Chance's POV – A Few Days Later:
Chance hadn’t really expected to find himself here.
He’d gone to Guest’s room just to check in, maybe bring him some water or just…
see if he was okay. After all, it wasn’t every day that someone came back from a mission injured, especially not when it was something as close to life-threatening as what had happened with Elliot.
Jason’s machete hadn’t exactly been a light touch, and the way the blade had come down on Guest’s arm—it had been too close.
Too close to being worse than just a scrape.
But now, here he was, standing in the doorway of Guest’s room, staring at the sight of the man himself sprawled out on his bed, looking a little too relaxed for someone who’d just taken a hit like that.
The tight grey shirt clung to Guest’s chest, showcasing the faint outline of his muscles, and the way his pants fit—well, that wasn’t helping Chance’s state of mind.
His gaze lingered for a moment, long enough to make his pulse spike in his ears.
Damn it, he was still trying to work through all the strange, confusing feelings he had about the other man.
But then Guest shifted slightly, his eyes finding Chance with a lazy, almost amused look, and Chance’s stomach did that weird, fluttery thing it always did whenever Guest was near.
- “Hey,” Guest said, his voice still a little tired, but not as annoyed as it used to be
-“You come to lecture me about taking care of myself?”
Chance shook his head, stepping inside, closing the door behind him, the soft click making the moment feel heavier than it should’ve.
-“No lecture,” he replied, crossing the room slowly, his eyes never quite leaving Guest. “Just wanted to see if you were… good.”
- “Good?” Guest smirked, his dark eyes glinting mischievously. “I’m perfect. Look at me.”
Chance couldn’t help but grin at the comment, his hands in his pockets as he moved to sit on the edge of the bed. The atmosphere between them was familiar but different—charged, like something had shifted between them after that morning, after the moments they’d shared.
But this was different.
This was new.
- “Mm, sure,” Chance muttered, eyes wandering again.
“Perfect. Except for the giant machete gash on your arm.” He bit back a chuckle, feeling the old playful tension rising between them, but it was almost…
more intimate now. “I’m just here to check on you, you know?
I don’t want you trying to hide it like you always do. ”
Guest rolled his eyes, but there was a softness in the way his body shifted, a vulnerability in the way he didn’t protest too much, despite the usual defensiveness that Chance had grown so accustomed to.
It was a little strange to see, but maybe it was because Guest wasn’t in his usual element—maybe he was just tired, or maybe, just maybe, he was starting to feel a little more comfortable.
The thought made Chance's chest tighten, though he’d never admit it aloud.
He stayed there for a few more minutes, the silence between them filling with unspoken words, their proximity almost too much to handle. The tension was palpable, electric, and it was taking everything in Chance not to just say something stupid.
Then, somehow, they ended up closer.
Guest moved as if he didn’t think about it—just shifting to sit up straighter, his hand finding Chance’s wrist in a lazy grip.
No words, just the soft pull that brought them closer together.
A moment later, Chance found himself sitting in front of Guest, somehow ending up right in his lap, his legs on either side of Guest’s, their chests only inches apart.
And then, all at once, everything changed.
Chance could feel the heat radiating from Guest’s body beneath him, the way his pulse quickened as he stared down at the other man, whose expression had shifted into something softer, almost uncertain.
There was a flicker of vulnerability behind those dark eyes, something that told Chance that this—whatever this was—wasn’t something either of them had fully expected or planned.
- “Chance,” Guest’s voice was low, his hand coming up to lightly touch Chance’s jaw, the pads of his fingers brushing over his skin like it was the most delicate thing in the world. There was a quiet hesitance to it, but also a quiet invitation.
Chance swallowed, unable to find his words. This wasn’t how he imagined things going. Not like this. Not with him straddling Guest in his bed, feeling the soft heat of the other man under him, the vulnerability in the way their gazes met and held.
But somehow, that tension between them felt right. He could see the desire in Guest’s eyes, the same confusion, the same longing, all wrapped up in the vulnerability that Chance hadn’t expected. He hadn’t expected this softness from him, not like this.
- “Guest…” Chance breathed, his voice suddenly rougher than he intended.
The next thing he knew, Guest had pulled him closer, one hand cupping the back of his head and the other gripping his waist as if to keep him in place. There was no hesitation in the way their lips met.
It was different than anything Chance had ever experienced. Soft, tentative at first, testing the waters as if neither of them were sure where this was going, but unwilling to stop. It was a first kiss, clumsy in its own way, yet somehow the most natural thing in the world.
Chance’s heart was racing in his chest, his hands finding their way to Guest’s shoulders, fingers clutching the fabric of his shirt as if to ground himself in the moment.
Guest’s lips were firm against his, his breath warm as he deepened the kiss, pulling Chance closer, his hands sliding lower to grip his hips and hold him still. The kiss turned from tentative to something more, more desperate, more real as their bodies pressed tighter together.
Chance sighed softly, fingers threading into Guest’s hair, tugging him closer as the kiss became more heated, more urgent, as if neither of them wanted to let go. And for the first time in a long while, Chance felt like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
He couldn’t believe this was happening—couldn’t believe the way the tension between them had turned into something he could no longer ignore. He didn’t know where this was going, or if it was just a moment that would pass, but he didn’t care.
For the first time in a while, everything felt like it had fallen into place.
And it was perfect.
When they finally pulled away, both of them breathless, Chance’s chest was tight with a thousand emotions he couldn’t quite explain. He met Guest’s eyes, his breath coming in soft pants as he smiled, that same giddy rush of joy flooding his chest.
- "May I be your boyfriend, chance? " he said, looking at chance with a smile.. Kinda unusual for guest
- "can you.. Repeat that again?" Chance's brain was going to overdrive.. He could barely princess the words that just left guest's mouth
Guest just sighed, kissing him again
Chance’s mind was still trying to catch up, his heart racing in his chest as the words may I be your boyfriend, Chance?
echoed in his head. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing—couldn’t believe that this moment, this intimate, chaotic whirlwind of emotions, had brought them here.
But when he felt Guest’s lips press against his again, warm and insistent, the confusion melted away, replaced by something simpler, something undeniable.
The kiss wasn’t rushed this time, not frantic or desperate, but slow, as if both of them were savoring the sweetness of what was happening.
Every brush of their lips felt like an unspoken promise, like this was something they both wanted but were too afraid to admit until now.
Chance felt himself sink into the kiss, his hands threading through Guest’s hair, his heart thumping so loudly he thought it might escape his chest.
When they finally pulled away again, breathless and flushed, Chance blinked a few times, trying to steady himself. His mouth felt dry, his chest tight with the emotions he hadn’t quite processed yet.
- “Wait, hold on… Did you—did you really just ask me to be your boyfriend?” Chance’s voice was hoarse, still in disbelief. His pulse was racing, and he couldn’t stop the smile that tugged at his lips, the one that spread across his face like it had a life of its own.
Guest’s expression softened, his dark eyes searching Chance’s face for any sign of hesitation or uncertainty, but there was none. Chance was looking at him, his heart full, his smile wide and genuine, like everything had finally clicked into place.
- “Yeah,” Guest murmured, a slight blush creeping up his neck as he dropped his gaze for a moment. “I know it’s… a little sudden, but I don’t want to mess this up. I don’t want to pretend like we haven’t been dancing around it for days now.”
Chance chuckled softly, his fingers still resting lightly on Guest’s shoulders, as if he couldn’t quite bring himself to pull away.
The tension between them had shifted, but it wasn’t the kind of tension that made him nervous.
No, this felt like the kind of tension that came with something real, something they were both ready to embrace.
- “It’s not sudden,” Chance said, shaking his head slightly. “It’s... it's perfect. Really. I just didn’t expect it to happen like this.” He gave a soft laugh, his voice thick with emotion. “But I want this too. I really do.”
Guest’s eyes brightened at the words, and Chance saw a flicker of relief in his gaze.
He had expected a joke or a playful pushback, maybe even a quip about how ridiculous the situation was.
But no, instead there was something almost vulnerable in the way Guest looked at him, something that made Chance’s chest tighten in the best way possible.
- “You really mean that?” Guest asked, voice soft but full of sincerity.
Chance nodded without hesitation, his heart in his throat. “Yeah, I really mean it.”
And that was all it took. The moment they’d been dancing around for so long, the one they’d both been afraid to confront, was suddenly out in the open. There was no turning back now, no denying it.
With a smile that made Chance’s heart flutter in his chest, Guest shifted slightly, pulling him back into another kiss, one that was gentler this time, almost like they were cherishing the simplicity of it.
The kiss was soft, lingering, full of quiet affection that spoke volumes without either of them needing to say a word.
When they finally pulled away, their faces still close, Chance couldn’t help but laugh softly, the sound caught somewhere between joy and disbelief.
- “So, we’re really doing this, huh?” Chance’s voice was low, but there was a sparkle in his eyes that told Guest just how much he meant it. “I’m your boyfriend now?”
- “Yeah,” Guest replied, his grin widening. “I guess you are.”
The words felt new, but they felt right. Everything about this, from the way they had ended up here, to the way their hands fit together like they were always meant to, felt like the beginning of something real. Something worth fighting for.
For the first time in a long while, Chance didn’t feel lost. He felt…
found. And it was all because of the man sitting in front of him, the one who had been more than just an enigma, more than just the gruff, mysterious guy who kept everyone at arm’s length.
Guest had proven to him—time and time again—that there was more beneath the surface, more worth getting to know, more worth loving.
And now, with everything laid bare between them, Chance couldn’t wait to see where this would go.
There was no script for what came next. No roadmap.
But that was okay. For once, Chance was willing to just let things happen, to be with the person who felt like home, even if they didn’t have all the answers yet.
As they sat there, wrapped up in each other, the world outside their little bubble seemed to fade away. All that mattered was them, this moment, and the promise of whatever was to come.
- “You’re stuck with me now, you know that, right?” Chance said, his voice low and playful, the grin never leaving his face.
- “I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Guest replied, his hand finding its way back to Chance’s, fingers lacing together with a quiet certainty.
And for the first time, neither of them cared about anything else. It was just the two of them, figuring out what it meant to be together, step by slow, perfect step.
