Chapter Ten
Jayla pushed against Beau’s chest. “Can I get up now?”
Beau tightened his grip on her. “Why?”
“Because I’d like to get to town before it gets dark.”
“You’re not leaving, Jayla. First of all, we’re here to keep you safe. We still don’t know where the threats coming from, and until we do, you’re stuck with us. Secondly, we know we fucked up, but we would like to start over if possible?” Diego waited.
Jayla’s body stiffened. “Start over? We never began.”
Beau cupped her cheek to bring her gaze to his. “Then let’s begin now. Diego and I would like very much to get to know you.”
“Get to know me, how?” Her eyes narrowed suspiciously.
“We’ve both been attracted to you from the start, and we’ve seen the way you look at us. I would regret not giving us a chance. How about you?”
“Let me get this straight. You both want me? You want to have a three-person sexual relationship with me? Together?”
Diego gripped her leg to slip off her tennis shoes and squeezed her foot. “Yes.”
Jayla jerked against Beau and shrieked in laughter when Diego started pressing his thumbs into her instep. She tried to push him away, but he just grinned at her and kept massaging.
“Diego...” She giggled. “Stop. I don’t like to be tickled.”
Diego grinned. “That’s good to know.”
She relaxed when he let go of her foot. Both men watched her silently. “I have to admit I don’t trust this. I’m the only woman around, and you’re healthy men. You need to think about that. If another woman was here, would she have your interest?”
Beau sighed. “I can understand why you’re distrustful of us. We ran hot and then cold and now hot again, but do you really think we’re that shallow? Would the director entrust you to us if he didn’t trust us to keep you safe?”
Jayla shrugged. “I don’t know. I don’t know the man.”
Diego frowned. “What do you mean? He’s your godfather.”
Jayla shredded the tissue in her hands. “I’ve already told you how he sent me away.
I was grieving, and he took me from the only security I had left.
I spent more holidays by myself than I did with him.
He came to see me in the hospital after the kidnapping, but I was still out of it, we didn’t really talk.
Besides, there’s nothing to say. Now that I’m done with college, I’ll move on with my life, and we’ll probably never see each other again. ”
Diego swiped a tear from her cheek, she hadn’t known it was there. “I’m sorry. He didn’t give us any personal information. I’ve got to tell you, the way he acted showed he cared a lot.”
Jayla shrugged. “It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Fortunately, the men decided to leave it alone for now.
Beau’s hand slid up and down her arm. “So, are you going to give us another chance?”
“You both really want a relationship with me?” She continued when they both nodded. “How exactly does one work with two men and one woman?”
Several pictures flashed through her mind of the three of them together. Could she really do it? Give them a chance? She just couldn’t seem to wrap her head around the thought of dating two men at the same time and together. She’d never heard about that happening before.
“Just like any other relationship. You just get to deal with two of us instead of one.”
“Lucky me.”
They chuckled at her sarcasm.
She looked directly at Diego. “We’re going to have sex, right?”
Diego grinned. “I certainly hope so.”
Jayla snorted. “How does that work?”
“Sometimes we’re with you together and sometimes on our own. It depends,” Beau murmured.
Could she walk away from the chance to have both these powerful, masculine men in her life? No, she couldn’t let this chance go. She knew she’d regret it.
“I still don’t trust you both one hundred percent yet, but I’m willing to try if we go slow.”
Beau tipped her farther back. “Absolutely.” His eyes ran over her face before his head dipped, and he pressed his lips to hers. He took it slow, but it soon turned both hot and needy. His tongue swept into her mouth to taste her.
Was it normal to feel this overwhelming need for two men? Earlier, she wanted to be somewhere far from them, and now she couldn’t get close enough.
Diego turned her toward him and took her mouth. Where Beau was gentle and handled her with care, Diego was rough and took what he wanted. She soon found she craved to be kissed both ways.
She pulled away a bit when he lifted his head. Her hand went to her lips, and then her tongue ran over them, tasting both of them. Jayla became self-conscious when the men just watched her.
Beau could tell she was getting uncomfortable. “How about we make something to eat? Jayla hasn’t had anything yet today.”
Jayla nodded. Diego stood and pulled her up next to him.
Diego bit back a smile. “There was a nice roast in the freezer, but somebody threw it in the weeds.”
Jayla gasped and jabbed her elbow into Diego’s side. “I cannot believe you brought that up. I was so pissed at you. You’re lucky I didn’t throw it at you, Diego. God, you were so mean.”
Diego gripped her shoulders. “I’m sorry, Jayla. I took my frustration out on you. I wanted you so much, and I thought I couldn’t have you. The thought of hurting you drives me insane. I’m still terrified we’ll hurt you when we make love.”
Jayla’s hands went to his face, the thick afternoon whiskers abrading her palms. “Listen to me. It’s not going to be comfortable the first time. That’s natural. I trust you both to take care of me. Stop worrying. We’ll take things slow.”
“Come on, you guys. I’m hungry. I got some nice steaks in town,” Beau called from the kitchen.
Jayla bumped her hip against Beau’s thigh when she passed him on her way to the refrigerator. “Sounds good to me. It’s been a while since I had a good steak.”
