Chapter Two:

Blood Sport

Sidney

Levi looks so fucking good I could die. His dirty blonde hair is perfectly fucked, hanging over his bloodshot green eyes that barely draw attention away from the rest of him.

Tattoos peak out of the collar of his black henley, fitted so well I can practically see the v line snaking into black jeans.

I really shouldn’t be staring like this.

“No way, you’re high!” he states obviously, a laugh bubbling out of him. “Why don’t you ever get high with me?”

Leo is late, which means Levi has chosen to play nice for now.

But I haven’t.

“You’ve never asked, which is funny because I’m usually the one supplying you.”

“I haven’t?” He thinks about that for a second before moving on. “Whatever, let’s smoke right now.”

He doesn’t need anything else in his system, especially when I have no clue what else he’s on right now.

And honestly, I don’t think I need any more, either. “I’m already a little too high and Leo will be here any minute. Next time, though.”

That wipes his smile away. For a second, it almost seems as though he’s going to say something — anything — to save me from this torture, but instead he brushes past me to go make himself a drink.

“I thought you were the only one allowed a plus one because Alaina doesn’t count?

” I hear him mutter to Bash, but as he’s explaining how serious Leo and I are now, the man himself walks in looking lost.

“There you are.” Closing the distance, Leo kisses my cheek and pulls me in for a hug so he can whisper, “Whose house is this again? I always forget who the singer is.”

Because you listen to rap. Don’t remind me, Leo.

“Bash, my best friend in the world and the guy currently not looking at you like he wants to kill you,” I whisper back. “The other one is...”

Standing straighter, he seems to realize who it is just as Levi slots his entire body in between us. “Do I get a hug too?”

His grin is a little too manic for my tastes, but Leo hesitantly obligates and hugs the only man I’ve ever loved. This is fine.

“It’s nice to meet you, Levi. I’ve heard a lot about you.”

“Have you, now? Like what?”

His head swivels toward me like he expects me to answer for Leo, and I have a terrible feeling I have to. Something about hearing Leo say ‘he moans your name when I fuck him’ out loud isn’t appealing to me. “I don’t ask you what you say about me. Why don’t we let secrets be secrets?”

“That doesn’t sound fun. How about —”

Whatever bullshit he was about to say is drowned out when Jonah and Yas walk in with their arms around Alaina. “Look who we found outside,” Jonah teases, but Bash is pulling her away from them without a word and carrying her away while he kisses up her neck.

At least we don’t have to watch him say hello to her. Something tells me it’d be either ridiculously adorable or absolutely nauseating.

“Oh, is this Leo? I’m Yasmin, it’s nice to meet you.” She shoves Jonah away when he tries to interrupt their handshake and introduce himself, and the entire time they’re breaking the ice, I feel Levi’s cold stare locked on me.

If it makes you feel any better Lee, I don’t want it to go down like this. I just can’t keep putting my life on hold for you.

“Don’t hog him,” I tease Yas. He might try to fuck you. “He’ll be here all night.”

“Promise?” she says teasingly, and I don’t miss the way her deep brown eyes flick to Levi. Does she know too?

Bash and Alaina come back before anyone even attempts to respond, and her cheeks are so flushed I have the feeling his hello was a little more than a cute little greeting.

At least I’m not the only one who blows quickly.

Claiming my not-boyfriend back, I lead him to the kitchen to grab him a drink. “Sorry, they can be a little intense. See why I kept you away for a while?”

“Yeah, for sure. Are you okay, though?” He looks around to make sure we’re alone. “He’s a little... much.”

He’s just the right amount of much for me, but I can’t exactly tell him that. “It’s just because you’re a shiny new object and he has nothing else to focus on. That’s Bash’s fault, but I digress. Do you want a drink? I’m so fucking thirsty.”

And also just had the horrifying thought that if I’m not careful, Levi might try to fuck Leo... and with my luck, Leo will say yes.

“Sure. Surprise me.” He puts a hand on my hip with a mischievous smile. “Tell me now. Do you want me to try to get him to play with us?”

While that might be the only way I ever get to have any of Levi, I don’t think I can handle it. Something tells me Levi would pay more attention to Leo just to piss me off and I’d end up crying with my dick in my hand.

Not a good look.

I make him a grasshopper as I contemplate how to answer, but now I have a whole new fear. “Do you want him?”

“Not really,” he admits. “He’s a little rough around the edges, and you know how much I like my boys soft. Something tells me he wouldn’t bottom either.”

I wouldn’t know, but I hope not. I’m garbage at topping.

Stupid thing to think about when I’m staring at the man I’m actively fucking, but whatever. Levi turned me into a monster, he just doesn’t know it. “Then no. I don’t share well, I’m the type to pick a favorite.”

And it wouldn’t be you.

Leo grins. “You’ll pick me. I already know how to make you come.”

“Well, thank fuck for that, huh?” Levi’s voice has my heart stopping in my chest. “Imagine being official with someone and they don’t even know how to make you come.”

The word official has Leo’s gaze flicking to mine, but I’m relieved when he keeps his mouth shut.

An open relationship is still a relationship, even if it doesn’t always feel like it to me. “I’m sure women everywhere know that feeling well. Luckily for me, it’s not that hard.”

“It’s not exactly easy either,” Leo argues. “You can’t get off unless it hurts at least a little.”

Well, I’ll go die now.

Levi’s entire body twitches. I’d have missed it if I wasn’t aware of every move he makes, I just wish I wouldn’t spiral about it until the day that I die. “Knew you were a deviant little thing.”

Thank God I don’t have much to work with, because it’s easy to shift my body to hide the boner that gave me behind Leo.

I’m not as fine as I tried to convince Bash.

My high is already starting to fade and I’m in that stupid sweet spot where suddenly, having both of them inside me sounds like a great idea.

If only it wouldn’t make me hate myself.

“Let me guess, there’s a joke about the quiet ones always being freaks in there?” I ask.

“Nope. No jokes here.” Levi grabs the whiskey from the table and walks away, leaving Leo staring after him with confusion on his face. “I thought you said he didn’t want you?”

“He only looks like that because Bash wouldn’t let him bring anyone to fuck. Normally he just tortures me, but now he can’t, and he’s upset about it,” I mutter, staring after him as my boner rapidly disappears. “He doesn’t actually want me.”

Leo takes his drink from my hand and then tugs me after him. “I think you’re wrong,” he whispers before we enter the room again. “He just doesn’t deserve you.”

He doesn’t let me respond to that, which is good, because right now I’m tempted to argue with him.

Levi deserves everything good, he’s only a trainwreck because he doesn’t think he deserves love or loyalty or anything nice.

I’ve long believed that if he could just find someone like me who would do anything to show him what love really is, he’d settle down.

He just needs to want it bad enough to chase it, and that’s not me.

I avoid Levi’s gaze as we sit down at the dinner table and wait for whatever Bash called us here for, but it’s hard. Every part of me is drawn to him.

Bash’s amber eyes are flicking between us like he wants to ask what happened. Levi seems to be chugging that bottle of alcohol and I probably look like I forgot to breathe, but Alaina reaches over to squeeze his hand and snaps him out of it.

“Alright, so I’m sure you’re wondering why I wanted to have everyone over, so I’m just going to say it.

With the tour coming up, I don’t want to go another day without this woman being my wife, so we decided to get married in two months.

” He smiles down at her, and leans in to kiss her nose. “Time for a shotgun wedding.”

The table goes from dead silent to erupting in cheers, me among them.

“Is she pregnant?” Jonah asks, checking out her stomach which is just the same as it’s always been. “I’m kidding!”

“Pregnant? No! I mean, I wish — no. No babies yet, but not for a lack of trying on my part. I keep her pumped full—”

Alaina clamps her hand over his mouth, and I find myself thanking a God I don’t believe in for it. None of us need the visual.

“Congratulations,” I laugh. “Is there anything I can do to help prepare? Or are you eloping?”

“You can help with everything, actually. Thank you for offering,” Bash replies swiftly, but one look from his bride-to-be has him switching up.

“I mean... no.” She rolls her eyes. “Yes? Maybe. We’ll talk more about that later.

For now just keep complimenting us and telling me how lucky I am for bagging my stalker. ”

I can’t say for sure, but I’m 95% positive she grabs his balls under the table, because his eyes widen in terror and Yasmin stands up to get the attention off of them. “That calls for some shots. Everyone go grab your liquor of choice.”

Oh, goodie. Shots.

I’m such a lightweight I hardly ever drink at all, and it’s part of what makes me a good handler. It’s also something every single person in this room is aware of except for Leo.

Following hesitantly, I keep to the back and stay silent, hoping they don’t notice I’m missing.

I don’t usually get what I hope.

“Here you go.” Leo hands me a shot of vodka. “Your best friend is getting married. Let’s have a fun night.”

“I second that,” Levi chimes in, a shot in one hand as he tosses the other arm over my shoulders. “But he already smoked today, so l think one is enough. We don’t want our pretty boy feeling sick before 10pm, do we?”

Pretty boy is already feeling sick, though he doubts it’s because of the drugs. “No, we don’t,” I agree, using all the chaos inside of me to give me the balls to take the shot. It feels a little like swallowing a knife, but I hand my empty shot glass to Leo as everyone around me laughs.

“Looks like he’ll be taking two after all,” Leo says. “I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure you were supposed to wait for the rest of us. It’s a toast.”

I’m toast.

Playing it off, I shrug, somehow ending up even closer to Levi. I can feel the heat of his body pressed to mine, smell the cologne that drives me crazy. One shot was a bad idea. Two is worse.

He takes one for himself in solidarity, then grabs the shot glass from Leo to go refill them both for us, when he returns, he hands me mine without meeting my eyes and leads the way back to the dining area.

I already feel the loss.

Plastering on a nervous smile, I follow everyone and stand around the table waiting for something to happen — but everyone’s looking at me.

Why are they looking at me?

“Do I have something on my face?” I ask, touch my cheek as they all chuckle.

“You’re the adult here, blushy. Toast us away.”

Levi winks at me as Bash hastily agrees, sending alarm bells ringing in my head, my heart, my stomach, and also my cock. Levi needs to quit doing that.

“I’m terrible at this sort of thing, but here goes.

Bash, you’re welcome.” I pause to see if anyone laughs, but no one does, and it just makes me more nervous.

“That was supposed to be funny, but fine. Jokes aside, I’ve never met two people the universe was rooting for more than you guys.

From your childhoods to now, your paths crossed for a reason.

You’ve always needed each other, and I’m over the moon to know you’ll always have each other now.

Mainly because that means I don’t have to find people willing to sleep with you now, but anyway. ”

Bash grimaces as Alaina looks at him like he’s in trouble, but I can see it’s playful.

They aren’t the type of people to hold their pasts against each other, they’d both be hypocrites.

“Yeah, you’re right. You’re terrible at this,” he jokes, and of course everyone laughs.

He claims he’s kidding and holds up his shot glass with a grin when I roll my eyes.

“I’d be lost without you, Sid, and you’re right.

Our paths crossed twice for a reason, and now I’m going to make sure we stay on the same one.

Here’s to never giving up on the ones that love us the way we don’t realize we deserve.

When you take your shot, I want you all to think about who that person might be for you, and make a choice to love them back the same. ”

I feel Levi staring at me, and when I dare to toss a fleeting glance his way, I find him frowning. He almost looks sad, but instead of saying anything, he tosses his shot back and leaves the circle just as I take mine, realizing with a jolt that Levi filled it with water for me.

It’s so unexpectedly sweet that I want to follow him and hug him, but something tells me that would be a bad idea.

“To be fair, I wasn’t done,” I mumble. “But yeah, it’s probably best you finished it. Sorry, guys. I love you both and I really am happy for you.”

I just wish I was happy for myself.
