Chapter 16 The Confession
I didn't want to think about it too much. At least for now, Chu Qingyun was mine.
And I felt giving him a car was an incredibly right decision.
At a party I had been looking forward to ending, I made a call. "Chu Qingyun, I've been drinking. Can you come pick me up?"
Listening to everyone teasing me made me feel great inside.
When Chu Qingyun arrived, I was in the bathroom.
The moment I came out, I saw Cheng Yuzhou pulling Chu Qingyun aside, slurring his words. "Hey, if I'd known Fu Yuan was hiding such a treasure and that treasure was you, I would've called you out earlier."
"About what happened before, sorry. Don't whisper too much to Fu Yuan in bed. He values beauty over friendship. When he goes crazy, he's not even human."
"Chu Qingyun, we'll apologize to you properly later, okay?"
Gu Jue dragged him away. "He's drunk. Sorry about that."
After listening, Chu Qingyun smiled.
I walked out and went to Chu Qingyun's side. "You're here."
"Yeah."
"Alright, we're going home. Make sure you get him back safely." I said to Gu Jue.
He nodded.
After showing Chu Qingyun off in front of my friends, I felt incredibly good.
I leaned back in the passenger seat, watching his focused side profile as he drove.
He had that clean, handsome look and always seemed so steady.
My brain suddenly short-circuited. I muttered, "Like you."
Chu Qingyun heard it. His eyes sparkled in the darkness.
My heart sank. He didn't look happy about it.
I remembered what happened before. When I asked if he only saw me as his patron, we fell into an awkward silence for a long time.
I pressed my lips together and smiled. "Just kidding."
He hummed in response. Only then did his expression calm down.
Neither of us spoke again. In the quiet atmosphere, we both had our own thoughts.
