39. Dylan
Chapter thirty-nine
Dylan
“To the happy couple.” Chris raises his glass. It’s our first night at the resort and the first time we’re all gathered in one place for this week-long vacation.
Aiden and Bec have been here for a week already, enjoying their honeymoon.
I thought it would be weird to join them for their version of a belated bachelor and bachelorette party, but I don’t have any regrets coming here.
With the wedding taking place right before the holidays, we haven’t been able to get together as a larger group.
Plus, escaping Ohio’s January weather? You won’t find me complaining.
Conversation carries on around me, and for once, I’m not overthinking.
If the Dylan from months ago had come on this trip, I would have been using humor to hide the anxiety I felt over leaving work for an entire week.
I would have been counting and checking and feeling shitty for trying to hide all that from my friends.
But today? I’m not thinking of any of that.
I’m staring at the woman sitting at the other end of the table.
Dee’s stunning in a bright blue dress. It’s light, and lacy, flowing loosely around her body. Everything about her screams relaxed and carefree. She leans back, throwing her head around in laughter as Abby tells a story.
My chest is light, and I take a deep breath, closing my eyes and listening to the sound of waves crashing on the nearby beach. The humidity sticks to my skin, but I welcome the heat. The food smells fucking incredible and tastes even better.
My phone vibrates in my pocket, and I have to smother my annoyance at the interruption, but I glance at the notification anyway.
“Holy shit,” I mutter under my breath.
“What’s up? You good?” Dom asks, sitting to my right with Ellie on his other side.
“Yeah,” I say, keeping my voice low. “That apartment we liked on High Street…it’s available. I can get the keys next week if I want them.”
“If you want them…” he says, confused. “Why wouldn’t you want them. This was the one within walking distance to the Bridge, right?”
I don’t have the energy to get into my depressing, uncertain future with the Bridge, so I nod.
This place was the best option when I toured apartments with Dom, but they weren’t supposed to have anything available for another three months.
My stomach sours, the delicious meal turning over uncomfortably as my thoughts begin to race.
Dee’s still laughing with the girls, absolutely radiant and beaming with joy, oblivious to the rock that just dropped onto my chest making it hard to breathe.
What will happen between us if I tell her I can move out?
Are her feelings for me dependent on us being forced to spend all of our time together?
Fuck, that’s a depressing thought. I don’t think that’s what’s happening here.
At least, it doesn’t feel like it. But what the fuck do I know?
I’m not exactly a relationship expert here.
But Dom is a great husband. A real friend. And a solid dad. He’d have some wisdom to share, right?
“Something kind of…happened.” I keep my voice low, raising my eyebrows at Dom before glancing at Dee, hoping he gets the hint without me having to come out and say Dee and I are sleeping together.
He shakes his head, clearly still clueless. “Okay, that’s cryptic as fuck. What’s going on?”
I grind my teeth, glancing around to make sure no one is listening. “Dee and I…you know.”
His eyes open comically wide, and I bite my lips to keep from laughing. “Holy shit, Carissa is going to win the over-under.”
“What?”
He shakes his head. “Nothing, not important. Just…book club stuff I’m not supposed to talk about.”
“Well, now you have to fucking tell me.”
“Okay, but only because you twisted my arm,” he relents.
I didn’t, but I’ll let him think that if he’ll tell me what he knows.
“The girls made a bet on how long it would take you two to hook up after you two matched on that dating app. The one you used to set each other up on dates before the wedding.”
I fall back against the back of my chair, trying to make sense of it all. We matched on the app? Why didn’t Dee say anything?
That means she couldn’t have been as surprised by our attraction to each other as I originally thought. And the girls all seemed to sense that something was going on if they’re betting on us hooking up.
Does this help or hurt my case? This thing between us has to mean more than just some casual hookup to her too, right? This would all be so much easier if we hadn’t been avoiding the what the fuck are we doing conversation.
“Now you have to fucking tell me what’s going on between you two.”
“Later,” I murmur.
“Okay, later,” he agrees, nodding to himself while he takes another bite of his meal. “But like…you two are intimate?” he asks around a bite of food.
“Ew, please don’t say intimate.”
“What do you want me to say? That you two are banging?”
“I don’t like that either,” I say. That makes it sound like that’s all it is.
“Okay, well excuse the fuck out of me and the fucking semantics, but you’re not giving me anything to work with here,” he complains.
“I don’t need you to work with anything. I need you to keep this under wraps until I figure out how to tell Dee about the apartment.”
“Oh.” He nods, pursing his lips. “Gotcha. We don’t know how she’s going to take the news, so we need to deliver it delicately. I’m with you.”
I laugh at his very well-meaning intentions. It’s who Dom is, but for the love of God, I don’t want him anywhere near this conversation I need to have with Dee.
“Just let me handle it, okay?”
“Okay, but if you need me, I’m here.”
“I know. Thanks, man.”
“You’re here for what?” Jake asks loudly across the table.
“Yeah, what’s all that whispering about over there?” Chris asks, pointing between Dom and me with his fork.
“Oooooh, you boys got secrets?” Ellie pipes up, leaning her head over Dom’s shoulder to look between us. “Spill.”
“Dylan has to go to the bathroom. It’s an emergency,” Dom blurts out.
Well, if it isn’t karma coming to haunt me from date night with Dee. Hate to see that manifest so quickly, but here we are.
“I hate you,” I mutter quietly so only Dom can hear me.
“You love me,” he whispers, slapping a hand onto my shoulder. “Bathroom’s that way, champ,” he says loudly, pointing me in the direction of the restrooms.
I stand, because at this point, I can’t disagree with him without having to explain what’s really going on. I walk to the bathroom and return quickly, not wanting anyone to think too much about Dom’s bullshit excuse for me leaving the table.
We’re all leaving dinner and walking to the area designated for live music and dancing when Dee pulls me to the side.
“Is my midnight booty call being derailed?” she asks me quietly. “Dominic made it sound like you’re out of commission.”
I’m going to kill him.
“Nope. I’m good. Really good. Ready and waiting to answer that call.”
She laughs. “Then what was that all about?”
“I don’t know. He was being really weird tonight, don’t you think?
” Ugh, I feel slimy as shit not coming clean, but my instincts are telling me that this apartment becoming available is going to be a problem.
It’s going to force us to have the conversation we’ve been avoiding, and I don’t know if either of us is ready for it. But I only have so much time…
“Good, because I had plans for you,” she says, grabbing me by the front of my shirt and pulling me to the side of the building, off the pathway and between large grass plants hiding us from view.
“What kind of plans did you—Jesus Christ.” Every thought…
every ounce of anxiety vacates my body at the sight of Dee dropping to her knees, unbuckling my belt, and pulling my dick free from my shorts.
“Holy fucking shit,” I groan as she sucks me deep into the back of her throat.
I place one hand at the crown of her head, reveling in every glide, every pass she makes, taking me deeper into her mouth.
She pops off my dick and whispers, “You looked hot as fuck during dinner and I didn’t want to wait anymore.
” The smirk she gives me before licking the crown of my cock has me threading my fingers through her hair and gripping the strands gently enough it won’t hurt her, but enough so that I can control her movements if I wanted to.
She smiles around my dick before deep throating me again and again.
We both know who’s in charge right now, and it sure as fuck isn’t me.
“Dylan, you all right?” Jake calls out.
Fuck, did they notice us stepping off the path?
Dee chooses this moment to suck hard, gripping my cock in her hand and squeezing, twisting, jerking me off into her mouth. My senses trip over each other and I can’t control anything when I yell, “I’m coming.”
I don’t hear anything else from Jake, but I’m not sure I could over the roaring in my ears and the groan I attempt to stifle with a fist in my mouth.
I come down Dee’s throat, and when she’s had her fill, she licks me clean, placing a kiss on the head of my dick in a way that would be cute if it wasn’t so fucking filthy.
She pops up to her full height, unruffled and looking as beautiful as ever.
“That was fun,” she says cheerfully, shrugging her shoulders and taking one step, then another, toward the pathway where our friends are headed for a night of dancing.
I’ll be fucking damned if she’s going to get me off and then dance in front of me all goddamn night without getting a taste of my own.
“I don’t fucking think so,” I say, gripping her by the wrist and pinning her to the wall.
I spread her legs apart with my thigh and run my hand up her leg until I’m cupping her pussy, softly stroking her slit, outside of her panties, before I focus on her clit.
I rub just the way I know she likes, my other hand teasing her nipple.
After a few minutes teasing her, I move her panties aside. They’re fucking soaked. I get this sick sense of satisfaction knowing she’ll spend the next hour with my cum down her throat and her panties slick with want from me.
I slide two fingers into her pussy, and the moan she breathes into my neck unravels the last shred of self-control I have.
I play her body with a single-minded focus on making her come.
I want her cunt gripping my fingers. I want her biting my shoulder to keep from crying out.
I want her fucking reckless. She hooks one ankle around my waist.
“I’m going to come,” she pants, grinding against my hand. “Fuck, Dylan. That’s it.”
“You thought you could come here, suck my dick, leave me out of my mind, and not give me a taste of what I want. What I fucking need.” I pull my fingers from her slit then slap her clit. I draw circles over her sensitive nub, waiting for her to give me what I want.
“Let go, Dee,” I demand.
When she falls, she stares into my eyes, her mouth open on a silent scream before she drops her forehead to my chest, riding out her release.
She leans her head against the wall, her body melting into my arms. I hold her tightly. When she regains her strength, standing on her own, I pull my fingers from her, slipping them into my mouth to taste every bit of her.
“You’re right, Dee. That was fun.”
