe they’re taking it more seriously this time.

She tried hard not to stare at the different people around the room.

The ones in handcuffs got most of her attention.

She wanted to ask what they did to get arrested, but she didn’t think they’d like that.

A short time later, the officer came back. “Follow me. We’ll talk in one of the rooms. It’s a little more private.”

She stood. “Before we go, I must ask you about something. I want to buy a gun. What would I have to do?”

She thought the man was going to faint for a moment. He lost all color in his face. She reached for his arm. “Are you okay?”

The officer cleared his throat and nodded. “Yes. We’ll talk about guns later.”

“All right. But I’d like to get one as soon as possible. I think it would make me feel safer.”

Connor mumbled something under his breath as he walked away.

“I’m sorry I didn’t hear you,” she said.

“It’s fine.” They came to a room with a large table, several chairs, and little else.

“Oh, what room is this?” she asked.

“It’s our conference room. We thought you’d be more comfortable in here instead of where we question the bad guys.”

She smiled. “I appreciate it.”

“The person will be in shortly.”

She nodded. “Thank you. At first, I didn’t think you guys took it seriously.”

“Oh, we do. It’s just one of those instances that make us angry because there is nothing we can do. We don’t like women or children to live in fear.”

“That’s good,” she said.

Connor pointed to a chair. “Have a seat.”

Emma sat in one of the cushioned chairs and set her purse on the table. It wasn’t long before she heard a few men outside the room talking, and then one cursed, and it sounded like they dropped something or hit the wall.

She looked up and smiled when the door opened. It took her a moment to realize it was Damon standing there. Her smile fell, and she stiffened.

He closed and locked the door, leaned back against it, and crossed his arms over his chest. It looked like he was holding himself back from something. She also noticed a muscle tick on the side of his jaw.

“So, um,” she swallowed. “Hi,” she said.

His head tipped forward, but he didn’t say anything. The way he was looking at her and his silence was taking a toll on her nerves.

Emma stood to face him. “So, um ... what are you doing here?”

“I’m going to be working with them on certain things.”

“Oh.” She nibbled on her lip and then looked away.

“Emma.” His growl got her attention.

Her head jerked around. “What?”

He bit down on his lower lip before speaking. “I’m trying to think of the best way to say this because I’m trying really hard not to yell at you.”

Her eyes widened. “Yell? Why?”

His mouth dropped open and then snapped shut. When the muscle in the side of his jaw started to throb, she knew she was in trouble. She hadn’t seen him this pissed since he was a child and always getting into fights.

Damon pinched the bridge of his nose and stayed quiet for a minute, looking like he was trying to calm himself.

When he looked at her, she knew it hadn’t worked. The fire of fury still lit up his eyes, and the brackets around his mouth were still tense.

“What the hell were you thinking?” he yelled.

He’d never shouted at her before, and she didn’t much like it. Her eyes narrowed, and she crossed her arms over her chest. “I don’t like to be yelled at.”

He looked like he’d been slapped for a moment and then growled. “How would you like my hand on your ass until it was a nice red color?”

She gasped. “You’d spank me?”

“Fuck, yes.”

“No.”

He shook his head. “You’re my woman, aren’t you?”

She stuck her nose in the air. “I don’t know right now. I’ll have to think about it.”

She knew she’d said the wrong thing when he growled and headed toward her. She ran to the other side of the table and faced him.

He leaned forward, flattened his hands on the table, and glared at her.

“Would you like to say that again, sweetheart?”

Emma swallowed and lifted her chin. “No. You heard me the first time.” She stifled a scream when he came across the table so fast, she could not move quickly enough.

He lifted her and pressed her against the wall.

He used his hips to widen her legs to make a place for himself against her already aching pulse point between her thighs.

He held her hands above her head. “Say it again,” he growled.

She opened and shut her mouth before she shook her head.

“Goddamn, woman. I’m not sure what I should do with you right now.”

She looked up into his eyes. “You don’t have to do anything...”

“Tell me why you haven’t told Trent?”

“One of the letters said it would put him in danger. I tried everything I could to protect him.”

“Jesus, Emma. I’m not sure if Trent will be pissed or hurt that you didn’t come to him.”

She felt tears sting her eyes and tried to push them back. “Damon, he’s the only family I have left. I can’t lose him.”

“How will it affect him if he loses you?” he asked.

Emma looked away. She was ashamed she hadn’t considered it.

Damon sighed. “Now, let’s talk about me. Why didn’t you tell me right away?”

“You’d just got home, and you’d been injured. You were just getting back to us. When the letter came, it reinforced my decision to keep you safe, too.”

He cupped her face in one hand while he kept her arms pinned above her head. “If I ever hear of you trying to deal with something that could harm you, I swear to God, you won’t be able to sit for days, and I’ll keep you tied to the bed until whatever it is resolved.”

“Hey! Now, wait a damn minute...”

“Emma, you knew I was a Dom forever. You knew what it would be like to be my woman, and you accepted that. Now, you need to deal with the consequences, my little sub.”

Her words were cut off when he took her mouth with a kiss so possessive and hard it bruised her lips and drove her already aching body to a whole new level. She heard a moan and couldn’t tell if it was him or her.

“Did you lie about your period?” he asked, studying her.

She nodded. “It was the only thing I could think of at the time.”

“You’ll never be able to do that again because I’ll keep track of them.”

She didn’t know how she felt about that, but then her thoughts scattered when she felt him pull up her skirt and rip her panties away. “Hey, what are you doing?”

“I’m reminding you who you belong to,” he growled.

She felt his hand between her legs, trying to open his jeans. It took a little maneuvering, but he got it done. She was able to feel the head of his penis slide between her pussy lips and then an inch into her.

“Remember, you can’t make a sound, or we’ll have ten cops busting through the door.”

It was getting hard to concentrate on his words. Oh, God. She’d never get over the embarrassment if that happened. “Wait, how am I going to do that?”

“I’ll help you when you come, but you’ll have to deal with it before that.”

“Dammit...”

A gasp tore from her throat as he surged into her. She bent to dig her teeth into his muscular shoulder to hold back the desperate cry.

“Fuck, yes. Bite me all you want,” he said.

There was no slow start to his fucking. He rammed into her several times, and it didn’t take long before she felt her uterus contract and her body tighten.

“Damon,” she cried.

“I know, I’ve got you. Come for me.”

He pressed a hand over her mouth. Even with his help, she still had to fight to stay quiet.

After it passed and she could calm down, she lay limply against his chest as he held her tightly.

“Wait, you haven’t...” she said.

“No. Now it’s my turn.”

He pulled out, turned them until he could lay her facedown on the table. He raised her skirt and tucked it into the waistband.

“W-what are you going to do?” she asked.

“I’m going to show you in the most basic way that you are my sub and you’ll always listen to me.”

“But I’m not a su—”

“The hell you aren’t. You’re submissive down to your bones. Now relax your bottom, baby. It will sting at first, but then you’ll get the feel of it.”

He gripped her hips and plunged his cock into her cunt to get it wet before moving it up and started to press it into her tight anus.

“Oh, God, Damon, I don’t think I can do this,” she whimpered.

“I know you can, and I’ll take it easy on you this time, but if I ever find out you did something like this again, you’ll feel a burn for days, and it will make it hard to sit comfortably.”

Emma tried to soften her body in hopes it would help him penetrate more easily. It took a few minutes, but he was finally able to get his whole cock into her ass.

“How are you doing, baby?” he asked.

She loved the way his tone darkened because his passion was just about out of control.

“Damon, please...”

“I know. I’ve got you.”

He started pumping into her in slow, measured thrusts, but it soon became apparent that his control was at an end as he started to ride her hard. Pumping into her like a piston.

Surprisingly, she felt herself start to come. “Oh, no. Damon.”

“I know. I can feel you. Come.”

He bent forward and pressed his hand against her mouth. It helped tremendously. Because when she felt his cum fill her ass, the sensation was so erotic, she wasn’t able to keep a thought in her head.

He thrust one more time and then leaned over her. She could hear his harsh breathing and feel his heartbeat against her back.

She was shocked, she started to doze, and then he pulled out of her.

Emma never would have thought she’d enjoy anal sex, but she could see herself becoming obsessed with it.
