Chapter 6
India
I knew one day some shit like this would happen.
I begged daddy to let me stay at the hotel, but he wouldn’t listen.
Now look at what’s happened. I was frozen with panic in the middle of a gunfight, and now I’m sitting on a jet with mean-looking Italian men going God knows where.
I wanted to get away from daddy but not like this.
The leader who daddy called Mr. Russo is the scariest of them all.
He sits across from me with sunglasses on as he yells into his phone.
“Did they get all the crates?” He asks. I watch as his jaw starts to tick. “Fuck!” he yells, standing then walking to the back of the jet.
The guy I heard him call Pietro glares at me then shakes his head. I hope they are not blaming me for my father’s treachery. I had nothing to do with his mess. I’m innocent in all of this.
“Do you want something to drink?” The blonde bimbo who frowned at me when I was dragged on board dryly asks.
When we stepped on the jet, Russo had his arm wrapped tightly around my waist. Every time I tried to pull away, he would tighten his hold then coarsely say something in Italian I didn’t understand.
So, I knew from her jealous expression, she must have been sleeping with him.
“Well?” The bimbo rudely asks.
I swear if we were in a different setting, I would put her in her place, but since I’m powerless at the moment, I’ll play nice. “Water, please.” She had the nerve to roll her eyes as she walked away. Bitch.
Minutes later, an angry Russo returns and retakes his seat across from me.
He doesn’t have on his sunglasses or his suit jacket this time.
Mysterious brown eyes encased in long dark eyelashes fixate on me, making me feel uncomfortable.
There was no denying Russo was a handsome man who had his shit together.
His hair was neatly cut in a trendy style that was a little longer on the top.
He has a well-groomed mustache that’s attached to a neatly trimmed beard.
His white dress shirt was undone, showing the gold chains around his neck as well as the dark hair on his chest. I still could see his defined chest through the shirt.
As he sat with his legs slightly opened, the muscles of his thighs were outlined behind the fabric of his trousers, not to mention the bulge sitting between his legs.
I quickly turn my head. Shit, why was I looking at this man like that? He kidnapped me for Christ’s sake.
“Who are you?” Russo questions, bringing my attention back to his handsome face.
“Excuse me?” I throw back at him. He raises his brow, and I raise mine.
“I asked who are you, you must be someone important to Okoye, so again I ask who are you?”
He didn’t know who I was. That might be an advantage for me. Maybe if he didn’t know I was the daughter of the Chief of my tribe, then he might let me go.
“I’m nobody.” I quickly reply.
He chuckles. “I beg to differ. The way Okoye yelled for you lets me know you must be someone special to him...say a relative or perhaps a lover. If I had someone of your beauty, I promise you wouldn’t be a relative.”
Wow, he thought I had beauty. Wait, was he trying to charm me? Yeah, that’s not going to happen. I’ve been around many of daddy’s associates who have tried the same thing and failed.
“I am neither. Like I said, I am nobody.”
The bimbo reappears and places a drink on Russo’s tray then clumsily sits my glass of water down, causing it to spill on me. I jump from my seat.
“Oh, silly me, did I get any on you?” She sarcastically asks with a smirk.
I step towards her. “Sit down.” Russo calmly orders.
Ignoring him, I take another step. “I said, sit down!” He says again with more authority.
He better be glad he had the upper hand because I would curse him and this bitch’s ass out.
I sit back down with a huff, folding my arms across my chest as my right leg bounces from anger.
“Matilda, apologize to my guest,” Russo demands.
“But it was an accident.” She wines.
“Did I ask you if it was an accident? Now apologize.” He commands.
She stomps her foot before turning to me. “Sorry.”
I smugly smile at her. “Apology accepted.” I then glance at Russo and add, “It must be hard finding good help, especially if your fucking them.”
Matilda gasps as Piero lets out a roar of laughter. Matilda looks as if she wants to put hands on me. She just didn’t know, if she stepped any closer to me, Russo wouldn’t be able to save her ass this time.
“Matilda, return to your station, please.” Russo directs.
She looks at him as if he’s grown two heads. “Are you going to let your black whore talk to me like that?”
The words barely left her lips before Russo and I are out of our seats, but I got to her first. I slapped her ass so hard it made her head swing to the left as she tumbled into the empty seats.
“You will watch how you talk to me. I don’t tolerate disrespect.” I grit between my teeth, daring her to get up and to try me again.
Russo takes his time going over to her. As he helps her stand, he says, “I told you before about your mouth. Not only have you embarrassed yourself, but you’ve just disrespected my guest. When this jet lands, you are no longer employed by me.
Find work elsewhere. Now, bring the lady another glass of water and try to spill it this time.
” He hisses before forcefully pushing her away.
With glassy eyes, Matilda holds her beet red cheek looking as if she wants to plead her case, but I think she knows it’ll do her no good.
She spins on her heels, making haste to the front of the jet.
Glancing out the side of my eye, I see that Russo has put his focus back on me.
Just from that little display, my inner voice was screaming not to play with this man.
He was freaking dangerous. I sit back in my chair and stare at the carpeted floor, avoiding his eyes.
“Now, where were we...? Yes, you were going to tell me who you are.” He recalls, picking up his glass then taking a drink from it.
Still avoiding his eyes, I restate, “I’m nobody like I told you. You should just let me go. I won’t be any help to you.”
“We’ll see about that.” Russo murmurs as he takes another sip.
Matilda returns this time, carefully placing the glass of iced water on my tray. “Thank you, Matilda,” I state, being messy. She glares at me before returning to her post.
I dare not drink from the glass, for all I know she probably spat in it just to be spiteful.
Staring at it, I shake my head and make the mistake of looking up.
Beautiful brown eyes entrap me. I can see now things are going to get worse for me before they get better.
I had to come up with a plan to get out of this mess my daddy has created, but first I had to find out where the hell Russo was taking me.
Cefalù! Cefalù, a city located in Sicily, is where this brute has taken me.
I’ve never even heard of this place! I don’t know when but I fell asleep only to be awakened by someone tapping on my leg.
Thinking everything that happened was just a bad dream, and I was in my bed back home, I stretched then opened my eyes.
I screamed when I saw Russo’s handsome face, mere inches away from mine.
He quickly puts his hand over my mouth, “We’ve landed, let’s go.” He searches my eyes before removing his hand and takes a step back. I take in deep breaths trying to calm myself. It wasn’t a bad dream, it was a freaking nightmare. This is really happening. “Let’s go!” Mr. Russo orders.
I fight back the tears that threaten to fall. I will not show weakness to this brute. I am the Princess of my tribe. Getting myself together, I rise from my seat with my head held high as I walk to the center aisle.
“You know, Miss India, you can say that you are nobody, but from the way you carry yourself, your body language says you are somebody.” Mr. Russo observes.
No words leave my mouth as I pass him, trying not to come in contact with his massive frame. He chuckles behind me as I briskly walk to the front of the jet. Matilda lowers her head as I pass. Good, with her rude ass.
The sun blinds me as I step onto the ramp of stairs.
At the bottom is Piero and two of Russo’s men, one being the guy who was shot in the arm.
When we boarded the jet, they rushed him to the back to see about his injury.
I guess it wasn’t life-threatening because he was standing there with his weapon drawn.
As I descended the stairs, a crazy thought pops in my mind.
Thinking it just might work, I put it into action.
Piero offers his assistance when I get closer to the bottom step by extending his hand out.
I take it, and when my feet are on solid ground, I face him with a smile before kneeing him in his balls, then take off running.
Freedom, I can just about taste it as I sprint towards the exit signs.
Suddenly, large arms wrap around me, lifting me off the ground.
I kick and scream, cursing the person who would dare keep me from my escape.
“That wasn’t nice, angel.” A deep voice whispers in my ear.
Russo. “You really could’ve hurt Piero. I know for a fact he wants kids one day, and you might’ve destroyed any chances of him continuing his family’s line with that little stunt you just pulled.
” I scream out in frustration as I wrestle to get out of his grip.
“Smettila (Stop it)!” He booms, halting my movements. “There’s nowhere you can go that I won’t be able to find you! You’re on my stomping grounds, so until Okoye gives me back my shit, you will be my unwanted guest.”
Fighting against his firm hold, I let out a cry of defeat as I let my body go slack.
As he practically carries me to the car, Piero’s angry gaze catches mine.
He looks like he wants to put a bullet through my skull.
I lean more into Russo’s body. Surely, he wouldn’t attack me while I was in his boss’s arms.
“That one there is going to need some taming, boss. I volunteer for the job.” Piero coldly hisses.
Russo lets out an evil laugh. “I’ll be doing the taming, Piero. She has a lot of sass and defiance that needs to be reigned in.”
“If you lay one hand on me, you’ll regret it! You will not treat me like you did, Matilda!” I growl, looking up at him.
His left eye twitches as he stares me down. A devious smile forms on his handsome face. “Don’t worry, Princess Okoye, I have other plans for you.”
Shit, he knows who I am.
