Chopper

“Where are you injured?” I pull back enough to stare down at my girl. I don’t want to move her too much and risk hurting her even more.

Her eyes flutter shut and open again. She’s barely holding on and I swear if her heart stops, so will mine.

“Everywhere,” she whispers as her eyes slide shut and her body goes limp in my arms.

“Roxy! Roxy, open your eyes!” I roar.

I place two fingers on the side of her neck and feel for a pulse. Her heart is being strong, but she’s not responding.

“Get a van around here!” River hollers out the door.

Storm appears at my side and helps me get Roxy out of the building and into the back of a van. River glances back at us before taking off towards the main road.

“We’ll get her to the hospital. I have a friend who works in the emergency room. You can trust her. She won't ask any questions. She’ll make sure Roxy gets taken care of and there won't be a police report if you don’t want there to be.”

“I want Wilson to suffer,” I growl. “Make it last longer than until morning.”

“I'm sure Whiskey will happily comply.”
