Chapter 10 #3

“I’m not leaving you.” She told him again that she’d understand if he did. “I don’t want to leave you. I’ve been in love with you since I first saw you, and that’s not going to change. You are the reason that I get up in the morning and the person that I depend on when I need someone to talk to.”

“I’ve been thinking about Robin for the past couple of days.

She’s always been like that. Even before she was diagnosed with depression.

I think it was just a way for her to get what she wanted from our parents.

” He asked if she gave in as well. “I was too young to know any different. When she was older and taking care of me, it was just easier to give her what she wanted than to argue with her all the time. But then she blew it all up by stating that no one was as depressed as she was.”

“I guess I can understand your parents giving in to her. And even you, since you were so small and she’d already had a history of being given what she wanted.

But it still doesn’t make it right that her doctor knew she was more ill than she was.

That’s not right.” She asked him if the doctor should have told us about her other doctor.

“I think he was giving us a heads up about suing him. If he’d have done his job when he had the chance, then she might well have been recovered from her childhood experiences instead of just piling more onto it.

She’s going to have to serve some time for shooting me.

It won’t be long, but I think once this new doctor starts to treat her, we’ll see some improvements. I hope so anyway.”

“So do I.” They left the hospital and drove by Robin’s house. Blake said that she’d never liked the house, but it was her sister’s, so she didn’t say anything. “It’s over the top in wealth. Like she wanted it to be looking like a house that a wealthy person lived in and then some.”

“I can see that. It is a little over the top.” They talked to the staff about what was going to happen with her sister.

Deciding to close up the house was the smartest thing to do, and it would save her money, too.

There was no point in paying a full staff when there was no one there to benefit from it.

“We’ll have someone come in and clean out the cabinets and refrigerator sometime soon.

That way, if she gets to come back, it’ll be ready for her to start over. ”

After that, they made their way home. The house was quiet; there were only the two of them there, and the staff, but the two of them didn’t mind the quiet.

In fact, Reagan loved having the house all to themselves.

As they were getting ready for dinner, he got Blake to eat something and was happy for that.

She’d not eaten anything since the shooting, and he worried about her.

He was going to give her something to help her sleep, too, if it came to that.

He wanted her to be all right now that Robin was out of the picture.

“I just realized that I’ve never seen your cat.” He told her that if she wanted to go outside, he could shift for her. “I’d like that. Very much.”

Once in the yard, he did shift for her. He knew that his cat was bigger than the ones she might have seen in the zoo, so he was careful where he stepped.

After she petted him and he purred for her, he showed her how he could dance around the yard and do tricks.

He loved being his cat and was glad that she wasn’t afraid of him.

It was nearly ten o’clock when he sat down on the grass with her beside him.

“I want a child. I know that I keep waffling around on that, but I want to wait for a little while.” He nodded, laying his head down on her lap. “Maybe next year, when everyone else is finished having their first child. I just want to get to know you and your family better. And you to know me.”

“I’d like that as well.” He purred again when she rubbed him right behind the ear. “You keep that up, and he’ll do anything for you. Including save you over me.”

“He should anyway. I’m the one who is going to give him babies.

” She laughed when he nuzzled her hand. “With the others having children, we’ll get to watch the mistakes they make and do better when we have our own.

I’ve been watching Anna around Harri, and I think I could be a mother to a four-year-old.

Babies? I don’t know. They seem to be very needy, and I don’t know anything about children. ”

“I don’t either. I mean, I’ve taken care of them in my practice, but I’ve never had one around me all the time.

I think it’ll be different than just delivering them when they’re due.

” She told him that she hoped they’d be different.

“Mom would love to give us advice on what to do when we have children. I know you don’t just mean babies but tiger babies as well, right? ”

“Yes. When do they shift?” He told her about twelve. “At least I’ll have that much time before they become tigers. I bet it’s going to be hard to keep them fed, too, don’t you? I mean, what do you remember about being a teenager?”

“I remember being hungry all the time. Even getting up from the table, I’d want a snack.

Mom always had some things around for us, but I’m sure it was hard to keep up with our eating habits.

” As he made his way to the door, he shifted and became himself again.

“As we got older, we could go out and get something more to eat when we wanted it. I think that helped both my parents out when we could get out on our own.”

They cuddled up on the couch, their favorite thing to do while in the house, and watched a bit of television.

After it was turned down so that they could speak above it, they eventually turned it off.

It was nearly midnight when they went up to bed, and he thought that they both felt better.

Sometimes just talking things through would make him feel so much better.

“I love you.” Blake told him that she loved him as well. “Good. Tomorrow I have to work, but after that we’ll sit down and have some fun. I don’t know what we’ll do, but it’ll be fun.”

“You’re a dork.” He smiled. It was fun having a nickname. He wasn’t thrilled he was a dork, but he loved the fact that she loved him enough to call him a name.
