Chapter 5 #3

“If those are to your satisfaction, the shipment you ordered is at the shipyard,” I tell him.

“Yes, thank you. My son, Isaac, and a few of our men are there to oversee, then exchange.” Okoye smirks.

“Then, all that is left is for you to transfer my fee to the account that was sent to you, and they are yours.” I voice.

Okoye turns to the man on his right and gives him a nod.

The man pulls out a tablet and begins to peck away at it.

Seconds later, a beep comes from the right of me.

Angelo pulls out his phone and unlocks it.

He taps the screen then looks at me. He dips his head, letting me know the money has been transferred.

Angelo then sends a message to Snaps letting him know to hand over the guns.

I smile as I turn back to Okoye. “It was a pleasure doing business with you. Maybe we’ll have the opportunity again in the future.” I extend my hand out to him.

“Indeed, I look forward to it.” He says, shaking my hand as I get one last peek at the woman.

When he releases my hand, I turn to my men and tell them, let’s go. Taking two steps away from Okoye and his men, Angelo’s phone beeps again. He stops and looks down at it. His face turns red as he stares at the screen.

“What is it, Angelo?” I question.

“It’s gone! The transfer it’s gone!” He frantically taps the screen. “I swear the money was there when the guy transferred it, but now it’s disappeared!”

I feel my breath quicken as I spin around, pulling my pistol from its holster at the same time.

“Okoye,” I shout. His men draw their weapons and start firing rounds.

We crouch down using the cars as cover as we shoot back at them.

The asshole Oba shields Okoye as he ushers him to the car.

The woman screams as she slaps her hands over her ears.

None of Okoye’s men try to protect her as we exchange fire.

“Don’t shoot the woman!” I yell. “Piero, take out that mother fucker closest to her,” I command dipping down, taking out the guy in front of me.

When he has a clear shot, Piero hits the guy that’s a few feet from the woman.

As I get near her, I grab her arm, pulling her into my big body.

She continues to scream over the gunfire as I begin to drag her back to the car.

Three of Okoye’s men lay dead on the ground.

Oba, who has rejoined the gunfight along with the remaining three men, continues to let off rapid rounds.

“India!” Okoye hollers, standing between the car door and the car.

“Get down, Chief!” Oba booms.

“Aim for the fucking tires!” I bark as I open the back door of the car then shoving the woman in. Turning to Angelo, I shout, “Make sure she doesn’t get out!” He gives a quick nod and gets in behind her.

I creep back to the front where Piero is crouched down. Bullets have shredded both sets of tires on the front of Okoye’s cars. “What the fuck! How many rounds do you have left?” I hiss, taking a shot.

“Not fucking enough! I’m running low, and I know the boys have to be getting low too!” He replies, letting the clip drop from his pistol then reloading it. “This is it, boss.” Fuck! “Oh, shit, this can’t be good.” He whispers, staring straight ahead.

Following his line of view, I see Oba stand holding a Gilboa Snake assault rifle. “Everybody get down!” I yell as bullets start to pierce the metal of the cars. The woman screeches as I hear one of my men cry out. Shit! “We have to get the fuck out of here. Get in the cars!”

Angelo has the door open for us as we scramble back.

I dive in first, followed by Piero. Peeking out the window, I see Giuseppe and Nicco pull Victor inside the other car.

“Drive!” I scream to the driver who was laying over in his seat.

When he didn’t move, I knew he had taken a bullet.

“Fuck, he’s been hit! Piero, can you get to the front? ”

“Yeah, just keep me covered!”

Using the butts of our pistols, Angelo and I knock out the back windows. “Giuseppe, Nicco!” I shout.

“Yeah, boss!” Nicco shouts back.

“Is your driver still breathing?”

“Yeah, boss. He’s ducked down, but he’s still alive.” He replies.

“Alright, well on three, we’re going to give these mother fuckers everything we got! Our drivers down, and Piero needs cover while he jumps in the front!”

“We got him, boss!”

“Good, now let’s do this. One...two...three!”

We lean out the windows, giving them bitches rapid fire.

It was enough for Oba to retreat and Piero to jump in the front seat.

He reaches over the driver and opens the door pushing his dead body out.

He quickly starts the car and throws it in reverse, slamming on the gas.

Dirt and rocks fly as the tires spin before catching traction.

The other driver does the same as Okoye’s men open fire again.

When we’re far enough away, Piero hits the breaks as he roughly spins the car around, throwing it into drive.

“Everybody good back there?” He yells, as he drives like a bat out of hell, getting us as far away from the shootout.

I swivel to look out the back window. The driver of the second car is hot on our heels.

“Where are we going, boss?” Piero questions, as he quickly glances in the rearview mirror then back on the road.

I stare at the visibly shaken, beautiful woman sitting across from me. I don’t know who she is, but from the way Okoye called out to her, she must be someone important to him. This little beauty was going to be my bargaining chip to get my money back. “Take us to the jet.”
