Chapter 17 The Funeral

He stayed by my side during winter break and worked as my assistant for a whole month.

Of course, he occasionally got groped by me during work hours.

After winter break ended and we returned to school, our lives became a three-point line between school, the Hospital, and home.

Until one afternoon when I was in a meeting at the company and received his call.

I instinctively felt something was wrong. He had never called me during company hours before.

I answered. He only said my name. "Fu Yuan."

He couldn't hold back the crying tone no matter how hard he tried.

Thick grief came through the phone. I didn't need him to say anything to know what had happened.

I also knew he needed me right now.

I canceled the afternoon meeting and rushed to the Hospital.

In the empty corridor, his figure looked small and drained.

I walked over quickly and pulled him into my arms.

He put all his weight on me. His voice was tired and hoarse. "Fu Yuan, what should I do? I don't have a mother anymore."

"You still have me."

The person in my arms opened his eyes and gave a bitter smile.

Chu Qingyun cried hard. His eyes were swollen like walnuts, full of red veins.

A twenty-year-old who had never experienced any major events in life. The first major event was having to handle his mother's funeral alone.

Watching the busy and pained Chu Qingyun made my own heart feel twisted and painful.

I stayed with him the whole time and also hired professionals to handle the funeral arrangements.

They needed relatives and friends to come pay their respects.

I accompanied him throughout.

Seeing him look lost, I couldn't help leaning over to kiss his eyes.

"Get some sleep. I'll watch over things for you."

He shook his head. "It's okay."

A relative pulled Chu Qingyun aside and said, "That's your boyfriend, right? It's fine. Society is very open now. He looks rich and treats you well. He's been running around taking care of everything. Now that your mother is gone, your aunt hopes you can live a good life from now on."

Chu Qingyun gave a bitter laugh.

I stayed right beside him.
