Chapter Eight

Gallows

Ilean back against the scuffed wooden table watching Hush and Coyote. They work in tandem, stripping the men down, getting in hits here and there to make them a little more compliant.

“Fuck me, they stink,” Coyote grumbles under his breath.

“That, my sweet, innocent brother is the stench of a meth head.” Jubilee offers with a grin.

“Hose ‘em down,” I growl.

As much as I enjoy watching my Enforcer and SAA break men down, I also want it to be enjoyable for those of us in the VIP seats.

Hush nods once, then heads over to the high pressure hose Momma keeps in here. It’s not lost on me that the place we gotta use for these types of moments is the same place Momma puts down Thanksgiving turkeys or the cattle that’ll keep the brothers well fed.

Coyote kicks one of the Sinister Wolves into the high pressure spray and the fucker is almost blown back by the force.

“Fuck me,” Jubilee mumbles beside me. “How the fuck did these junkies think they would take over our patch?”

I huff out a breath. If it’s not these guys, it’ll be someone else.

The thing city boys don’t get is the mountains.

All they see is hillbillies. They see a podunk town, we see family.

Generations spread out through every holler and back road for a hundred miles.

Folks around here are good people. Give you the shirts off their backs.

City boys look at that and see easy prey.

That’s why we’re here. Keep the outsiders respectful. In one way or another.

I click my tongue, “The thing about junkies is they always thinkin’ big.”

Jubilee snorts. He sits quietly beside me, but I know he’s itching to ask.

“Ask.”

“Huh?”

“Just ask, brother.”

He side eyes me for a moment, his ever present smirk sitting on his lips. “You ain't gonna just tell me?”

I raise a brow. If he ain’t gonna ask, I ain’t gonna tell.

He rolls his eyes, leaning slightly toward me. “How is she? Really?”

I stare at my brother, our bond forged not at war, but at the vet hospital. “I think she’s getting worse. Our trip to fucking Texas didn’t help.”

“I thought you said it’d be good for her.”

Closing my eyes I drop my head back, stretching my neck and feeling 60 fucking years old. “I thought so too. Devil’s Rose MC got too many ol ladies and kids. It just hurt her more seeing all them Kodak fucking moments and knowing she can’t have that.”

“But she can, her baby is right there, all she gotta do-”

I spin, turning on my brother, “You think Mercy is the type of person to go back on her word?”

Jubilee has the good grace to lower his gaze. Fuck. If it was that easy I would have helped my sister years ago. Unfortunately, she’s fucked up in a way I can never fix.

Taking a deep breath, I settle my ass back against the table, forcing my limbs to relax. “Look, just…give her time.”

Jubilee stares at me, his green eyes stark against his dark skin, “I won’t wait forever.” He holds my gaze until the door opens, Revenant moving like a fucking phantom across the floor.

Jubilee’s face morphs from serious to jovial. Good. Let him fuck with someone else. I’ve got an interrogation to watch.

Revenant

Jubilee greets me with a smile and I want to punch him in the face.

“Where’s the little lady?” His eyes dart over my shoulder, drawing a growl out of me.

There’s something seriously fucked up with him if he thinks I’d bring Sunny in here.

The place where we do depraved things to people even more evil than us.

Ignoring him I take my place on the other side of Gallows, eyes trained on the scene before me.

The way Hush secures the naked men on the meat hooks.

The way Coyote mimics his movements, but with less ease.

Hush is at home here. In the dim lighting, throwing punches, dragging his blades across their skin, making them scream.

I’m not like Hush. I’m a different type of dark.

Causing pain is Hush’s forte. Mine is revelling in them begging for mercy and knowing they won’t get it.

“Sunny settled in?” I grunt at Gallows' question, ignoring the look he’s giving me. “Don’t need any ol ladies up in here. Not one like Sunny, anyhow.”

I turn slowly, to stare at Prez’s profile. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Gallows doesn’t even bother to take his eyes off Hush as he works the first Sinister Wolf. “The DRMC have ol ladies.”

“And how is that related to Sunny?” I have no fucking idea why I’m so keyed up about this. Gallows' words just rubbed me the wrong way.

Gallows sighs, then turns to me. “The DRMC have ol ladies and they don’t fucking listen. They just cause trouble. We got enough trouble with the cut sluts. Don’t need to add more women to the mix. A pastor's daughter? No way.”

“Dunno Prez,” Jubilee butts in, rubbing his jaw, “I ain’t never seen a pastor's daughter take out three men before.”

Gallows jabs a finger in Jubilee’s direction. “Exactly the shit I’m talking about.” His eyes flick to me before his lips lift, “besides, Sunny is liable to shoot his big ass and then who will give last rites?”

“These men don’t need Jesus, Prez,” Coyote says, attaching something to the dick of one guy.

“Everyone needs Jesus,” I reply, the words tasting like ash.

I don’t know why or how the words come unbidden from my tongue. They just do. That’s how well practiced they are. I may not believe them, but I still recite them as if my life depends on it.

“Jesus won’t save them now, no matter how much they need ‘im,” Gallows murmurs.

The first Sinister Wolf starts crying and I can’t help the way my lips tilt up. They twitch even more when Coyote rolls up his sleeves, displaying only a fraction of the burn scars that cover his body.

“No, fuck, we’re sorry!” the first wolf splutters, eyes glued to Coyote.

Our SAA leans in real close, “It ain’t me you should be apologizing to,” Coyote teases, the smile on his face doing everything to terrify this man even more.

“Hush!” Gallows stomps his foot twice, gaining Hush’s attention. The brother came back from service partially deaf and wholly bloodthirsty. He looks up at Gallow, brow raised. “Keep em alive for a while. I want their Prez to sweat.”

Hush dips his chin once, placing his scalpel back neatly into his toolbox, pulling out a small wooden baton instead.

“Rev?” Gallows turns his head slightly, eyes on Hush and Coyote.

“Yeah?”

“Free up Wednesday for last rites.”

“That’s five days away.”

“I got a lot of questions.”

I nod, not that Gallows notices. Tapping the table behind me with my knuckles, I move toward the door. I’ll be back on day five to hear their cries.

I jolt slightly as Jubilee slaps me on the back on my way past. Only the dark come in here to watch, the others prefer to get their dicks wet.

I get it. Some of them had a near death experience.

Ain't no better way to feel more alive than blowing your load into the waiting mouth, pussy or ass of a cut slut.

“Hey Rev?” I stop, hand on the door handle, gaze over my shoulder. “She ain’t too good for you, brother.”

Yeah, Prez, yeah she is.
