Chapter 2
Moni told me that she would call me once she got home hours ago, but now she wasn’t answering any of my calls.
I had gotten so many more things for Cadence, and I just wanted to be around them.
He was so damn handsome that I had gotten baby fever.
When I say baby fever, I mean for a baby that I can borrow then send back home.
The sad reality was that I may be expecting a baby of my own.
I was in denial because I knew that once I found out for sure, there would be no turning back from what I would have to do.
I didn’t fuck with Trell or niggas like him.
He was a lame ass, sucka ass nigga. The excuse he gave me for fuckin’ the same hoe I dog walked on his behalf was crazy.
My simple ass thought we were locked in to the point that he wouldn’t even look at another bitch.
That boy had me fooled, but I knew for a fact that he was hurting and feeling it now.
The games he wanted to play, I would take no parts in.
That’s how niggas get popped every day. I called Harmoni for the tenth time, and it went straight to voicemail.
As I lay on my couch, I set my alarm for an hour. When I woke up, I would head over to her place and see what was going on.
I slept through my alarm, but two hours later, there was still no call from Harmoni.
Now it had been over six hours since she had been home, and still no word.
I knew she was probably just tired and still getting adjusted, but I missed them already.
She should have known that I was going to be at her house every day, worrying them.
She had given birth to a real life doll, and she knew I would want to be there all the time.
Before Cadence was born, I always told her that the guest room would be my new home once he arrived, and she thought I was joking.
I made it to her house and didn’t see the Jeep that Rowdy had surprised her with.
He went live earlier when he gave it to her, and his Instagram went all the way up.
He had really made a few of her dreams come true, and I loved that for my bestie.
As I approached the house, I told myself that Harmoni had better be asleep and not running the streets in that damn Jeep already.
As I parked my car behind Trell’s, letting out a deep breath was the only way to compose myself.
I had no clue what this corny ass nigga was doing there, but I wasn’t in the mood to see his triflin’ ass face.
Once I grabbed the five bags I had for Cadence out of my trunk, I headed to the door.
I rang the bell, and Trell instantly opened it like they were waiting for someone. He looked into my eyes with regret, and I stared back with disgust. I brushed past him and into the house.
“Get the fuck outta my face, Stanley!” I threw over my shoulder, imitating the movie Next Friday.
When I got into the house, the mood was depressing as hell. I didn’t know what was going on, but I was gonna head straight to see Moni and the baby. I spoke to Rowdy and his dad, then I made my way down the hall until Rowdy stopped me in my tracks.
“They not here, Ciara.” Rowdy called out in a somber tone.
“Where are they, and what time did she say she would be back? You know she shouldn’t be out of the house by herself at all, especially with a newborn. Her phone dead too. I don’t like this shit,” I spat.
I was now irritated as hell with Rowdy. How was he chilling while his woman and new ass baby ran the streets? If she was at that shop showing Cadence off like some new toy, I was gonna beat her ass. Those nosey, gossiping hoes in that shop could wait six weeks like everyone else.
“Never mind, nigga. Carry on with your boys’ night, and I’ll head to the shop. I know that’s the only other place she could be. At a germ filled ass shop with your newborn baby, but you don’t care. I’ll be back with her shortly,” I said as I headed toward the door, still holding bags.
“She ain’t there either, Ci. Come sit down. This shit bad! It’s real bad,” Rowdy reluctantly told me.
The bags instantly hit the floor, and I felt like I was about to have a heart attack.
What did he mean? Where the fuck was my best friend and my nephew?
My head started spinning, and it became harder for me to breathe.
Trell stood in front of me with his head hung.
That explained the mood of the room. Something bad had happened.
Just as I grabbed my chest and damn near collapsed to the ground, Trell caught me and carried me to the empty sofa. Rowdy’s pops jumped up, rushed to the kitchen, and came back with a glass of ice water and a cool towel. He placed the towel on my head and handed Trell the glass.
Under any other circumstances, I wouldn’t allow this dog ass nigga to touch me, let alone put anything near my mouth.
I reluctantly drank from the glass that Trell held up to my lips and tried to gather myself.
Once I felt like my breathing had regulated and the room had stopped spinning, I sat up and faced Rowdy.
“What’s going on, man? What the hell happened?”
“I don’t want you stressing, especially if you pregnant. But I just wouldn’t feel right to lie to you when it’s some real shit going on.”
As Rowdy spoke, I noticed that he looked beat the hell up. My mind was racing, and I needed him to spit it out. I would address him speaking on me possibly being pregnant at a later time. I needed to hear this news about my friend.
“I don’t give a damn about that! Tell me what the fuck happened to my friend and my nephew right the fuck now!” I said through clenched teeth as I leaned closer in his face.
As Rowdy ran down the story from start to finish, I could feel my blood boiling.
I knew what he said had to be true, but I just didn’t want to believe it.
When he showed me his phone and the footage he had recorded of the accident, everything was confirmed.
There were two niggas in the video assisting Diamond.
One of them looked real familiar, but I couldn’t get a good look at his face.
I just knew that it couldn’t have been the person I was thinking of.
“I watched this bitch get smoked. How is this even possible, and how did she know where y’all were? Then I told Moni that something was off about that fake ass nurse. It’s clear that she knows something.”
“That’s all the same shit I said, Ci. We gon’ get to the bottom of this shit, though. We already got something in motion for tonight, and I should have some news for you later. Just give me a little time. I promise to bring them home,” Rowdy promised.
“I ain’t giving you shit! Whatever you got planned for tonight, count me the fuck in. I’m not about to be sitting around, waiting by the phone while y’all making moves. I’m gon’ help bring them home too. What’s the plan for tonight?”
“You need to sit the fuck down, Ciara! You wanna be so damn hard, but it ain’t shit that you can assist three grown ass men with. You play hood, but when shit gets to poppin’ off, you better remember that you still don’t have no balls between yo’ legs!” Trell spat.
“I almost made you piss yourself when I put that iron to yo’ head, though. Bitch, stop playing with me! Y’all the new niggas ’round this bitch! That’s been my friend my whole life! Fuck what you talm ’bout! Now, what’s the move?”
Rowdy’s pops told me about Diamond’s sister, Taylor, and how Trell had her thinking they would fuck tonight.
I had been meaning to see that hoe ever since they jumped Moni outside her shop.
Knowing that Trell had fucked that hoe too was making me sick to my stomach.
This was really a garbage ass nigga, and I didn’t know how I got mixed up with him, let alone continuously allow him to shoot the club up.
We all agreed that I would be there when Trell linked with Taylor, or I would blow they shit up. It was clear that nobody wanted me on this mission, but one thing I didn’t play about was my friend. Now that Cadence was added to the mix, everybody was about to die around this bitch.
“Ciara, come outside for a second. I really need to holla at you,” Trell sternly stated.
I was so confused about who this nigga thought he was, but to keep down any further confusion, I followed him outside.
“Wassup, Trell? You and I have nothing to talk about.”
“Why are you acting like this? I understand you riding for Moni, but are you really gon’ hate me forever? I apologized several times, but you still hard on a nigga. If we ain’t have no title, and you ghosted a nigga for damn near a month, what the fuck did you want me to do?”
“Bitch ass boy! What I wanted was for you not to fuck another bitch, especially a bitch who ass I beat because of you. You think I don’t have feelings?
Just ’cause we had no title does not mean that you should be fuckin’ off with hoes.
On bad terms, or even just not speaking to each other, you should have stayed solid!
That shit broke me to the point that I almost put some hot shit in yo’ temple!
You pestering me about hating you, when you should thank yo’ lucky stars that you still breathing, my nigga!
After you stuck yo’ dick in another bitch, anything we had became dead at that point.
Let’s not have this conversation again. Strictly business from now on,” I said turned to walk back into the house.
“Remember, you gotta deal with me for the next eighteen years, sweetheart. You are the only person in denial, so don’t play yourself,” Trell yelled after me.
I slammed the door, leaving him outside.
