Epilogue

Ten months later

Sitting at his desktop, Seth yells over his shoulder. “Javi just messaged me. He’s asking if we’ll be in Chicago at the conference. Says he saw your talk in the program, but not mine.”

I chuckle. “Well, he should know you’re new to the company, so it’s a little early for you to be the face of your research team.”

“Should I tell him I’m still coming, as a plus one, for a couple of days to support my lovely fiancée?”

“I think so. And I think you should use those exact words: I am coming to support my lovely fiancée.”

“Damn. But I don’t wanna tell them before the conference. I want to see their faces when you flash your new bling.”

I twist the ring around my finger. It’s exactly the kind of ring I’ve always wanted, beautiful and elegant in its simplicity, one that suits who I am because Seth knows me, he sees me, and he loves who I’ve become.

It’s a ring I’m delighted to wear as often as I can, because it’s from him. Because it’s us.

I’ve gotten so mushy, it’s disgusting.

I meet Seth’s eyes. “I don’t want to hide this from them...”

“Well, it serves them right for not letting me know the second you separated from Doug. Or at least the minute you took off that damn old ring, the bane of my existence. Now they get to see the new one in Chicago, with the rest of the world.”

I shoot him a serious look. “You really want me to hide our engagement from our friends for the next two months?”

Seth sighs. “No, not really. The idea of seeing their faces when you flash the ring does seem thrilling, but not as much as I want everyone to know we’re getting married.”

I walk over to him and sit on his lap, then kiss him softly. “And that I’m going to be your sugar mama after my new promotion.”

“You can be my sugar mama anytime.” He nuzzles my neck, sending a wave of desire all the way to my toes. “I’m glad Germina-TE sees how smart and capable you are. What an asset you are.”

I take his head in my hands and kiss him again. We get lost for a little while, until our breaths are heavy with pressing need.

“You want to respond to Javi’s message now, or...?” I slide off his lap and offer him my hand.

Seth gets up. “He can wait till after I eat you out. Then perhaps two more months for the ring.”

I snap my fingers in a eureka moment. “Speaking of rings, I wanna show you a new toy I’ve got.”

“I’m still mourning the loss of Mortimer,” he grumbles as I drag him by the hand.

My lavender vibrator, which Seth had named Mortimer because of the whole “la petite mort” thing, died two weeks ago after having valiantly delivered orgasm after orgasm for many months. I can’t bear to throw it out.

“Wait a minute.” Seth perks up. “Speaking of rings... Is it what I think it is?”

I cup his crotch and gently rattle it, making a buzzing sound. Seth takes a shuddering breath.

“Maybe we should tell Javi and Edie about that ring, too,” he says.

While I stroke his thickening cock, my mouth widens in an innocent smile. “We can always give them out as party favors at the wedding,” I coo.

“Well, we’d better thoroughly test it then,” he says, sounding a little ragged. “Wouldn’t want our elderly relatives to be disappointed.”

I laugh and drag him up the stairs.
