CHAPTER 9
Irene blinked her eyes. The monsters are attacking the town yet Cruella remained here just to ask for some sweets? She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Nevertheless, Irene took out a box of cookies reluctantly with an amused smile and handed it to Cruella.
The latter's eyes twinkled and quickly took the cookies, opened the lid, and drooled at the sight of delicious cookies neatly arranged.
In a matter of seconds, the cookies are gone and Cruella lick her lips in satisfaction.
With hearty eyes, Cruella grabbed Irene's hands and leaned closer. "Miss Beauty, where did you buy those delicious cookies? Do you still have some more?"
At this time, Irene's face reddened like a tomato at the proximity. Cruella invading her privacy made her flustered.
"I-I baked them myself. A-And I only have a box of it which I gave you. So..." Irene stuttered as she had difficulty letting out those words.
Cruella pouted in dismay. However, like a bulb lighting in her head, she grinned as she stared at Irene like she wanted to devour her whole.
Irene gulped and shivered, her heart felt like they were about to leap out of her chest.
"After I defeat those monsters, can you bake me more cookies?!" Cruella asked eagerly in anticipation.
Seeing Cruella's puppy look and docile expression, Irene couldn't bear to refuse such a simple request. With a smile, she nodded and Cruella immediately let go of her while grinning.
"Cookies! I will come back immediately, Miss Beauty! Don't forget your promise, okay?" Cruella said dreamily while jumping like a child toward the exit. She seems in a good mood after tasting Irene's cookies.
Seeing her fading silhouette, Irene finally sighed in relief. However, she pouted her lips upon seeing the empty box of cookies. Her snacks were gone just like that.
"Ah, I never knew she liked cookies so much," she murmured.
On the other side, the adventurers gathered at the entrance with a solemn look. A few kilometers away, a horde of monsters was advancing toward the town at a fast speed.
"There were too many of them. Can we defeat them?"
"Yeah. The other A-Rank and S-Rank were not here at this time. We will be done for if we fail to defeat them."
"The heroes are here. We'll be fine!"
"Miss Cruella and Miss Evangeline are here as well. They could easily defeat a horde of wyverns last time, so I'm sure, we'll be fine. However, if worse comes to worst, we will just run!"
"You cowards only know how to run!"
"But only Miss Evangeline is here. I didn't see Miss Cruella around."
"No matter what, this is our town and we must protect this place with our lives!"
"Yeah!"
Although everyone was afraid of the outcome of the battle, they were still resolute in their decision to protect the town.
As Evangeline and the heroes listened to the discussion, they sneered inwardly in disdain.
"This is bad." Lexus Denver, a hero, uttered with furrowed eyebrows.
"What's wrong?" Dylan asked.
"The leader of the Demon Army is too strong. I don't think we can defeat him!"
"What level is he?"
"Level 350,"
"What?! Are you pulling my leg?"
"Were doomed."
"Miss Cruella will be the perfect opponent for the Demon General. But she wasn't here. On the other hand, Miss Evangeline is only Level 150."
"What should we do now?"
"We can only besiege the demon general ourselves and leave the minions to these adventurers."
"I guess that would work..."
At this moment, Cruella in her original wolf form appeared in the forest, hid her aura, and looked at the advancing horde of monsters. They were still a kilometer away but she hesitated whether to confront them head-on.
However, she thought of a problem. Everyone knows her human form and they will question her later if she didn't show up. But she wanted to use her devouring skill to eliminate the monsters at once to improve her overall strength. Only by using her devouring skills could she advance in her status.
On second thought, Cruella wanted some fun and also it's not advisable to defeat the monsters on her own. She has to allow others to improve their strengths as well.
After all, she will get a reward if she can defeat the leader. Moreover, she could make more money from the valuable materials of the monsters so she couldn't devour them all in one go either.
Cruella looked at her status and checked her hidden skills. Her eyes lit up when she saw the cloning skills. Although using these skills will take a thousand of her mind power.
She laughed exaggeratedly and immediately used her cloning skills. She summoned a clone of herself in human form. That way, she could fight with her human form and original form without hassle. She could fight at the front and the back. That way, she won't garner suspicion.
Soon, she relaxed and a devilish grin plastered on her lips.
She immediately sent the Clone Cruella to the others and she, in her original wolf form, ran at a fast speed like a flash of lightning as she circled to the back of the army without the monsters noticing. It didn't take her long to position at the back.
Since Cruella was in her original form, the other monsters thought she was one of them and ignored her. Cruella grinned menacingly and quietly devoured the monsters at the back. Since the monster's attention was at the front, Cruella's action was not noticed at all.
She looked at the Demon General at the top of a giant monster and checked the status. She snorted in disdain because she thought it would at least be at Level 500 or above. It was disappointing for her. She suddenly lost interest and let the Clone Cruella deal with him later instead.
It was as though the Demon General sensed an eye on him because he kept looking around vigilantly. However, the Demon General sweeps his gaze at his army but couldn't find any suspicious being. He shook off the thoughts away, thinking he was being paranoid.
However, he couldn't shake off the uneasiness in his heart and his eyelids kept twitching like something was amiss. Suddenly, he felt an ominous foreboding feeling like something wasn't right. But he couldn't pinpoint what it was.
Of course, the Demon General's slight reaction wouldn't go unnoticed by Cruella. The latter decided to toy with him!
Cruella smirked sinisterly while swiftly and quietly devouring some monsters again. She keeps doing it without the others noticing her sneaky action.
In the middle of it all, the Demon General finally noticed that something was wrong. It took him a long time to see that one-fourth of his army disappeared without a trace. He was dumbfounded and felt uneasy.
"Halt!" the Demon General ordered and the monsters abruptly stopped in their tracks waiting for the Demon General's command. "Army at the back, be vigilant! Look for the enemy and don't let your guard down!"
The monsters immediately heed the orders and growled loudly.
On the other hand, Cruella was amused at the Demon General's swift reaction.
Cruella didn't expect that it would be so much fun toying with these monsters.
They were like chickens looking at a needle in a haystack.
It would be challenging for these monsters to find the enemy because the culprit is a monster itself.
Cruella stopped attacking for a while and the army continued advancing when they didn't notice something suspicious at all.
A few minutes later, the demon army stopped walking three hundred meters away from the town.
The adventurers were ready to engage in the battle. Despite feeling uncertain of the outcome, they still choose to fight rather than watch these monsters devour them all.
"Attack!" both sides didn't beat around the bush and immediately engaged in battle.
Soon, the ground turned into a bloodbath.
The five heroes swiftly deal with the monsters besieging them. Their skills finally came in handy as they slaughtered every monster that came their way.
With Dylan as their leader, everyone's blood is pumping with excitement.
The adventurers quickly eliminate the weaker monster.
Of course, Evangeline won't remain on standby. She easily dealt with the monsters who attacked her head-on.
"Hmph! The audacity of you all attacking this peaceful town. I will send you all to hell!"
Swiftly and nimbly, Evangeline is like a demon craving for blood as she tortures every monster beyond recognition.
If someone saw her doing that, they would be chilled to the bones.
Well, that's the result of Cruella's training!
Evangeline was used to fighting monsters in the Dark Forest full of monsters!
Just as everyone focuses on their battle. A massive explosion caught their attention.
In just one move, hundreds of monsters were reduced to ashes!
The Demon General, who was near the explosion, was sent flying away hundreds of meters from the force. He suffered some injuries but since the demon has regeneration skills, he quickly jumped out of the crater and was suspended in the air furiously.
He was about to let out his rage when a beauty suspended in the air like a fairy descended from heaven caught his line of sight. He was completely stunned.
