Two loud bangs fill the air as the doors swing open and slam into the concrete walls next to them.
I watch in surprise as seven men storm the entrances. Three on one side and four on the other. Each has a gun raised and their attention focused on the center of the room.
I glance at Wilson, wondering how he’s going to respond, but the wimp is cowering behind me. He has a pocket knife that he’s trying to flick open, but his hands are shaking too badly to accomplish it.
“Get away from the girl,” a man’s voice booms. I don’t know who he is, but River is standing next to him, ready to charge Wilson.
“No! She deserves to die!” Wilson’s voice is so high pitched I actually wince at the sound of it. I don’t know how the Sinners were going to let him patch. He’s not cut out for a motorcycle club. Not even a little.
“The only person who’s going to die today is you,” Chopper growls from my left.
My eyes fly towards his voice and as soon as my gaze lands on him, I feel like I can finally breathe. He won't let anything happen to me. I know it.
Before Wilson can get his knife open, River and another man rush him at the same time. There are a few muttered curses before Storm joins the party.
Storm picks him up by the back of his neck and tosses him on the floor like a sack of flour. Another man I don’t know kicks Wilson in the ribs hard enough that he had to break some bones.
“Don’t move from that spot,” the older man growls again.
Before I can even process what’s going on, Chopper’s at my side. He’s untying the restraints and checking me out for injuries.
I don’t need to be strong. I can fall apart because Chopper’s here to save me. He’ll get me out of here and somewhere safe.
The thought has a smile spreading across my face as I lean into him. He’ll always be my protector.
“You’re ok, baby. I’ve got you,” he whispers as he gently tugs me into his arms. I whimper in pain and he freezes, not wanting to hurt me. “Where are you injured?” His voice is so soft and perfect. I blink slowly as the darkness starts creeping in all over again.
“Everywhere,” I whisper as it consumes me and everything goes black.
