Chapter 8
NAOMI
"So, did I earn a real date?"
Sin and I stood at my car door, him refusing to let my hand go, although I'd tugged at it twice now.
"I was on my best behavior and kept you laughin'."
Smiling, I agreed with a nod. "A deal's a deal."
Sin smiled as he pulled me in for a hug.
"Where do you plan on taking me? I came to this restaurant because some of the players said it was very lowkey.
I like to stay out of the way as much as possible during the season.
All that negative energy put out by some of the gossip blogs and people who are just nosey as fuck tends to fuck up the team morale.
I'm aiming for a championship this year, so I gotta move accordingly. "
Sin's fingers grazed my lips. "I heard what you said, but you sound sexy as fuck, and I got lost in it."
Smacking my teeth, I pushed at his hard chest.
He snickered and brought me closer. "How about I make you dinner?"
Immediately, I shook my head. "I'm not coming to your place."
"Why not?" He chuckled.
"It's a setup, is why," I answered.
Sin chortled.
I grinned. "Exactly."
"Nah, that's not why. I find what you said funny."
His hands skirted down my back until he'd reached the small of my back. I thought we were standing pretty close until he brought me closer. I felt his dick through his jeans, sparking my insides.
"I find it funny 'cause I don't have to seclude you in my four walls to get you to do as we both please." Sin's eyes held every sin he would do to me as he seductively spoke. "The minute you open up to me, it's gon' be a wrap."
"That's what you say," I countered. "I'm a busy woman, so don't expect me to be available at your every beck and call."
"I'm a busy man, so I fully understand."
"What is it you do?" I decided to ask, remembering what PJ had said in the car. Pointedly, I eyed his Maybach, which Zoo and PJ stood by. They were in deep conversation, which had me curious. Neither of them committed a felony tonight, so I was really itching to know how their dinner went.
"I own a construction and architecture firm along with Zoo and our cousin, Brooklyn," he responded.
My eyes snapped back his way. "No offense, but construction and architecture allow you to afford that?"
"None taken." Sin chuckled. "My family has a bit of a crazy-ass history... One that I won't bore you with. However, JSC has been around for quite some time. We cater to some pretty wealthy clients, so business is always on go."
"I wanna be bored," I said, making him laugh. "What kinda crazy history? Like strait-jacket crazy, or..."
"Nah, baby." He laughed. "More like Godfather-type history."
Eyes bucking, I questioned, "Really?"
He grinned and confirmed.
"Damn," I mumbled. "Peeg's ass was right."
Sin busted out laughing. "Right about what?"
Sighing, I said, "She said only kingpins, athletes, and entertainers drive cars like that."
Sin laughed harder, drawing Zoo and PJ's attention.
"You and ya sister wild, mane," he commented.
Shrugging, I gave him a once over and wondered if getting involved with him was a good idea.
"That's my family's past, though. We're good now," he assured.
Pushing my lips to the side, I side-eyed him.
"I'm serious," he insisted. "The most you'll see me do is smoke a lil', but the shit relaxes me."
I smacked my teeth and snickered at the innocent face he made.
"Don't let a lil' illegal activity keep you from a good man," he noted.
This time it was my turn to bust out laughing.
"You're opening up to me already."
"Says who?"
"I'm getting a date, right?"
Reluctantly, I nodded.
"That's all I need for now. The rest will flow as it should when soulmates meet."
Blushing, I cut eye contact. Sin said shit that made me feel him, and I didn't like that.
"I think you're over-exaggerating, Jamison."
"Mmm, I think you betta stop saying my name like that."
"I didn't say it any type of way," I replied.
"You said it a way, baby. But I'll let it go. Gimme a hug, so y'all can get home. I've kept you long enough."
We were already hugging, but Sin took it to another level by squeezing me so tight that he lifted me off my feet.
I giggled as my feet dangled, and I held onto his neck while he buried his face in my neck.
His lips grazed my skin, producing chills throughout me.
Once he placed me back on my feet, he took his phone out.
"Put ya number in," he requested, handing me his phone. I did as he asked and waited for him to buzz my phone. When it trilled, he grinned.
"Don't be mad when I'm blowin' you up all times of night," I joked.
"Pretty soon, you're gon' be waking up next to me, so whatever you have to tell me will be said face-to-face."
Again, I felt my face heating.
"You're jumping the gun, aren't you? I haven't decided if I like you yet."
One side of Sin's mouth lifted in a half-grin. "Oh, you need another hug?"
Before I could respond, he had my feet dangling again as he squeezed me and put his lips to my neck. I laughed this time, completely caught off guard by Sin's bomb-ass personality.
SIN
It'd been two days since I'd seen my lil' baby, and I was determined to lay eyes on her today. Getting up, I decided to start my day a little differently. Usually, I was still knocked out and didn’t wake up 'til seven-thirty when it was time for me to get up for work.
Today, I felt rejuvenated and wanted to do something else.
Once I was dressed, I grabbed my keys and headed out the door.
I sat in the parking lot a few minutes before getting out to head inside. When I got in, I saw her car pull up. A big smile stretched across my face when I saw Naomi headed inside the gym.
"Hey, Kel... what are you doing here?" She stopped speaking to Kelly when she noticed me standing there, ready to work.
What shocked me more was when she walked over and threw her arms around me, embracing me.
My head rested on the top of hers as I hugged her back, inhaling the scent of her pony-tailed hair.
"It's our morning workout session. You know I wouldn't miss this for the world."
"It's my workout session, Sin, not ours," she corrected.
"I beg to differ. When you introduce me to what you love, it becomes a part of what I love. So, let's get it. Light walk on the treadmill, weights, stair master, and back on the treadmill for a five miles cooldown, correct?"
Shaking her head, Naomi smiled at me. She was hard playing hard to get, but no matter what, I would still end up chipping away at those guarded walls of hers, breaking her down, piece by piece.
"How 'bout we have breakfast instead? I can go for some hash browns, bacon, pancakes, with a big ass glass of orange juice," she suggested.
"Where you want to get that from?" I quizzed, looking at my watch.
"Your place." Naomi winked at me and headed back out the door. "I'll follow you there."
I got back inside my car, and she did the same, then followed me out of the parking lot and back to my place.
She was lucky my mama taught me some shit, and it wouldn't be hard whipping up everything she wanted.
Hopefully, this would win a nigga some brownie points, especially when I don't cook for anybody.
Naomi won't be just anybody after afterwhile though.
When I said she would be my wife the first time I laid eyes on her, I meant that shit.
"I'm glad I skipped the gym for this," Naomi let out with a stretch of her entire body. "I'm stuffed."
"I can tell. Those washboard abs you had turned into a barrel of beer quick as fuck," I teased.
"You got jokes, I see." Laughing, I pushed back from the table to pick up our plates. She offered to wash them, but I loaded them into the dishwasher instead.
"Come sit with me." Getting up from the table, Naomi walked over and took a seat next to me on the couch. "Thank you for this."
"For what?"
"I know how much you love the gym, and to change that just to spend some time with me means a lot.
You couldn't pay me to believe we would be where we are now, with the way things started between us.
I thought you would never give in to me, not anytime soon, anyway.
With the type of man I am, though, I wouldn't have given up.
When I see something or someone I like, I stop at nothing to show them that I'm in pursuit of happiness, and I'm gon' get that shit too, lil' baby. "
"It was just breakfast, Sin."
"Breakfast today, ‘I do’ tomorrow. Call it what you want, baby."
Blushing, Naomi looked at me before pushing me back on the couch so that I was lying down, then snuggled between my legs, allowing her head to rest on my chest and her arms to rest at my side.
This shit was all fresh, but I could see now that I'm gon' need moments like this on the regular, and I'ain gon' wanna hear no either.
"I'm a little upset at myself for waiting this long to fully give in.
No lie, I liked you from the very beginning, but I couldn't let you know that. I refused to let yo’ ass know that.
Plus, I knew it was a mere sexual attraction because I hadn't been fucked in so long, and I knew nothing about you, so that was based on looks alone.
The way you smelled, the way you looked at me, and your voice sent chills down my spine.
It was something about you that I wanted, but also something about you that I was afraid of. "
"Baby, you ain't eva' gotta be afraid of me. I'll never do anything to hurt you in a way that'll make you cry for help. You'll cry, but it'll be from me delivering deep death strokes by touching places that clearly haven't been touched in a while," I stressed.
Looking up at me, Naomi's eyes traced my lips, encouraging me to lean in for a kiss. Surprisingly, her lil' mean ass didn't pull back.
When a moan escaped her lips, I knew I had her. Not sexually, but mentally and once you got the mind, the body followed.
