Chapter 18
EIGHTEEN
SINCERE
It had been a couple of days since Ethan thought it was a good idea to kidnap Kenedi, and I had been on ten ever since.
I was doing my best to keep my rage under control while I ensured that Kenedi and my kid were straight, but now that I was sure she was good, it was time for me to take care of other business.
What I had originally planned for Ethan wasn’t good enough now that he had touched what was mine.
I had really hoped his ass would get the fucking picture and keep it moving, but clearly, that was out of the window now.
“So, after we handle this nigga, you’re really done with this shit, huh?” Mitch asked, passing me the blunt.
“Yep. It’s time for me to walk away from this shit while I still can. I don’t want to overstay my welcome,” I said, ashing what was left of the blunt.
“I hear that. It’s just crazy that not too long ago, we were talking about expanding, and now you’re walking away from everything. It couldn’t be me, but I definitely understand and respect it.”
“Yeah, love will have you doing some crazy things,” I said, shrugging.
I thought that when the day came for me to bow out, I would feel some kind of way about walking away, but honestly, the only thing that I felt was peace.
While I loved both sides of my business, I could admit that no longer being involved in the street shit would make life a little bit easier and certainly more peaceful for myself and my woman.
While it was never the plan to be here, I didn’t regret a thing.
“Indeed. Well, there they go, let’s go handle this nigga so I can get you back to wifey. And, I better get an invite to the wedding, too, nigga,” he said, leading the way to the warehouse.
The moment we walked inside, all eyes landed on us.
I could’ve been loud and caused a scene with the way that I handled Ethan, but I didn’t feel that was necessary.
Sometimes the best way to handle a situation was to do the shit quietly and let niggas draw their own scary conclusions.
That way, whenever they thought about fucking with me again, they’d have their own nightmares to keep them from making that stupid ass decision.
“So, what the fuck did you bring me here for? Huh? To kill me? You could’ve done that without wasting my time or your gas,” Ethan said, taking a seat in the chair.
“Trust me, if I only brought you out here to kill you, you would’ve been dead a long time ago. You have to know that after the shit that you pulled, we’re way beyond me just putting a couple of bullets into your body, right?”
“So, what the fuck am I here for then? For you to gloat? You won, and I lost kind of shit? Be for real, nigga,” he said, laughing.
“You know, when I was younger, one of the things that I admired about you the most was how headstrong you were. You never let a motherfucker throw you off your square, you know? Now, I see that shit as stupidity. However, it’s too late for you to learn a lesson about the shit.
Maybe in another life you’ll be able to truly get the fucking picture. ”
“So go ahead and kill me then, nigga. What the fuck are we doing all this talking for?”
“You’re right. Let’s get this shit over with. I have an appointment to be at.”
Mitch went outside to grab the packages that we’d been waiting for.
While I didn’t plan on being loud in the streets about how I handled Ethan, I was definitely going to make sure that nigga knew that, whether it be in this life or the next, Kenedi was not the fucking one for him to play with.
But I’d already learned that he was more of a show than tell kind of person, and I was perfectly fine with giving his ass a hands-on lesson.
“What the fuck? How the fuck did you find them?” He asked, seeing his family standing in front of us. As he attempted to jump from his seat, Mitch pushed his ass right the fuck back down.
“You know how I knew you would never win this so-called war that we have going on? It was when you thought that you were the smartest person in the room. You thought that keeping the fact that you had a family all these years a secret made them untouchable by me, and that was where you fucked up. I know everything about everybody, and I’ll use that shit when I need to.
And before you ask, hell no, I don’t feel bad about anything that’s about to happen right now.
I gave you the opportunity to walk the fuck away, and you chose not to.
So, this is the result of your stupidity. ”
“Ethan, what did you do?” His wife screamed, attempting to jump at him.
“Your husband thought he could play my game and win, and the price for his loss is your lives and his,” I said, bringing her attention to me.
“But my kids. They’re just babies.”
“These motherfuckers are twenty-one, hardly babies,” Mitch said, shaking his head.
“They’re a casualty of war. My girl was pregnant when your husband thought it was a good idea to kidnap her from my party.”
“But I didn’t hurt her, though,” he said, finally speaking up. For a second there, I thought the motherfucker had gone mute or something.
“You did that shit because deep down you knew that if shit didn’t go as you planned, you would need that as a bargaining chip. Because we both know that had you hurt one fucking hair on her head, I would’ve turned into a fucking monster that you didn’t want to deal with.”
“And what do you consider this? Hurting my whole family like this? This is you turning into a fucking monster!”
“Oh, this is me handling the shit in a civil manner. Trust me, I had other plans for you that would’ve made this shit seem like a fucking fairytale.”
“Look, this has nothing to do with us. This is between our father and you. Just let us go and handle him however you see fit,” his son said.
“Damn, even your own family doesn’t want to fight for you,” I said, shaking my head.
Unfortunately for them, though, that was not how this shit worked.
He might’ve spared Kenedi, which I was extremely grateful for, for whatever his reasons were, but I, on the other hand, wasn’t so fucking forgiving.
“So, we have two options here. Option one, you can each take one of these guns, and shoot until well, the shit is done. Think of it as a game of Russian roulette until everyone loses. Or option two, your father can take my gun and shoot each of you, and get it over with a lot faster. The choice is up to him,” I said, turning from them to Ethan.
As they all cried and Ethan shook his head no, I waited for them to calm down.
None of them were walking out of here alive.
How long it took them to put themselves out of their misery was up to them.
Well, really, it was up to Ethan as the burden of how his family was taken out was entirely up to him.
“So, what’s it going to be, Ethan?”
“You have to be out of your fucking mind if you think I’m going to take my own family out,” he barked as he again attempted to jump from his chair. He didn’t get far before my fist connected with his jaw. After stumbling back, he sat his ass back down in the fucking chair.
“That was not one of my options, motherfucker. Now, are we playing Russian roulette, or are you going to end this shit for y’all? Make a choice before I make it for you.”
A couple of minutes later, the tears began rolling down his face, and I knew he had come to a decision.
I already knew which option he would choose, because it was the same one I would if I were in his position.
It was much easier for him to take them out and get it over with than to keep dealing with them, shooting the gun, and seeing who dropped first.
“I’ll do it,” he said, holding out a shaky hand for me to place the gun. As I placed the gun in his hand, Mitch stood next to him with his gun pressed to his temple, just in case he got any ideas.
“I’m sorry,” he cried, looking his family in the eyes.
“Let’s go, pull the trigger, nigga,” I said, lifting his arm and forcing him to aim the gun at his wife.
A few seconds later, he pulled the trigger, and her body dropped.
Turning to his son, he did the same thing, followed by his daughter.
Taking the gun from his hand, I walked over to them, shot each one in the head, and ensured that they no longer had any life left in them.
I didn’t have time for a motherfucker to still be breathing when all of this was said and done.
“Just get it over with,” Ethan cried, dropping to the ground in front of me.
The sight before me was hard to watch. This man used to be someone I looked up to.
Sure, our memories about how things used to be differed, but he was still someone who helped me find my footing in the game.
Never in a million years did I think that things would’ve turned out the way they were.
But that was how shit went down in the streets sometimes.
They were extremely unpredictable, and niggas didn’t always return the loyalty that you gave to them.
“You know what, you’re right, it’s time to be done with this. I have somewhere I need to be. Get the fuck up,” I barked, grabbing him by his neck and walking him over to where his family was. “See you in the next one,” I said, aiming the gun and shooting him twice in the head.
Even though I wanted to do so much more to him, I knew that I couldn’t.
he was still working with the feds, and as Reese said, I had to make it look like an accident so that nothing would point back to me.
So, while the rest of his family was disposed of, he would be dropped off in an alley somewhere.
It was going to look as though he tried to buy drugs, and things went bad.
As I pulled up to the doctor’s office, I forced myself to shift out of the streets’ version of myself and into the version I wanted Kenedi to know me for. I knew that she wasn’t dumb, and from what she already knew about me, she knew that I wouldn’t just let the shit with Ethan ride.
