Why do i actually like this?

But rules? Rules were more like… suggestions.

Especially when something interesting was happening.

And this?

This was interesting.

Because when he’d crept past the bedroom door—completely by accident, obviously, he wasn’t snooping or anything—he saw them.

Chance and Guest.

Asleep.

Together.

Like, actually together together.

C00lkidd blinked. Rubbed his eyes. Blinked again.

Nope. Still there.

Guest was on top of Chance, curled up like some oversized cat, his face smushed into Chance’s hoodie. His arms were still wrapped around him, holding on like Chance was the only thing grounding him..

And Chance?

Chance had a hand in his hair.

C00lkidd’s jaw dropped.

This was huge.

Guest never did stuff like this. Guest barely liked to be looked at some days, let alone hugged. And now he was just… laying there? Holding onto Chance like he liked it?

Like he needed it?

C00lkidd covered his mouth, stifling a laugh.

Ohhh, he was so telling someone.

007N7.

He had to know about this.

Because this was major. This was unheard of. This was a historic event, like when Noob figured out how to use a microwave without setting off the smoke alarm.

This was news.

And C00lkidd loved news.

He turned on his heel and bolted, feet barely making a sound as he tore through the cabin. Past the kitchen, past the front door, past Builderman, who was still face-down on the couch, snoring like a chainsaw.

Straight to 007N7’s room.

C00lkidd didn’t even hesitate.

He threw the door open and launched himself at the bed.

?- “DAD! DAD, DAD, WAKE UP—”

A large hand landed on his face.

Firm. Unmoving. Completely unimpressed.

C00lkidd huffed against it, flailing for a second before 007N7 finally let go with a long, slow sigh.

His glasses were already slightly crooked, pushed down his nose as he gave C00lkidd the Look.

Not the angry look.

Not the you’re-in-trouble look.

No, this was worse.

This was the I’m too tired for this look.

- “What,” 007N7 said flatly, voice rough with sleep. “Could possibly be important enough to wake me up at—” He glanced at the clock.. Of course it didn't say the time so he just stayed silent

C00lkidd grinned.

?- “You won’t believe what I just saw.”

007N7 pinched the bridge of his nose.

- “Is it Noob trying to cook again?”

?- “No.”

- “Did Two Time break another chair?”

?- “Nooo.”

- “Did Elliot—”

?- “NO.” C00lkidd bounced on the bed, practically vibrating. “It’s Guest!”

007N7 stilled.

His tired gaze sharpened, all that exhaustion replaced with something much more focused.. He knew guest often had panic attacks.. But guest told him to leave him alone about it..

- “What about Guest?”

C00lkidd grinned.

?- “He’s cuddling Chance.”

007N7 blinked.

C00lkidd waited.

One second.

Two seconds.

And then—

- “You’re sure?”

?- “Yes!” C00lkidd threw his hands up.

?- “I saw it with my own two eyeballs! Guest is on top of him. Hugging him. With his face in his hoodie!”

007N7’s eyes narrowed slightly, like he was trying to decide whether or not this was some elaborate prank.

C00lkidd huffed.

?- “I swear!”

007N7 sighed, rubbing his temples.

Then, finally—after what felt like forever—he sat up.

?- “So? What do we do?”

- “Nothing.”

C00lkidd stared.

?- “What.”

- “Nothing,” 007N7 repeated, looking him dead in the eye. “We do nothing.”

C00lkidd gaped at him.

?- “But—but it’s Guest! And Chance! And they’re—”

007N7 raised a hand.

- “Leave them alone.”

C00lkidd shut his mouth.

That was the voice.

The Dad Voice.

The I’m Serious, Don’t Push It voice.

C00lkidd pouted.

?- “So I can’t tell anyone?”

- “Not a soul.”

C00lkidd flopped onto his back dramatically.

?- “But that’s so boring.”

007N7 just gave him the Look again.

C00lkidd groaned.

Crossed his arms.

Kicked his feet.

?- “Fine.”

007N7 nodded.

- “Good.”

C00lkidd huffed.

Because, ugh.

That was so unfair.

But.

…He guessed he kind of got it.

Guest was weird about people. About touch. If C00lkidd went blabbing about this to everyone, he might freak out and never do it again.

And, okay, yeah.

That would suck.

Because if Guest of all people was actually letting himself be close to someone, that was… important.

So, with a dramatic sigh, C00lkidd sat up.

?- “Alright, alright. I won’t tell.”

007N7 just gave him a long look.

- “Good.”

C00lkidd huffed.

?- “But I will be watching.”

007N7 groaned, flopping back onto the bed.

- “Why are you like this.”

C00lkidd grinned.

?- “Talent.”

007N7 just waved a hand.

- “Go. Be quiet. Let them sleep.”

C00lkidd rolled his eyes, sliding off the bed.

?- “Fiiiine.”

But as he padded out of the room, he couldn’t help but smirk.

Because, yeah.

Maybe he wouldn’t tell anyone.

But he’d definitely be paying attention.

Because something was happening.

And C00lkidd?

He lived for this kind of thing.

Chance's POV – Several hours later:

When Chance woke up again, it was different this time.

The warmth, the comfort—it felt like something he could hold onto, like it wasn’t going anywhere, like he wasn’t alone in it. And when he blinked his eyes open, the first thing he noticed was the soft, steady weight still on top of him.

Guest.

The realization made Chance’s chest tighten in the best possible way.

Somewhere in his sleep, they’d shifted again.

Guest was sprawled out over him, one arm draped across his waist, his body still pressed up against Chance's with that same lazy, natural heaviness from earlier. The way their limbs were tangled, the way their breaths had synced again... Chance couldn’t help but smile, even though the small part of him still couldn’t believe this was real.

He glanced down at the mess of dark hair that was resting against his chest, the way it tickled his collarbone when Guest shifted.

It was impossible not to trace the soft outline of his face, the gentle rise and fall of his chest as he breathed.

The entire thing, the proximity, the weight—there was no avoiding it now.

They were both too tangled, too close, and it was—

It was perfect.

It also meant that Chance had no intention of moving anytime soon.

But then—

Guest stirred.

The faintest groan rumbled from his chest as he shifted, his face pressing more firmly against Chance’s collarbone, his body curling even further into him.

It was a soft, lazy movement, the kind of thing that made Chance's heart trip over itself, just for a moment. He swallowed down a stupid grin, his hand slowly lifting to run through Guest’s hair again, a slow, calming motion.

No rush. No need to pull away.

They were still in this quiet little cocoon, where nothing had to make sense, where the real world didn’t have to exist for a little longer.

Guest made a noise, barely more than a hum, before his arm tightened slightly, his body shifting just a bit more possessively on top of Chance.

- "...Stop thinking so damn loud," Guest muttered into his chest.

Chance snorted, more than a little amused. He opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, his voice cracked.

- "Uh, I—I'm not thinking anything," Chance said, trying to keep his voice light, but that stupid, giddy grin was already fighting its way onto his face.

Guest, still half-asleep, let out a low groan of discontent. His face shifted against Chance's skin, and Chance felt his breath hitch as it ghosted across his collarbone.

- “Then why do I feel like you're gonna do something dumb?” Guest’s voice was muffled, thick with sleep, but there was no mistaking the playfulness lacing it.

- “Oh, I'm not the one who’s acting all clingy,” Chance teased, his voice sharp, but gentle, poking fun at the situation. "Look at you, wrapped up in me like I'm a damn blanket."

Guest’s eyes shot open for just a second, blinking sleepily, his face still pressed against Chance’s neck. His lips quirked in a way that didn’t quite make a smile but was close enough. He scoffed.

- "I don't know what you're talking about. You're the one who keeps running your hands through my hair." Guest paused, letting his eyes half-lid. "Not that I mind."

Chance felt his heart skip a beat. Did Guest... did he just admit that? It wasn’t a full-blown confession, but it was something. Something soft and unguarded. Something Chance hadn’t expected.

- “Maybe I like it,” Chance replied, unable to hide the way his voice dipped just a little, the warmth flooding his chest spreading throughout his body.

- "Figures," Guest muttered, a little gruff but still not moving away, still solidly resting against him.

Chance grinned, feeling a giddy rush run through him. He let his hand continue its slow path through Guest’s hair, fingertips brushing against the soft strands.

- “You’re really comfy, y’know,” Chance said, his voice quieter now, the playful edge gone as he relaxed further into the moment.

Guest hummed in agreement, his body shifting once again, this time more lazily, as if he didn’t want to leave this spot either. His chest pressed deeper into Chance’s, and he let out a content sigh.

- “I could stay like this forever,” Guest mumbled, still half-asleep, but this time, his voice was softer, less defensive.

Chance's heart hammered in his chest, his pulse quickening at the words. He didn’t know if Guest was just talking out of tiredness or if there was more to it, but either way, the words were like a shot to his heart.

- “You keep saying that,” Chance replied, his voice breathless, not trusting himself to say anything else.

- “I mean it,” Guest murmured. There was no hesitation now, just the quiet trust that he had been holding onto all along, unspoken but understood.

Chance could barely wrap his head around it.

- “Okay, well,” Chance grinned, despite the way his heart was thrumming. “If you’re gonna keep clinging to me, you better get used to me saying dumb things.”

Guest snorted, his lips brushing the skin of Chance’s neck as he huffed,

- “I think I can deal with it.”

For the first time in what felt like ages, Chance didn’t care about all the things that should’ve been awkward, all the things he should’ve been afraid of.

For the first time, everything just felt...

right. Guest was there, warm and heavy and real, and Chance was holding him close, wanting to remember every second of it.

Even if it didn’t last forever.

He tightened his arm around Guest just slightly, fingers grazing the soft fabric of his hoodie.

- “Alright, well, I think you owe me a nap now,” Chance teased, trying to shift the mood back to something lighthearted, trying to mask the way his heart was racing.

Guest huffed, the weight of his body shifting again as he adjusted to get even more comfortable, letting out a sleepy, grumbling sigh.

- "another one?.." He tried to sound annoyed, but his voice betrayed him.. Chance just nodded

- “You’re insufferable,” he muttered.

- “I’m comfy,” Chance shot back with a smirk, even as he let his fingers settle once again in the mess of Guest’s hair.

Guest’s fingers curled tighter against his hoodie in response, his breath warm against Chance’s neck.

- “You’re lucky I’m still tired, and I'm still taller..” Guest grumbled, even though Chance could feel the little content sighs that escaped his lips as he settled more firmly against Chance.

Chance laughed softly, feeling the quiet rhythm of Guest's breathing against his chest.

Yeah, it was real.

It was happening.

And for once, Chance didn’t feel the need to question it.

He just let himself stay there, nestled against the warmth of Guest’s body, fingers still threading through his hair as they both drifted back into the quiet comfort of the moment.

Because, right now?

Right now, everything felt like it was enough.
