Chapter 37 #2

“She’s not dead yet, just passed out.” She looks down at the body. “I felt bad, you know? I didn’t want her to see me before I killed her. She was already going through some shit, it would have been mean to scare her before ending her life, right?”

She looks back up at us and claps her hands. “Okay!” she says excitedly. “Here’s what I was thinking. If these are my last few kills, I wanna make it worth it, you know? Have a little fun. So, hear me out.” She grabs a bag she has by her feet, pulling some things out of it.

“What is that?” Jasper asks.

“Zipties. To keep her upright.”

“Upright on what?” I ask.

“I’m glad you asked.” I can’t see her face, but the sound of her voice is telling me she’s smiling. “Help me put her on the swing.”

“I’m sorry, the swing?” Jasper asks, and I snort at the shocked look on his face.

“Yes. The swing,” Nola huffs.

“Why the swing?” Wesley asks.

“She’s going to die, why not have a little fun before leaving? And who doesn’t love to swing?” She bends down and grabs the girl’s legs. “Is anyone going to help me or what?”

“I got them,” I chuckle, rushing forward to grab the girl’s arms.

“Thank you,” she giggles. “My hero.”

“Any time, Lola Girl.” I wink.

“You two are fucking crazy, you know that, right? Just kill her and let’s go?” Jasper growls.

“Excuse me,” Nola mutters. “My murder, my choice. Don’t like it, leave.”

“Is she for real right now?” Jasper asks Wesley, sounding pissed, and it makes all this so much more fun.

“I’ll help,” Wesley says, just taking the girl from us and throwing her over his shoulder.

“You know, that's hot,” Nola whispers to me as Wesley walks the girl over to the swing.

I can’t help but laugh.

This girl is fucking crazy, like there really is something wrong with her, but she’s perfect. And so damn cute, I just want to put her in my pocket.

I have no idea how we never saw it before.

“Now what?” Wesley asks when he sits her up in the swing.

Nola rushes over with the bag. “Hold her still,” she instructs as she begins zip-tying the girl to the swing.

“This is fucking ridiculous. The more time we spend out here, the more chances that we’ll be seen by someone who isn’t on our fucking payroll.”

“Then stop bitching and help,” Nola argues. “If you’re going to keep complaining, then go.”

“You are so fucking getting punished for this,” Jasper snarls.

Nola starts to wrap a rope around the girl's waist, tying her ass to the swing.

“You say that as if she wasn’t hoping it would end like that,” I chuckle to Jasper.

“Hey,” Nola protests. “Don’t tell him that, then he’s going to change his mind.”

“Don’t worry, baby, if Jasper won’t punish you, I will.” I grin.

“You’re so romantic,” she sighs, making my whole damn chest warm up.

I’m so fucking gone for this girl.

“There.” Nola steps back, the girl slowly swinging. Her body is leaning back like she’s about to fall off, but she stays in place, her head falling backward.

“That’s it?” Jasper asks.

“No.” Nola laughs. She moves around the girl so that she’s behind her, then pulls out a blade.

I watch with heated eyes as Nola brings the blade to the girl's throat and slices it clean across. Blood starts to spill down her neck, dripping to the rocks below.

“Hold this.” Nola hands Wesley her bloody knife.

Wesley takes it with a raised brow, watching our girl with fascination just like I am.

Nola grabs her bag and pulls out a camera.

“Picture time,” she cheers, grabbing the girl's head and lifting it up enough so that she can take the photo.

“Cheeese,” she says before snapping the photo.

We hear the sound of the camera just as a photo slowly comes out.

“Hold this.” She takes the photo and shakes it for a few seconds before handing me the photo.

I watch as she moves around like a hyper pixie, doing her thing.

Next, she pulls out a box and tape. Taking a piece of the tape, she puts it over the girl's lips before opening the box and taking out a preserved butterfly.

“There we go.” She places the butterfly on the girl's lips.

“Almost done.” She darts over to me. “Is that photo good, or should I take another one?”

Looking down at the photo, my brows rise. It’s fucked up. This girl's eyes are half open, her lips parted with blood spilling from her throat as my masked girlfriend presses her face against the girl’s.

“Ah, yeah,” I chuckle, handing it back. “Looks good to me.”

“Thanks.” She snatches it from me and darts back over to the girl. She tucks the photo into the girl’s bra and steps away.

“Now are we done?” Jasper asks, sounding annoyed.

Nola crosses her arms and huffs. “Do you not know how to have any fun?” she asks.

“No,” Jasper growls.

“Well, learn. Because life is short and I try to enjoy every moment,” she says. “And just because this girl’s life is over, doesn’t mean she can’t still have a little fun.”

“I feel like I’m in a fever dream,” Wesley mutters as he steps up next to me, watching as Nola grabs the swing. She walks backward with it as far as she can before letting go.

The girl starts to swing back and forth, her body drifting from side to side, blood being flung around all over the place.

“Look at her go!” Nola laughs, clapping her hands. “That looks like so much fun. I wanna swing, too,” she says. “Jasper, can you keep pushing her? Wesley, come push me.”

“You're joking, right?” Jasper asks in disbelief as Nola gets into the swing next to the girl.

I’m fucking on cloud nine right now. This is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen, but I’m so here for it. I’m loving every moment.

I watch with pure joy as Wesley starts to push Nola on the swing, a rare grin on his face. He’s not sure what to make of this either, but we’re going along with it.

I don’t think Jasper has really grasped just how nuts our girl is until right this moment.

“Come on, man. You don’t wanna make her sad. Be a good boyfriend and push the dead girl on the swing.”

He glares at me. “You fucking do it.”

“She didn’t ask me, did she?”

“Jasper, push her. She’s going to slow down.”

“I can’t believe this is my fucking life right now,” he snarls, but the big fucker goes over to the girl and starts to push her, cringing every time the girl starts to spin. “This is so fucked up.”

“I think it’s adorable,” I chuckle, watching them all.

After a few minutes, Jasper steps away from the girl.

“We have to go now.”

“Fine.” Nola swings high one last time before jumping off, landing in a crouch. “That was fun. I can’t remember the last time I got to swing. You sure we can’t stay and play?” she asks, looking at the rest of the playground.

“Not unless you want this plan to go to shit,” Jasper grumbles.

“Okay. Fine. But can we go home and have sex?” she asks, grabbing her bag. “I’m horny.”

I let out a disbelieving laugh as Jasper gapes at her in shock.

Wesley bursts out laughing, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. “Yeah, Little Rabbit. We can go home and fuck. How do you feel about being gagged?”

She lets out a needy moan and grabs Wesley’s hand. “Come on. Let’s go.”

“We’re all tripping, right?” Jasper asks me. “None of this is real, and somehow we’ve gotten a hold of that bullshit drug from before."

“Nope.” I clap Jasper on the back. “This is all real as real can be.”

“This is our life now, Sylas. How the fuck did I ever believe this girl was a sweet, normal, innocent girl?”

“I don’t know, brother. I don’t know,” I chuckle. “We couldn’t have been more wrong. But don’t lie, you fucking love it.”

He just glares at me, but doesn’t protest.

I’m kind of bummed that we only planned for two more kills. I had fun tonight.

Wonder what our little psychopath has planned next?
