Chapter 19 #3

“Which one?” Merida brings my attention back to her and I curse myself for letting them steal my mind once again.

Damn they are short. I won’t even be able to bend over without flashing something.

I point to the black bodycon dress, and she holds it up.

“Yes, that will fit you nicely.” She holds the dress against me, it barely reached mid-thigh.

It certainly doesn’t leave much to the imagination.

Just as I go to try it on, there is a knock on the door.

“That will be Alicia,” she says walking out of the room.

I follow after her. Merida opens the door and Alicia stepped in with three other women around our ages.

All are strikingly gorgeous. One has brown hair cut into a pixie cut with big brown doe eyes and thick lashes and pouty lips.

The other two are both blonde and blue eyes.

They looked like sisters, the resemblance between them, uncanny.

The dark-haired woman introduces everyone.

“You must be Imogen. I’m Tammy, this is Maya and Cara. ”

“Hi,” I say nervously. I was never one for hanging out with other girls, to be honest I wasn’t all that girly more, nerdy then girly. I felt awkward, out of place beside them.

“Come on, let’s get lit,” Tammy says tugging on my hand and pulling me back toward the bedroom.

On the way past, she grabs the bottle of wine that is sitting on the bench.

Why do I have a funny feeling these girls are trouble but in a good kind of way?

They do my hair and make-up before I slide into the tight dress.

It’s like a strange version of Cinderella.

Maya comes over and zips me up. By the time everyone is ready, we still have an hour before we have to leave. Merida wore an off shoulder blue bodycon dress, and the other three might as well have been naked with the little dresses they wore that showed off more skin than I thought was possible.

Grabbing another bottle of wine, we sit on the bean bags, which with the amount of alcohol I already consumed, I know I’m going to need help up.

I look up when my phone start ringing in the kitchen dreading having to try and stand in these heels from the position.

Merida looks at the screen. “It’s Theo,” she stage-whispers.

All eyes went to her. Maya held out her hand for the phone.

“Don’t answer it, just ignore it,” I say worriedly. She doesn’t listen, instead answering it and putting it on loudspeaker. Fuck my life, I know this isn’t going to end well. But at least it is sure to be entertaining.

“Imogen’s phone,” Maya says in her best secretarial voice. I struggle to muffle my laugh.

“Who is this? Where is Imogen?”

“Oh, Imogen can’t come to the phone right now. She is currently in the middle of a wild orgy,” Maya said, giving me a wink. I shake my head at her. Those idiots will probably believe it.

“You better put Imogen on the phone right now,” I hear him seething. Fuck.

“Jesus, chill, Theo, it’s Maya. I’ll get her on,” she says, handing the phone to me. I rolled my eyes.

“What Theo?”

“Where are you, and why do I feel like you’re drunk right now?” He accuses.

We haven't even left yet, and he is giving me the speech. I hate how controlling they can get. “I’m not drunk. Tipsy, but not drunk, and I am at Merida’s.

” I hear him growl at the name. Not wanting to hear anymore, I hang up.

I know I will catch it later for hanging up on him.

My phone instantly starts ringing again and I reject the call.

“What did they do that made you so pissed off?” Cara asks, sipping her wine.

“Bianca,” stated Merida for me. They all scrunched up their faces in disgust, making me confused.

“Oh, the bitch of a wife,” said Tammy, I nod. So, they all knew of this woman and by the sounds of it didn’t like her.

“Don’t let her worry you, Imogen, you are way better. Besides, she is dead. They killed her.” Cara replies, taking another long sip of her drink with a relieved smile.

“Cara,” snaps Merida, giving her a stern look.

“What did I say?” Cara asks, blinking owlishly.

Merida shook her head. I went to ask what they meant about them killing her but am cut off by Merida. “Enough depressing talk, let's finish getting ready before Floyd gets here.”

Cara makes a gagging noise. “Why is that buzzkill coming?” she whines, and I smile at her pouting.

“Because he doesn’t trust us to look after Immy over there,” says Alicia. I smirk at the nickname. I barely know these girls, but I can tell we are going to become good friends and contrary to my past, that's exactly what I need right now.

At the mention of his name, another knock sounds on the door. “And that would be the fun police,” states Cara getting up and walking toward the door to open it.

“Ladies,” says Floyd strutting in. The girls don’t look impressed, and I have to stop myself from laughing at the looks on their faces.

Floyd strolls over holding his hand out.

I take his hand and let him pull me up. I stumble slightly in the heels, but he steadies me.

“How much has she already drank?” he says, eyeing the girls.

They look away guiltily before Merida points toward the counter.

Six empty bottles proudly display our drinking prowess. He shakes his head. “Ready to go?”

“Yep, let’s do this!” The girls holler. I walk over to Merida and she hooks her arm through mine, leading me out of the apartment.
