48~ The birthday surprise

I giggled seeing Adhyay and Amayra fight with the fake lightsabers that Adhyay bought today. Amayra developed an interest in Star Wars cartoons and that is why she begged us to bring her lightsabers. It was the first time she had asked us for something and we couldn't deny her. We would never.

Amayra is a quiet girl for her age, she keeps everything to herself. The conditions made her so. in the orphanage, there was no one to listen to her.

"Young Jedi, today is the day of your downfall", Adhyay roared in a menacing tone and lunged at our daughter who laughed loudly.

"Ebil Sith Lord, I habe my mumma, she will kill youu", Amayra declared and ran to me. She took a place in my lap and giggled loudly. Adhyay smiled but maintaining his role said, "Your mumma is in my team Jedi, no one can save you today".

Amayra looked at me and I at Adhyay who was challenging me with his eyes. I wriggled my eyebrows and announced, "Time is up, you both. Amayra go to sleep".

Both of them groaned simultaneously and dropped the lightsabers on the floor.

"But I won", Adhyay shouted and I rolled my eyes. Instead of acting like a responsible father, he is acting like a small kid.

"Nooooo I win", Amayra yelled jumping off my lap, all ready to pounce at my husband. Adhyay raised his eyebrow and smirked. I hate to say this but he does look extremely hot when he does this.

I love how his hair is always dishevelled, how his lips curl into a teasing smirk and the look in his eyes is worth dying for.

"You lost baby, papa won", Adhyay teased again. I stood up and stomped my foot. Both of them turned their necks to look at me as I said, "You Dr. Adhyay, aren't you ashamed of troubling your daughter? Are you a kid or what?"

I then pointed my finger at Amayra and said, "And you Miss Amayra Bansal, you know you won so no need to fight".

When I completed, Adhyay's jaw was hanging wide open and Amayra was jumping as if she won diamonds. I ushered Amayra to bed and covered her with the blanket. She peeked out and mumbled, "Song mumma?"

I nodded with a smile and covered her again with the blanket. Patting her small tummy, I kissed her forehead and sang,

Chanda hai tu, mera suraj hai tu, o meri aankho ka tara hai tu

Chanda hai tu, mera suraj hai tu, o meri aankho ka tara hai tu

Chanda hai tu, mera suraj hai tu, o meri aankho ka tara hai tu

Jiti hu bass tujhe dekhkar, iss tute dil ka sahara hai tu

Kissing her forehead, I stood up, only to find my husband sitting on the couch with a sweet smile.

"My mum sang this song to me as well", he stated and patted the couch, signaling me to sit beside him. I smiled and nodded.

"My mumma too, I guess this song is every mother's favourite", I said as I took a seat beside him.

"You know Aakriti, you are a wonderful mother", he suddenly said and I looked at him. I scrunched my eyebrows when he said, "I-I don't know how to put it up, but I-I thought you won't accept Amayra."

I sighed and leaned on his shoulder. I didn't even know that I would become this attached to her. She really brings out the best in me.

"I love both of you Adhyay, you both healed me", I said, intertwining our hands. He kissed my forehead and nodded.

"Amayra, she is my daughter. She might not be my blood but I have loved her more than I will love my own. I don't care who gave birth to her, she is our daughter. She is Amayra Bansal, ours", I asserted, looking into his deep brown eyes.

"I know", he said with a smile and squeezed our hands.

"And you should also know that I love you", I said and pecked his lips.

He chuckled and replied, "I know that as well, wifey. I love you more".

I sighed and snuggled closer to him. My peace lies with him. If I have loved someone with such an intensity, it is only him.

"IMA Lucknow is organising a trip to Andaman and Nicobar Islands", he said and opened his mobile phone. I sat up straight and asked, "For free?"

He rolled his eyes and replied, "Of course not, who will give such a big trip for free? We have to pay per person, kids for free".

My mouth opened into a wide O and I nodded. The prospect doesn't seem bad, we both need a vacation after all that happened this year. And Amayra will enjoy it as well. After she starts going to school, we won't have a lot of time and we will get busy as well.

"The best thing is, Amayra's birthday falls on the date we will go there. It will be a great surprise for her. Already she loves fish and water, she will have fun", he stated excitedly and passed me his mobile phone. I read the PDF which had the plan of the trip.

"Six day trip, not bad", I answered reading the itinerary.

"And all are doctors, it's a group trip", he added.

"Sounds amazing to me!" I exclaimed and gave him his mobile back. He nodded with a cute smile.

"And I have a plan for her birthday, she wanted fish. When we come back home from the trip, she will find two goldfishes and a huge teddy bear! She will be so happy", he exclaimed

"I am already so excited! Aah this is so perfect Adhyay!"

"We should start our shopping, I will ask the twins if they want to join", he stated.

"Yes you should, Hrishika should also come out of her shell. The culprit is behind the bars and now it's time for her to come back to normal", I said, approving his idea of taking the twins.

After my mother's surgery, a lot of things changed.

Like, we won Hrishika's case after presenting a solid proof in the court.

Aviraj Chaudhary was sentenced to be thrown in jail for three years and a heavy fine was charged on them.

I still remember how his mother cried to bring him back, she begged and thrashed but to no use.

The culprit has to be punished and he was.

Same goes for his father. On the day of the hearing, I saw him for the second time.

But this time, he was weary. He even had the guts to say that Aviraj is my brother and I should save him. Why would I? He isn't my father nor I have a brother. And why would I betray my beloved for those good for nothing cheapsters? My loyalty lies with my husband and Hrishika who had no fault.

It was them who crumbled my mother's life and then my sister in law's. In my opinion, they deserved a more cruel punishment but atleast they got it. As long as they don't trouble us, we are fine but if they do, then they will see my worst.

"Yeah but there will be bachelors too, I don't want anyone to see my sister", he protectively said. I raised my eyebrows and then giggled. So my husband goes into the category of big protective brother?

"Come on Adhyay, she is a grown up and we should leave it on her. Who knows if she finds someone there and falls in love, it would be so dreamy", I said and imagined our Hrishika sick in love with someone.

"Wait wait, this is not gonna happen", Adhyay asserted, breaking my chain of dreamy thoughts. I casted a bewildered look at him and punched his shoulder.

"Why? Even we fell in love".

"We are different, Hrishika is different. She is my younger sister! She is not getting married for heaven's sake!", he exclaimed pulling his hair out in frustration. I rolled my eyes at his protective instincts.

"We are not different! She has a life and she has the right to fall in love", I stated, pointing my index finger to him. He groaned and stomped his foot on the floor.

"Aakriti you are not understanding! She is a small girl! It was just yesterday when she was born!"

I threw my arms in the air and yelled, "She is twenty eight! One day both the twins will get married".

"I don't care if Hrishit gets married, I just don't want Hrishika to leave the house and live with some bastard", he yelled.

"Bastard? Not every man is a bastard", I argued.

"Every man is!" He argued back.

"Then you are a bastard as well, you said every man is a bastard and you are a man!" I exclaimed, using his own lines against him. His jaw fell open and he gulped, trying to find words.

"I-I am not a bastard, tell me, did I ever trouble you? I am the best husband!"

I cocked my eyebrows and replied, "How would I know? It's not like I have a hundred husbands. How do I know you are the best?"

"Pagal ho gayi ho kya?" He roared with a bewildered look.

(Are you insane?)

I smirked and patting his shoulder replied, "I am just saying to let Hrishika live her life, she has her own choices, her own life. You can't command her".
