Chapter 2 How We Met

My first encounter with Shen Zong was when I rear-ended his car.

Before I could even react properly.

He stormed over aggressively, looking ready to settle scores.

I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out, planning to talk it over calmly.

"You fucking..."

The moment our eyes met.

Shen Zong froze for half a second. The rest of his sentence vanished.

He cleared his throat awkwardly, pulled out his phone, and showed the QR code.

"Add me on WeChat. We'll discuss compensation."

After that night, Shen Zong and I added each other.

He bombarded me with messages asking about everything like he was checking household registration.

I could more or less sense that he was interested in me.

When I ignored him on WeChat.

Shen Zong started showing up in my life constantly.

In the mornings, he parked a sports car at my neighborhood entrance, claiming he wanted to drive me to work.

At noon, he walked straight into my workplace holding an exquisite lunch box, saying he came to eat with me.

In the afternoons, it got even more outrageous—he waited along my usual route home from work holding a huge bouquet of fiery red roses.

When he offered to drive me home again, I stated my position clearly.

"I don't want to date right now. I can't afford to play around with rich people like you."

Shen Zong held the flowers, staring at me without blinking. His eyes were full of seriousness.

"Chu Nian, I'm not playing with you. I'm seriously pursuing you."

The next day, Shen Zong changed his style completely.

He drove an ordinary car instead. His outfit was no longer flashy or eye-catching.

He leaned against the car, shook the keys in his hand, and grinned freely.

"Come on, future girlfriend."

No matter how I refused, Shen Zong still appeared in front of me every day.

On an ordinary rainy night, I finally agreed to be with him.

After we started dating, calling Shen Zong a twenty-four filial boyfriend was no exaggeration.

He remembered all my preferences and drove me to and from work every single day without fail.

He remembered my cycle and made me brown sugar water when I had cramps.

He kept the house spotless and bought things I liked to make me happy.

After half a year together, I was already drowning in his meticulous gentleness.

I knew Shen Zong's family had money.

I just never imagined it was this much.
