Chapter 15
FIFTEEN
KENEDI
As I pulled the bacon out of the oven, I smiled at the flowers Sincere had set on the table for me.
Every week, he brought me fresh flowers to put on the kitchen table, and it was one of the sweetest things ever.
I had officially begun to feel as though his home was my home, and it was such an amazing feeling.
Although I knew it wasn’t mine, which meant that I really needed to start looking for my own place.
I had been procrastinating on it because, for one, I wasn’t sure that my parents wanted me to leave, and two, I was stacking up so much damn money that it didn’t make sense for me to leave before I was ready.
So, until I was ready to make that move, I was going to continue the setup that I had.
I did feel like I needed to start staying at my parents’ home a lot more, though.
I didn’t want Sincere to grow tired of me, seeing as though we spent so much time together at work, and then outside of work, too.
“It smells good as hell in here,” he said, coming behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist as I finished the eggs.
“Thank you. Everything is pretty much ready. I didn’t want to start the eggs until you were out of the shower. They’re almost done, though.”
“Okay, cool. I’ll grab the plates and drinks. Your usual orange juice?” He asked, kissing my neck.
“Yep, that’s fine,” I said, turning the burner off and scooping the eggs onto both of our plates.
I wasn’t really a big egg person, so the majority of them went onto his plate.
I honestly wasn’t a big breakfast person at all, but being with Sincere had me cooking a lot more than I normally did, especially breakfast, since it was his favorite meal.
While we were both into health and fitness, and making sure we took care of our bodies, I wasn’t big on breakfast. I normally had a coffee and called it a day.
“So, I wanted to talk to you about something,” I said, sliding into the chair he pulled out for me.
“What’s on your mind?” He asked, taking a seat as well.
“I’ve been thinking that I need to start looking for my own place soon. I know my parents don’t mind me being there, but I don’t want to continue taking up their space. The same way that I don’t want to take up too much space in your place.”
“Why would you think you’re taking up too much space in my home? I wouldn’t have you here all the time if I didn’t want you here.”
“I know. I just don’t want you to get tired of me. We already see each other all day at work.”
Getting up from his chair, he came to my side of the table and gently pulled me up and my body into his.
Kissing my neck, he caused a flurry of butterflies to swarm in my stomach.
Those butterflies shot straight down to my pussy, and I could already feel my juices leaking out.
The way this man had control over me made absolutely no damn sense.
And if things were going to continue feeling this good, they didn’t have to.
“There is no amount of time that we could spend together that would ever make me get tired of you. I feel like I’ve waited my whole life for you, and if I could, I would have you with me every second of the day.
And, if it were up to me, you would never leave my home.
The only reason I would want you to leave here is because I’ve upgraded us to something bigger and better.
Which has always been my plan for you and us. Are we clear?”
“Yes,” I said as best as I could.
“You don’t sound too confident in that response. I feel like I need to make sure we’re on the same page,” he said, lifting me from the floor and carrying me over to the couch.
Laying me down, he kissed my lips and then trailed kisses down to my pussy.
Once there, he stopped, opened my robe, and exposed my naked body underneath.
Smiling at the sight before him, he covered my pussy lips with his mouth, and my body instantly lifted from the couch.
Placing his hand on my stomach to hold me in place, he dove in and began to kiss, slurp, and softly pull on my pussy until I was squirting in his mouth.
“Do you understand that with me is where I always want you to be?” He asked, gripping my thighs and pulling me further into his mouth. I wasn’t even sure how the hell he was breathing, nor did I care. If that was how he had to go, then so be it.
“Yes, I understand. Fuck, I think I’m about to cum again,” I said, feeling my abdomen tighten up as another orgasm ripped through my body.
“Good,” he said, kissing my pussy as I came down from my high. “Now, come ride your dick and then we can head out for the day.”
After showering, we made our way to grab some coffee and then do a little shopping.
Being with Sincere was like night and day compared to being with Ray.
It wasn’t that Ray didn’t spoil me and buy me nice things because he did, but with Sincere, everything was intentional.
It wasn’t just about the money he spent.
It was about what he got me and how he listened to me when I spoke about things that had caught my attention.
For example, we were currently at an exotic plant nursery in our city, trying to find the perfect plant for me to put in the sunroom at his house.
I mentioned how, when I did have downtime, I liked to sit out there and read, and I heard that having a nice plant would just make the vibe even cuter for me.
So, when he told me that was why we were here, it made my heart smile.
Having a man who listened to you and took notes was something I never wanted to go without ever again.
“What do you think about this one?” He asked, walking over to probably the most beautiful plant I’d ever seen in my life.
“It’s beautiful. But it’s five thousand dollars,” I said, pausing to pick up the price tag next to it. “That’s a lot of money for a plant,” I said, gently brushing my fingers along the vines.
“It’s not a lot of money if it’s something that you want.”
“What if I kill it?”
“Then I’ll buy you another one.”
“Ah, I see you’re looking at the Monstera Deliciosa Masterpiece.
It’s a very rare plant, which is why it’s expensive.
It can be a little tricky to care for, but with the right environment, it could thrive,” the salesman said, coming over to where we stood.
I guessed he could sense my hesitation and felt as though it was time for him to step in and try to do his selling.
“She’s thinking about putting it into the sunroom in our home,” Sincere said, pulling me closer to him. I found he did that a lot. I assumed it was just part of him being protective. It always made me feel safe and loved, and it didn’t bother me at all.
“That could work. However, it would have to be insulated and kept cool. Oh, and shaded. If you can do that in that area, it could thrive and be just fine.”
“We can do that. When can you have it delivered?”
“Give me one second to check the books.”
“Are you really going to buy a five-thousand-dollar plant for me?”
“Yeah, I am. I’ll buy every plant in here if that’s what you want,” he said, looking me directly in the eyes. I knew he was telling me the truth, too. I didn’t see one hint of deception in his eyes.
“Okay, thank you, baby,” I said, kissing his lips.
If he wanted to spoil me, then I was going to let him do just that. We spent the rest of our day running around and enjoying the city. We did so much shopping that he had to have Dani bring another truck to take everything back to the house.
Now, we were sitting in the sunroom with my new plant, and I had finally convinced him to play his guitar for me.
I never truly knew what got Sincere into music, but after listening to him play his guitar, I could see the love for it in his eyes.
He could’ve easily been a musician, but I knew he wouldn’t love having the spotlight on him like that.
“I could sit out here forever listening to you play while I read,” I said, smiling as I looked up from my Kindle.
“Whatever keeps you at peace,” he said, placing the guitar down and kissing my lips.
Smiling, I replied, “I’m definitely at peace when I’m with you. That’s why I love you so much. You always know the right things to say to melt my heart.”
“I just speak my truth, and I love you, too.”
We spent the rest of the evening sitting in the sunroom. We eventually ordered Chinese takeout and called it a night. We both had to get back to work the next morning. While both of our lives were chaotic, I enjoyed that we made time for each other even in the midst of our busy work schedules.
“Hello, Ms. Mathis, it’s nice to meet you,” the officer said as he took a seat in my office.
I wasn’t sure why they were here, but I knew that it had to be something serious if they were popping up at my job. The only thing that I could think about was the shit I did with Zaveah coming back to haunt me.
“It’s nice to meet you as well. How can I help you?”
“We just wanted to stop by and talk about Logan Peters and Raymond Daniels. I know that you had a close relationship with them both.”
“I wouldn’t say that I was close with either of them, especially as of late. Raymond is my ex-fiancé, and Logan and I worked together at my previous job. Neither of those relationships ended on good terms. So, I haven’t talked to them in a while.”
“Yes, we heard about that. Would either of those relationships have ended in a way that things would’ve turned physical on either side?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Okay, I understand. Is there anyone that you know of who would have reason to harm either one of them?”
“I’m sorry, I don’t. Did something happen to them?” I asked, confused about why he was questioning me about either one of them.
“Yes, Ms. Peters was the victim of a home robbery gone bad, and Mr. Daniels home caught on fire, and we’re just trying to make sure that we cover all of our tracks here.”
“That’s horrible. Are they okay?”
