36 | ☕ Water They Doing? ☕ #4
When Atlas finally reached the bottom, he emerged with an overly dramatic flair, panting and wiping his forehead as though he had just survived a life-or-death experience. His face was flushed with a mix of mock terror and suppressed laughter, and he looked at Anya with a playful, exaggerated frown.
Anya was doubled over with laughter, clutching her stomach as she struggled to catch her breath. She hadn't expected him to pull something like that, and the pure absurdity of it had caught her completely off guard. Her cheeks were flushed with laughter, the sound of it filling the air between them.
"That was... that was amazing," Anya managed to say between fits of giggles, wiping tears from her eyes.
Atlas shot her a mock glare, though it was clearly not serious, and then his lips curled into a grin as he playfully shrugged.
Anya wiped her eyes, still smiling. "I think you've just proved that no one is ever going to take you seriously again," she teased, her voice still tinged with laughter.
After a few more trips down the slides, Atlas and Anya found themselves headed toward another that twisted and turned like a gigantic corkscrew.
Each new slide appeared less intimidating than the last, and with each twist and turn, Anya felt a little more at peace, her heart lightened in a way it hadn't in years.
Atlas accompanied her every step of the way, occasionally prodding her with amusing gestures or giving her a silent thumbs up as they rose to the summit.
It was a basic task, but it seemed like a minor win for both of them.
By the time they had done a few more slides, their energy was high, and their laughter still echoed around them, mingling with the sounds of water splashing and children's voices.
Anya felt herself finally starting to let go, her worries and doubts fading, if only for a little while.
Atlas, ever watchful, never strayed far, always ready with a comforting smile, or a quick hand to steady her if she wobbled.
When they'd had their fill of the slides, they wandered around, taking in the full chaotic charm of the water park—the brightly coloured concessions, the groups of people huddled around picnic tables, the vendors selling neon slushies and oversized pretzels.
And then, as they passed by a brightly lit photo booth near one of the entrances, something caught Anya's eye.
It was one of those old-fashioned booths that promised silly, fast photos with props—the ideal keepsake for a day like this. Anya looked at Atlas with a teasing spark in her eyes. "How about it?" she questioned, her tone light and playful, with a rare trace of mischief. "Want to make a memory?"
Atlas took a quick glance at her and appeared somewhat apprehensive.
But then his lips curled up into that old, silent smile, which made her heart skip.
He nodded and gestured toward the booth, as if he accepted her challenge.
Without saying anything, he moved over to her and held the curtain open, inviting her inside.
The picture booth was small and had an aged but comfortable vibe to it. A row of colorful decorations hung on a rack nearby—silly hats, huge spectacles, feather boas—and Anya couldn't stop laughing when she saw them. She took out a pair of massive sunglasses and slipped them over her face, grinning.
"Ready?" she asked, her voice full of mischief as she turned to Atlas.
He tilted his head, his expression thoughtful, and then his hands moved, signing with a teasing grin. "I'm always ready. Let's make these pictures memorable."
Anya chuckled, feeling a thrill run through her at how effortlessly he slipped into the playful mood. She felt her pulse quicken as they both moved closer to the camera. The booth flashed to life with a small beep, and the first photo snapped, catching them in mid-laughter.
"Next!" she called out, grabbing a feather boa and draping it around Atlas's neck, laughing at how ridiculous it looked on him. He played along, striking a goofy pose as if he were some kind of model in a cheesy magazine.
Another flash, and another picture was taken. The booth captured them in another goofy moment, Atlas trying to balance a giant hat on his head while Anya tried to stifle her laughter behind a pair of oversized glasses.
They did it again, and again—each photo strip a testament to their joy, their laughter, and the growing bond between them.
As the last picture was taken, Anya leaned against him, feeling a sense of peace wash over her as the camera flashed for one final time.
She could feel Atlas's presence beside her, steady and grounding, and for the first time in a long time, it felt like the world was truly hers to enjoy.
When the photo booth finally spat out the strip of photos, Atlas took it from the machine and handed it to her with a soft smile. He signed something with a grin. "I think we look pretty good together."
Anya glanced down at the photos, her heart swelling in her chest as she looked at the goofy images of the two of them—playful, light-hearted, and completely at ease in each other's company. She could see the love in the way they stood together, even in the silly poses.
"You're right," she said softly, her fingers tracing the edges of the photos, feeling the warmth of the moment settle inside her.
