Chapter 6 #2
She was examined by the doctor, who asked her a lot of personal questions.
Like, had she been taking drugs that weren’t prescribed to her.
Did she want to end her life. The questions went on for what seemed like hours before they finally got on her last nerve, and she had to tell them that they were bringing her down more.
As soon as she said that, everyone backed away from her, and she was left alone.
She didn’t want that either, but knew that if they depressed her anymore, she was going to have to sue the hospital for it.
There was no point in their treating her this way.
Before she’d left home, she’d made her butler call her sister’s phone and leave a message that she’d been taken to the hospital.
She also told him to tell her that it was her fault for getting married and that she’d never forgive herself if something happened to her.
By the time she was shown to a room, Robin was so upset with her sister that she wished that she’d never been born.
Getting things set up the way that she wanted wasn’t happening either, and Robin was going to have to have some heads roll.
Things were making her triggers blow up, and she was going to need to be in a room all to herself for the duration, or she’d have to show these people what it was like to depress a woman that was as bad as she was.
Her overnight bag was inspected, and they took out all her pills.
She couldn’t make them leave them alone for anything and decided that she needed to put her foot down if things like this kept happening.
No one was paying her the due that she was owed, and she couldn’t stand it.
She was depressed by God, and they’d better be treating her right before she got in such a black mood that there was no telling what she’d do to them all.
“You’ll wear the gown that we have for you.
That way it won’t get stained up if something were to happen to you.
” She said that she would make sure that they repaid her if they were to get anything on her night gown.
“Be that as it may, you’ll be wearing what we give you or nothing at all. That’s final.”
“We’ll just see about that.” She would, too, or there would be a blow-up like they’ve never seen before. “I wear what I want when I want.”
In the end, they threatened her with sedating her and having two men undress and dress her before she’d comply.
She hated that things weren’t going her way and said as much to the nurse as she filled out he paperwork for her being there.
She said that she wanted one of her pills right now, and they told her that she’d have to wait as it wasn’t time for meds to go out.
“I’m depressed.” The woman said that she’d heard enough about her being depressed.
That’s what all these people on this floor were suffering from, and she was no different than they were.
As soon as she heard that, she told the nurse how her doctor had prescribed her the strongest medications there were for depression, and no one would be able to handle the kind of drugs that she took.
“You’ll see. As soon as you talk to my doctor, you’ll see that I’m telling you the truth.
I want you to call my sister too and tell her that I’m in the hospital. She’ll be at my side in no time.”
“We have a call into your doctor now and are waiting for him to get back with us. As for your sister, someone called her as soon as you were admitted, and she told us she’d get around to seeing you when she could.
I don’t think she’s very happy with you right now.
” Asking her why she’d think something like that got her no answer, but the nurse was talking again before she could demand an answer from her.
“Now, if there’s nothing else, I’m going to go see to my other patients and see what they need. ”
“I’m not finished with you just yet.” She just continued to walk out the door and ignore her. If she had her purse, her only source of comfort, she’d show her a few things about taking care of her. “You get back here right now, as I have other rules you’re going to be following for me.”
It was as if she wasn’t speaking to anyone.
As soon as she was allowed to get to a phone, she was going to make sure that the police knew how she was being treated.
Then she’d show them. Depression was something that she suffered with endlessly, and she wasn’t going to be treated like she was for no reason.

Reagan had a wife. He still marveled at the idea that he had found his mate and was married to her all in the same week.
Getting his game face on and going to see his patients, he tried his best to be professional in a way that would make his family proud of him.
It was hard enough not smiling all the time, but being professional when he wanted to sing and dance was nearly impossible.
“How are you, Mrs. Walsh?” She told him that she’d read in the paper about him getting married this morning. “Yes, my parents did that so that people would know that they were proud of me. I love that they did that.”
“Well, why aren’t you on your honeymoon or something?
You should be out having a good time with your bride, not talking to old women who have seen better days.
” He told her that he didn’t know any old ladies who had seen better days.
“Oh, go on with you. You know what I’m talking about. Why are you here and not with her?”
“She went back to work today, and I had patients to see. Like you. But we’ll have the rest of our lives together, and one day isn’t going to make that much difference.
” She smacked him on the chest, and he smiled at her.
“She really did need to get back to work. She said that she loves her job and that loving me is secondary. I wasn’t sure how to take that, but she assured me that she’ll make time for me over the weekend.
Besides, I hate to miss work too. I get into trouble when I’m not working. Especially with Grandda around.”
“That man must be as proud as a pup after doing his business outside now with all these granddaughters around. I saw him at the store the other day, and he was going on about having himself a great-grandchild by Christmas of next year. I would imagine that he’s not putting too much pressure on you guys if you’re willing to have babies for him.
” He said that things were easy when you had a family like he did.
“You surely do have the best family there is. Generous to a fault and nicer than anyone I’ve ever dealt with. ”
After examining her for her wellness check, he declared her to be as fit as she could be for a woman of her age.
She was going to be ninety-three next month, and she got around like some fifty-year-olds.
She was a patient of his father’s, and he’d fallen head over heels in love with the older woman the moment he’d met her.
He liked all his dad’s patients and thought that he couldn’t have done better than he had with them.
Ordering her some blood work to keep up on things like her diabetes, Reagan was happy with the results enough that he told her that she’d probably live to be a hundred.
She said that would be sad as she’d already outlived most of her children.
“I’m sorry about that. I didn’t know.” She said that they’d had their daddy’s heart troubles, and that’s what took them from her. “I’m so sorry to hear that. You love those that are still here, and they’ll be happy to have you around.”
“I suppose so. They’re just waiting for me to die so they can have what little bit of money I have left.
Ain’t much. I used it to keep myself in pretty things around me, and they think that I should be in a nursing home.
I thought about it and thought that they think that those places are free.
I got news for them, it’ll take all I have just in the first few years.
” She laughed, and he smiled. “I swear to you, I’m thinking I’d be better off in an old people’s home than at my house, where they can fuss at me all the time. ”
“You do what you want and to hell with them.” She laughed again, and he joined her.
It was nice to have someone who was so free in speaking around.
Most of his patients wouldn’t even tell him what was wrong with them, much less tell him that she’d be wanting to go into a nursing home to spoil the fun for her kids.
After she left, he had five more patients to see before it was the end of his day.
As soon as he saw his last patient, he was ready to go home.
Blake would be getting home a little later than he was, and Reagan was all right with that.
He could start their dinner and be well on the way to having it finished by the time she came home.
Tomorrow, he was interviewing a cook and staff for the house, and he was excited about that.
While he didn’t mind cooking for the two of them, he hated the clean-up most of all.
He must have used every pan in the place before he was able to get a grilled cheese sandwich ready for them.
He was just glad that he could load most of it in the dishwasher so that he’d not have as much to clean up.
Blake was coming in the door just as he was getting their soup off the stove.
He didn’t think he’d done that badly with the mess he’d made.
There were only three pots; he’d burnt the first pan of soup and two grilles.
He’d also burnt the grilled cheese by forgetting about it while he was talking to his dad on the phone.
“How was your day?” She said that she’d had a lot of work to catch up on and that she barely made a dent in it. “I should have remembered to remove your cast earlier. It would have made it easier for the muscle tone to get better. Other than not getting much work done, how was your day?”
