Chapter 10

“I’ll be right back. I left my purse in Kameron’s office.” I reassure my protective Daddies and rush out of the team owner’s skybox as the hockey game plays on the ice below us.
It’s a great perk of knowing the owners like Benton, Mitchell, and Jefferson do. It doesn’t hurt that the owners adore my sister and appreciate all that she has done for the team. But they don’t have romantic feelings for her. The three of them are involved with the team’s female goalie.
I think about my own complicated relationship, and I’m still a little hurt they didn’t try to have sex with me last night after we got back from dinner with Kameron and her guys, or even today, especially after they each took turns holding me while I slept.
My thoughts distract me so much that I don’t realize I’ve walked down the wrong hallway. This hallway is dark and mostly looks deserted, not the brightly lit hallway where Kameron has her office.
Before I have a chance to turn around, a hand grabs me and pulls me into an even darker room.
“What the hell?” I yank against my attacker’s grip, only to be met with a furious growl.
“You thought you could just run away from my son and the wedding of the century?” I recognize Mrs. Leeds’s voice. “A tramp like you doesn’t deserve his affection.”
And there is it, affection, not love.
“I don’t want his affection or anything from him.” I twist my arm to free myself from her grip.
Spinning around, I search for the doorknob in the dark room. When I find it, I turn it and throw myself out of the room and right into a set of strong arms.
“What is going on, Kendall?” Mitchell holds me tighter in his arms. His eyes search my face as I cling to him like a lifeline.
Before I can answer, Mrs. Leeds comes crashing after me. “Get back here, you little slut. I know you’ve been fucking around with guys twice your age. Luckily, my family will still honor the engagement, and the wedding will go on as planned.”
“Like hell she will. She’s ours.” Benton pushes his way between me and Mrs. Leeds, conveniently shielding me from her hate.
“She agreed to marry my son. I demand that she come back with me at once, or I’ll sue for breach of contract and have you thrown in jail.” Spittle flies from her mouth as she yells.
“You won’t be suing anyone, lady.” Jefferson stands next to Benton. “You just tried to kidnap our baby girl. You’re the one who’s going to jail.”
“Baby girl?” she spits. “You people are sick.” She curls her lip in disgust. “Fine, I’ll let you keep your lovers after you marry Chaz, as long as you’re discreet about it.
It’s not like Chaz will touch you anyway.
You’re going to be his wife in name only while he keeps messing around with all those men he’s so fond of.
” She concedes. “He couldn’t even be bothered to help me bring you back. ”
“That’s enough.” Kameron growls, holding her phone up as she keeps recording Mrs. Leeds's confession. “You’re going to leave my sister and her boyfriends alone—do you hear me? Or I’ll expose your true colors to the world.”
“How dare you threaten me?” Mrs. Leeds’s snarls. “I could buy and sell you people a thousand times over.”
“Fine, then the alternative is pressing charges for attempted kidnapping,” Benton says. “It’s your choice.”
“Alright, I’ll leave you people alone.” She lifts her head, stomping past us.
Once she’s out of sight, I collapse against Mitchell’s chest. “Thank you all.”
“You don’t have to thank us, Baby Girl.” Jefferson gently places his hand under my chin, tilting my head, and then kisses my lips. “We would do anything for you.”
“Then take me back to the hotel and show me,” I whisper the challenge against his lips.
With a growl from all three of them, Mitchell picks me up and throws me over his shoulder.
“Bye!” I wave to Kameron as I’m being carried out of the arena.
