Chapter 37

CHAPTER

THIRTY-SEVEN

SYLAS

“I don’t like this,” Jasper grumbles as he watches the camera feed on his phone.

“She’s done this a million times. She’s going to be fine,” I tell him, crowding him as I watch from over his shoulder.

“This is different. She’s used to working within New Orleans city limits, not Baton Rouge. Different jurisdiction, different police department. We’re on their turf now.”

“True, but, it’s the NOPD that is in charge of this case. Anything Butterfly Killer related will be handed over to them,” Wesley points out.

“We just need to make sure she leaves no evidence behind, and we will have one of our own people call in an anonymous tip.”

“Can’t we lure this girl to New Orleans, and have Nola do this in our territory?” Jasper asks.

“We could, but that would take more time, more effort, and us getting involved more than we should. We don’t have to do much, two or three kills at most. All with women he’s been seen with in public.

We can pull any footage needed to help build a case against him, but honestly, Nola’s grand finale plan will be good enough to put him behind bars for good. ”

“Don’t even get me started on that,” Jasper growls, his furious eyes darting my way. “And the fact you two are on board with it is fucking ridiculous.”

“You worry too much.” I wave him off. “Trust me. You need to remember Nola isn’t the girl we thought she was.

She’s shown us that much. The girl can handle herself, and it’s the hottest thing ever.

But we’re going to be with her every step of the way this time.

We wouldn’t allow anything to happen to her, would we? ”

“No,” he snarls. “Never.”

“So stop worrying and watch.” I point to the phone.

We’re currently sitting in an unmarked SUV across the street from Roscoe Landry’s mansion. He’s been out partying with a group of women all night and brought them back to his place.

We’ve done enough digging on this motherfucker over the years to know how he works. It’s always good to know your enemy’s habits. You never know when they’ll come in handy, like today for instance.

Roscoe never lets any of his hookups stay over. He uses them and tosses them away. He doesn’t even bother getting them a ride home, often making them walk. It brings him joy. Fucking asshole.

Not that we can talk much, we never really put much thought into the women we’ve hooked up with after it was over, we’d just send them on their way.

What can I say, we’re not nice guys. But the women we had in the past knew what they were getting into when it came to us.

We were open, honest. We told them we weren't nice people. I mean, if you’re signing a waiver to fuck us because your life could literally be at risk, then you’d be stupid enough to think we’re going to be kind and see you home safe.

At least we had the courtesy to give those women a choice. We never forced ourselves on a person. We didn’t have to. Girls were lining up to have a chance to be with us.

Roscoe, however… he will charm the pants right off you, make you believe he’s a kind man when he takes you home. Then, behind closed doors, all of that changes.

We haven’t seen it for ourselves, but based off some of his past hookups we’ve managed to see, well, you know what we did to Scarlett? Pretty much that, but worse.

We’re fucked in the head. We like it rough and kinky, but we’d never beat the shit out of a woman or rape her if there wasn’t consent beforehand. And yes, that is all in the waiver we made them sign.

“How much longer?” Wesley grumbles, leaning back in his seat and lighting up a cigarette.

“Really?” I grumble. “Right now? At least open a fucking window.”

“Smoke will draw attention.” He blinks at me, taking a puff.

“I fucking hate you,” I sneer.

He grins, flipping me off.

A notification on my phone catches my attention. Looking down, I see a text from Lola.

Lola Girl:

How's everything going?

Me

Nothing so far. She’s still inside.

Lola Girl

No rush. I’m just listening to music while I wait.

Smiling, I shake my head.

Me

Let me guess, Ashnikko?

Lola Girl

Of course, who else would I waste my time listening to?

There is so much we’ve learned about Lola in a short amount of time that we’ve been friends again. For one, her love for butterflies. This girl has been raising and preserving them for years. How the fuck did we not put two and two together with a name like the Butterfly Killer?

I guess it never in a million years would have crossed our minds that it could ever have been her because we really had ourselves convinced she was too sweet, too pure.

This girl is anything but.

Her favorite artist is Ashnikko, she loves to go for walks at night, and hates pork chops but loves steaks.

She is a big cuddler, a needy little cock slut who can’t get enough of us. I’ve never seen someone so sex crazed in my life.

And I fucking love it.

For someone who's only ever been with us, I guess she’s catching up on all the time she missed being on our dicks. Not that we have an issue with it.

We’ve pumped that girl full of cum, so much so that I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets pregnant.

With my sister being best friends with my girlfriend, I used my big brother privileges and bugged Callie for information. Stupid girl code made it so she couldn’t tell me anything.

But when I brought up birth control, she was quick to talk. I guess the chance to be an auntie beats keeping that bit of information a secret.

So, Nola isn’t on any form of birth control, and I want to keep it that way. If Jasper finds out, or if I bring it to his attention, he might try to put her on it.

I want all the babies with that woman. I want to be the best fucking dad I can, to show my son or daughter that I’m nothing like my father.

Before Nola, the idea of children made me laugh. I didn’t want them. But now? Now everything is different.

I want it all with her. She would make an amazing mom. And fuck me, seeing her round with my baby has my cock rock hard just thinking of it.

“What is Nola saying that has you palming your cock?” Wesley asks, raising a brow.

My eyes jerk up to his, and I frown, looking down to see I am in fact gripping my erection.

“She said she can’t wait to choke on my dick till she passes out.” I wink.

He rolls his eyes. “Mhhmm.”

“There’s movement,” Jasper announces, sitting up. We all lean in to look at his phone. A woman walks through the gates. She’s slow, a little hunched over, like she’s in pain.

“That does not look like a girl who just had some mind-blowing sex,” Wesley comments.

“She looks rough,” Jasper mutters.

“I almost feel bad for the girl, but she won’t be in pain much longer.”

They both look at me with raised brows. “I said almost.” I hold up my hands. “I don’t know the girl, I have nothing against her, but we have to do what we have to do.”

“Text Nola,” Jasper says as he climbs into the front driver's seat and starts up the SUV.

For our kill tonight, we’re keeping it simple.

There’s a park down the street from here where Nola is waiting.

We’re going to bring the girl there, take care of her, and leave her body to be found by a late-night jogger.

Our guy will send in the tip to Officer Johanna, the lead detective on the Butterfly Killer case, and report what he found.

We just need to make sure no one else comes across the body and calls the brPD first.

We wait a few minutes, relieved she’s heading in the direction of the park, before Jasper pulls out of our parking spot. We slowly follow the girl down the street.

“Hey, Lola Girl,” I purr through the phone when she picks up. “You ready?”

“Yup.” I smile as I hear the excitement in her voice.

We’ve seen her kill before, but not as the Butterfly Killer. I’m pretty stoked to see my girl at work.

It’s going to take everything in me not to fuck her after she’s done. You know what? Who cares, I’m totally going to fuck her in that park. I’m sure I’ll have enough time before the cops show up.

“She’s headed your way. Long brown hair, looks in rough shape. You can’t miss her.”

“Poor girl. She’s already going to have a shitty ending to her night, and that piece of shit had to make it worse,” she sighs. “Are you sure I can’t kill him instead?"

I look at Jasper, and he shakes his head.

“Sorry, boss-man said no,” I sigh. “I know, killjoy, right? But that would cause a war we don’t want right now.”

“Fiiiine,” she sighs. “You on your way?”

“Just down the street.”

“See you soon!”

She hangs up, and we continue down the street, parking a block away.

Getting out, we quickly walk in the direction we saw the girl go.

“Would this be considered a date?” Wesley asks.

“How the fuck would this be a date?” Jasper grumbles.

“We took Nola out to eat before coming here, we fucked in the back seat of the car, and now we’re doing an activity together. Isn’t that what a date is?”

“I’ve never been on a date, but if I had to pick a perfect one, I'd say this would be it.” I shrug. “What about you, Jasper?”

“Yes, because all dates should end in murder,” he mutters.

“Yes, they should. See, you’re not as much of a stick in the mud as you like to make us think you are.” I chuckle, wrapping my arm around his shoulder.

“Fuck off,” he growls, throwing my arm off his shoulder. “Focus, we have work to do.”

“Ah, I think our girl has that taken care of it already,” Wesley states just as we round the corner and hear a loud thud.

Standing there is Nola. She’s changed since we saw her last, dressed in black shorts, black fishnets, a green crop top, and a mesh hoodie.

At her feet is the girl.

“Don’t worry.” She spins around to face us.

I’ve seen the mask before, in the selfie left behind on the body we found at my place, but seeing it in person is kind of a shock.

This five-foot-nothing girl was the killer we all assumed was a man.

Now that I’m looking at her, that mask is kind of sexy.
