Chapter 37

Marlo Wattson

A Few Weeks Later

“Marlo, you know I don’t like surprises.” Solana pouted as she sat in the passenger seat of my car.

“Well too bad. Sit back and hush,” I jokingly told her and she rolled her eyes at me for the millionth time today.

I never thought my life would have turned out the way it had.

You couldn’t have paid me to believe my own blood would have tried to take everything I worked so hard for.

I would never call Maurice my dad again.

He wasn’t shit to me besides another nigga on the streets.

It was fuck him as long as I was alive. Same for Rahmeek’s weak ass.

He was so desperate to make a nigga who’s abandoned him love him.

If Rahmeek didn’t learn anything else from me about Maurice, he should have known that nigga didn’t care about no one unless he could benefit from them.

Even my mom had shown her true colors. I remembered growing up she’d preached about not letting nobody run over on us, but she’d turned around and played the dummy for Maurice.

She wanted us to be okay with her sticking by Maurice because he was her husband again.

I let her know I didn’t have shit for her.

She wasn’t finna be around me while she was standing by a snake.

No matter how she tried to justify Maurice’s actions the nigga I wasn’t fucking with it.

She’d wanted to lose her sons and grandkids for that nigga then that was on her.

I wasn't finna waste my breath on a grown ass woman mom or not.

Fallon’s slow ass had the nerve to call me from jail and beg for me to get her out.

I laughed and hung up on her dumb ass. She had me fucked up if she thought I was finna help her out.

I had nothing for Fallon and not even cause she fucked Maurice or Rahmeek.

It was how easy she did certain shit without thinking about how her actions would affect them.

I always moved thinking about our kids first and the fact that their mama could care less about them.

Yeah, I had nothing for that bitch. She could rot in jail with the niggas she was fucking.

“Whose house is this?” Solana asked as soon as we pulled up in front of the mini mansion. “And is that my skoolie?” Solana squinted her eyes, trying to get a good look.

Yeah, it was her skoolie. Life had been too unpredictable for me and my family.

I wanted to give Solana, Mason, Mallory, and Sunshyne a sense of normalcy and peace.

The first thing was getting us into a bigger house.

The townhouse was straight, but we all needed more room.

I was tired of not going after what made me happy.

I wanted to start really living my life to the fullest and I couldn’t see that without Solana and Sunshyne being a part of me and my girls life.

We were a family and it was time we started moving like a family.

“Ours if you stop asking so many questions.”

“WHAT?” She asked in amazing me as we drove up the long driveway.

“Yeah, I don’t want to play any more games with you.

I love you, Solana, and I wanna show you every day how much you mean to me.

How you helped me be a better man. Like you held me down during the darkest time of my life.

Mason and Mallory love you. It’s so much shit I need to make up to you for.

I just want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. ”

“Aww, I love you to Marlo,” She cooed cupping my face as we started into each other eyes.

“So that means you gonna officially be my girl?”

“Absolutely,” She smiled as I smashed my lips into her kissing her with everything I had in my.

The way she made my heart flutter I knew I made the right decision. Solana was going to be my wife.
