Ch43 Where is my wife?! #4

Rudraksh paused for a moment, a teasing thought crossing his mind, before he spoke up. "I was actually just wondering if you have completely lost your mind. I was thinking whether I'll have to take you to a mental asylum next."

Rivanya gasped out loud in absolute shock, her mouth falling wide open. "Hwwwww! How dare you, Rudraksh Vardhan! How on earth can you call me crazy?"

Rudraksh looked her dead in the eye, entirely unfazed, and teased back, "Crazy. Just like that."

Her anger flared up even more. Rivanya tightly crossed both arms over her chest, narrowed her eyes, and demanded sharply, "Then please tell me, Kuwar-sa which exact action of mine looked like madness to you?"

Rudraksh's playful smirk shifted into a slightly stern but affectionate expression.

"Yuvrani-sa, your absolute madness lies in the fact that you dared to walk into the den of those monsters entirely alone, without a single shred of protection. On top of that, you didn't even bother to inform me. If this isn't pure insanity, then what else is it, Sugarplum?"

Rivanya maintained her defensive stance, her arms still firmly crossed as she retorted, "First of all, my name is Rivanya, not Sugarplum. And secondly, I am more than capable of fighting my own battles. I have tolerated and suffered at the hands of those people my entire life,

so taking them on today was no big deal. Besides, aren't you the one who always tells me, 'Rivanya, you can fight your own battles, you are strong'? Well, that's exactly why I came here."

Rudraksh glared right back at her, his voice dropping an octave.

"And that is precisely why I called you crazy. I said you are strong, you idiot, I never said you were immortal! There were five heavily built men standing in there. They could have crushed you like an insignificant ant. And as for my second point..."

Before she could cut him off, Rudraksh stepped deep into her personal space.

He reached out with one hand, gently but firmly trapping both of her cheeks between his fingers and squeezing them together.

"You might be Rivanya to the rest of the world, but to me, you are my Sugarplum. And absolutely no one not even you can stop me from calling you that. Do you understand me, Sugarplum?"

Rivanya tried her absolute best to argue through her squished face, but her lips were moving awkwardly like an octopus, completely twisting her words.

Watching her hilariously cute struggle, Rudraksh couldn't hold back his laughter any longer and burst into a rich, hearty chuckle.

Seeing him openly laughing at her expense, Rivanya lost her temper entirely.

She lifted her foot and brought it down in a swift, hard kick right onto Rudraksh's foot.

Rudraksh groaned in mock agony, instantly releasing his grip on her face. In reality, that kick felt like nothing more than a gentle breeze to a man of his stature, but today, Rudraksh Vardhan was in full dramatic, showman mode.

Seeing him wince like that, Rivanya's anger instantly dissolved into panic. "Did I really kick you that hard? Are you actually in pain?" she asked, her voice laced with sudden worry.

Rudraksh continued his dramatic act, looking at her accusingly. "Wow, this is just great. First, you kick me with full force, and then you casually ask if it actually hurt? Your logic is truly unmatched, sweetheart."

A heavy wave of guilt washed over Rivanya.

Distraught by the thought of hurting him, she immediately began to bend down toward his feet to inspect the injury.

But before she could even lower herself halfway, Rudraksh's strong arms wrapped around her waist, effortlessly pulling her flush against his chest.

His playful tone vanished, replaced by an intense, deeply serious whisper.

"I let it slide today, but after this exact moment, don't you dare ever bow your head down in front of anyone else, Sugarplum. I will gladly bring the entire world to your feet, but I will never let you bow down not even in front of me."

Rivanya felt her heart completely melt at his words.

Honestly, what girl wouldn't fall head over heels for a declaration like that?

Especially when it was coming directly from her own personal husband.

The sheer intensity of the realization sent a rush of heat to her face; both of her cheeks flushed a deep, crimson red, and she immediately lowered her gaze, unable to meet his eyes.

Seeing her turn into a bright red tomato all over again, Rudraksh let out a soft smile.

He became utterly captivated by her blushing face.

Without even realizing it, he leaned down closer and closer, bridging the gap between them until his face was just inches from hers.

Finding her this incredibly close, Rudraksh seemed to lose every ounce of his self-control.

Rivanya kept her eyes glued downward, her heart beating so violently inside her chest that it felt like a frantic drummer.

However, her mind went completely blank when Rudraksh suddenly leaned in the remaining fraction of an inch and pressed a soft, lingering kiss directly onto her flushed cheek.

That single kiss turned Rivanya completely into stone.

A wildfire of heat erupted from her neck all the way to the tips of her ears; her blood rushed at a dangerous speed, leaving her cheeks and ears burning hot to the touch.

Rudraksh looked at her stunned, frozen reaction and let out a deeply satisfied smirk.

Leaning in close to her ear, he whispered in a dangerously intoxicating, velvety voice, "I'll be waiting for you in the car. Once you manage to turn your bright red tomatoes back to normal, come inside and take your seat, Sugarplum."

With a soft, triumphant chuckle, Rudraksh turned around, walked over to the car, and slid smoothly into the driving seat. Rivanya was left standing rooted to the exact same spot, completely breathless and utterly paralyzed by the warmth of his touch.
