Chapter 11 #2
Not that I had to explain anything to Rahmeek because I didn’t, he could believe whatever he wanted to.
I really didn’t give a flying fuck how he felt.
But at the end of the day, it wasn’t like that between Marlo and me.
Did we joke and laugh when we were around each other absolutely, it was a natural connection between us.
Our conversations flowed without much effort from either one of us but that didn’t mean anything aside from us being able to hold a conversation with each other.
Hell, Mikael and I joked all the time too, but I didn’t hear Rahmeek claiming I wanted him.
Did I find Marlo attractive, I did but at the end of the day he has a family and I wasn’t that girl to be sneaking and creeping behind any other female.
Rahmeek just couldn’t handle the fake that I didn’t want him.
His weak ass ego needed to make up a reason why.
“I don’t want nobody beside me, myself and I.” I rudely said to him over this entire conversation.
“Yet you be all in the niggas face making googly eyes and shit.”
“You know what I find odd? How you are always there to notice all this stuff. It’s giving stalker my nigga.”
“Nah, I ain’t start payin’ attention until I asked Lo to put me on with you and he basically told me you wasn’t on it. My nigga don’t ever block me when it comes to bitches unless he fuckin’ them.” Rahmeek gave me a condescending expression.
Hearing that Marlo had told Rahmeek I was unavailable was interesting. However, I wasn’t about to let Rahmeek see that he’d said something to catch my attention.
I gave Rahmeek a stale expression as I replied. “I can tell you he’s not fucking me, and neither will you. Now if you don’t need anything work-related, leave. I have a lot of work to get finished.”
“Bitch…”
“What you doin’ in here?” Marlo asked, coming through the front door cutting Rahmeek’s words short.
“Just droppin’ this paperwork off so shorty can log the shit.” Rahmeek said holding up papers in his left hand that I hadn’t seen until now. “Ain’t that what you pay her foe?” He slickly commented.
“But I don’t pay ya ass to stand in here tryna figure out if I’m fuckin’ Solana.” Marlo bluntly stated as he mugged Rahmeek.
“Aww shit, my nigga that wasn’t about nothin’” Rahmeek quickly tried to backtrack over his words. “I was just tryna shoot my shot nothin’ serious my nigga.”
“I’m aware. We already spoke on you shootin’ ya shot. No need for you to double check when I say somethin’ I mean that shit.” As Marlo checked Rahneek I tried to understand why it seemed like he was bothered by the thought of Rahmeek talking to me. In reality it shouldn’t matter who I talked to.
“You right, my bad my nigga.” Rahmeek said slightly, nodding his head then sitting the papers on the corner of my desk. “That was my last tow for the day. I’m finna be out for the day.”
“Alright,” Marlo replied and when Rahmeek stuck his hand out to dap him up Marlo stared at his hand like he wasn’t finna shake it. Finally, he half heartily dapped Rahmeek up.
“I’ll see you later G,” Rahmeek said shaking his head as he stepped around Marlo then heading out the door.
“That nigga been aggy as fuck lately.” Marlo said with a deep scowl.
“Lately or has he always been like that and you been putting up with it for years?”
“Probably that,” He chuckled looking at me and a chill ran down my spine when we locked eyes. “I hope he ain’t bother you too much.”
“Ah uh, no more than he normally does.” I stuttered to find the words I needed to say.
“He be fuckin’ with you?” Marlo questioned me and his eyes went dark.
“No, no, not like that.” I hurriedly said because the look in his eyes spoke volume to what he was thinking; he wanted to hurt Rahmeek if he was harassing me. “He’ll say a few trivial things then be on his way. Nothing I can’t handle.” I tried to reassure Marlo.
“Man, you full of shit. I’m finna run them camera’s back and see what that nigga been sayin’ to you.”
“I swear it’s not that serious. Today was the first day he ever said anything crazy.”
“And if that nigga keep trying you, you gon’ tell me, right?”
I cocked my head to the side looking up at Marlo to see if he was serious and I couldn’t believe he was. His face held no signs of laughter or joking. He really didn’t want me fucking with Rahmeek.
“Yesss, Marlo.” I said, finally giving into his intense gaze. “Even though I don’t get the big deal.” I thought I mumbled the last part low enough.
“It matter cause that nigga ain’t the right nigga for you. Ion know what kind of niggas you dealt with before but from now on you only dealing with niggas that’s finna treat you like the queen you are. You ain’t settling fa’ shit else.”
I had to bite my bottom lip to keep from smiling at Marlo’s words. I could tell that he meant every word he was saying. His sincerity touched me deep inside of my soul. I had never had anyone care that deeply about me or my wellbeing.
“How do you know I settled for anything before?”
“You really want me to answer that?”
“I asked you, didn’t I?” My smart reply was really a distraction for the fluttering I was feeling in my belly.
“Alright, so where ya baby daddy at? Why he got you and ya shorty livin’ in a bus and I ain’t tryna shit on how you livin’ either. I get it, you did what you had to do but in the long run you and baby girl deserve more. Like the skoolie shit should just be something extra. You feel me?”
“Well, my baby daddy is dead. Better yet he was actually my husband, but the nigga was terrible with money. Since neither one of us ever had a job, he put his mom’s name on everything, and she blamed me for his death, so she took everything from me.”
“Was it ya fault?” Marlo questioned me as he pulled up a chair to the front of my desk.
“Nope, I was trying to leave him. Sonni wasn't right for me. He had a lot of stuff I didn’t want to deal with once Sunshyne was born. He was looking for me the night he was killed so it became my fault.”
“Sounds like a bitch raised a bitch ass nigga. You his wife ain’t no fuckin’ way nobody shoulda been able to take shit from you.
Just off the strength of y’all’s seed. Even in death Imma make sure mine don’t want for shit.
I got a backup plan for my back up plan.
Real shit, if ya bitch ass baby daddy really gave a fuck about you or Sunshyne he woulda made sure you and baby girl had a place to lay y’all’s head for the rest of y’all live and at least left y’all with some money to live off of for some years. ”
“Yeah, I’ve come to that same conclusion a long time ago.” My shoulders dropped in defeat. Marlo was right when it came to my choices in men.
“Fuck that ho ass nigga and any nigga that step to you from here on out gon’ have to go through me.”
I giggled at Marlo and his seriousness. “And who are you supposed to be?”
“Ya best fucking friend.”
“Okay bestie,” I replied thinking he was just running his mouth, but he kept the same serious expression.
“I’m dead ass. I’m puttin’ belt to ass to these niggas when it comes to you.”
“I’m sure your girlfriend gonna be belt to ass to you when she finds out you wanna be my bestie.” I had to remind Marlo he has a girlfriend because clearly, he’d forgotten.
“She ain’t finna do shit and I am ya bestie. Get that shit right.” Marlo checked me giving me a hard expression.
I threw my hands up in surrender as I said. “Alright, big dawg you got it. We besties.” I laughed at the goofy grin that spread across his face.
“Now that we got that established you finna come get something to eat with me.”
“Is that you asking or telling?”
“Tellin’ fa sure. Let’s go.” He demanded standing up and nodded his head for me to follow.
“I guess I can eat,” I said as I slowly rose up from my seat.
