Chapter 24 #2
At least we were on an even playing field, with just our lower halves covered.
I snaked my arms around his neck and jumped on him to wrap my legs around his waist, giving him no choice but to hoist me up against him.
I lost myself in another whirlwind of chaotic desperation and the heat of his body against mine.
He may play the confident joker, but he matched every inch of passion in my kisses.
That odd feeling I refused to name squeezed my heart in the best way possible.
“I shouldn’t want you,” I moaned. “I’m a Siren. You’re a Human. A former pirate, for Spirits’ sake.”
“I know. But to hell with what we are.” Reiven sank to his knees to lay me down in the grass, smoldering eyes drinking in every part of my exposed body, just like he had on the Maiden weeks ago.
“I’ll dive headfirst over the edge into that void you said would cause me pain.
I’ve wanted you for too long to hesitate anymore. ”
Together. We’ll jump into the void together.
He teased my earlobe with his teeth. The tickling, pleasant sensation of the gentle bites he worked down my neck sent me whimpering. Heat pulsed inside me. It began in the ache between my legs and spidered out into my lower stomach.
“Tell me what you want, Zephra.” His deep, provocative voice intensified every sensation, especially his lips dragging down my neck and chest. Rei looked me in the eye and repeated himself. “Tell me what you want.”
“I want you to make me feel everything I haven’t felt before,” I breathed, the words spilling from my mouth unbidden. “Everything.”
He smirked against my skin. “That sounds doable.” He teased my pebbled nipples with his mouth, flicking his tongue against them with a grin at my squirming beneath him. So damn confident it was unfair.
I managed a weak chuckle and dug my fingers into his soft, perfect hair. “Don’t think you can just impress me easily. I’m difficult to please, you know.”
Rei looked up at me. “Not to worry, I intend to shower you with so much attention you’ll forget how difficult you pretend to be.”
The sultry tropical air thickened until I couldn't breathe. He pressed his lips in a warm trail down my stomach. Worshiping, tasting my skin until he kissed the band of my underwear. I wanted them off right away, but Reiven chuckled and pulled at the lace fabric with his teeth to tease me.
“R-Reiven…Come on…” I had never felt so needy before.
He slid the lace fabric down my thighs, kissing down my legs in its wake.
My breaths quickened as he met my eyes again, pressing his lips just below my navel, then further down until he buried his face between my thighs.
“Have you ever done this before?” he asked casually, flicking his tongue against me.
Heat and electricity shot through my core.
I gasped and barely shook my head at him.
I’d slept with many men before, none of my own desire.
But I wanted Reiven. I needed him. Cascades of emotion flooded my veins; every languid stroke of his tongue carried me into a kind of bliss I had never dared to feel before.
I laid back and shut my eyes, weaving my fingers deeper into his silky hair to keep from floating away in the waves of pleasure railing against me.
His lips closed around my clit, and a swipe of his tongue and gentle suction coaxed a needy whine from my throat.
My hips tilted involuntarily, begging for more.
His mouth twitched into a grin and he hummed. At the slight vibration, my back arched away from the cool grass and my eyes flew open. Rei held my gaze captive, drawing hot circles with the tip of his tongue. He winked.
That one stupid wink unraveled me in the most divine way. I laughed, loosening my grip on his hair to brush a stray black strand off his forehead. “Show-off.”
Reiven resurfaced and kissed me on the lips, hungry and wild, tasting of salt and the sea.
“I thought you were supposed to be difficult to please,” he said.
Specks of light, of mischief, glowed within the burning obsidian of his eyes.
He slid his hand between us to rub his thumb against my slick heat, smirking at how my breath hitched in response.
“But look at you, so wet for me. Tell me how I’m doing, Blue.
” Partly a tease, partly a genuine check-in.
I flipped us over so that his back hit the grass and I straddled him. “You don't have me anywhere close.” I wasn't about to give him the satisfaction of knowing that he had given me more than anyone else, not until he had all his clothes off.
“Keep pretending, sweetheart. What else can I do for you?”
There was one crucial missing ingredient in every intimate encounter I'd had before, something I was dying to see him portray.
Even if he didn't really feel what my thundering heart wanted him to.
I tried to play it off as another flirtatious order, like when he lost our bet, but my voice trembled.
“Pretend you love me. Make me believe it, even if it isn't real.”
Rei sat up, gripping my waist. He wore an unreadable smile that made my heart pound harder and faster. “Easy enough.” He tucked a piece of my bangs behind my ear and stared into my eyes with genuine intensity. “I love you, Zephra.”
The world slowed to a halt, like a music box finishing its last notes. He gave voice to the emotions swirling around inside me I refused to put a name to, and he did it so easily, with a calm smile that felt miles removed from his usual smirk.
“Even if you’re my destruction…even if it could be catastrophic for both of us, I can’t help it.
I love you.” Reiven kissed me with all the gentleness of a man head over heels in love, a bite of passion lingering just beneath the surface.
He caressed my cheek and tilted my head, leisurely exploring my tongue with his.
After a few electrifying moments, he leaned his forehead against mine so we continued to share the same breath.
I love you, too.
The urge to reciprocate was overwhelming. But he only said it because I asked him to, so that would be awkward, wouldn’t it? Just pretending, just a meaningless phrase I asked him to say.
Why did it feel real, like it had meaning?
“Reiven, I…” His eyes widened, but I swallowed those words, and instead said something almost as difficult. “I trust you.”
Reiven murmured, “Thank you,” and claimed my lips again.
I could kiss him forever, even as he grew hungrier for more of me.
His large, warm hands skimmed up my thighs until he planted them firmly on my hips, urging me to grind against him.
Every touch brought us closer together, until we just barely broke apart, panting.
“Zephra, do you want to hear what I want?”
Oh, he must think I’m a horrible partner. I haven’t paid any attention to him.
I gave him a guilty nod, but he just smirked.
“I want to see you take control. I want to watch what you do when your pleasure is your own to create. Don’t make it about me—” His grin turned devilish as he laid back in the grass. “Seeing you enjoy yourself will be more than enough to get me off.”
“Are you just being lazy, Reiven?”
“You wound me. I’ll do anything you want, but I think you should try it. Being on top, I mean.”
I felt a bit awkward, but it warmed my heart that he wanted me to take charge of this moment.
I climbed off him and watched with moon-round eyes as he rid himself of his underwear.
Liquid heat ignited inside me, throbbing at the sight of his arousal.
Well, I shouldn’t have been surprised, I already knew he was impressive.
He chuckled. “I promise you can’t make me any harder than I already am, even if you keep staring.”
Shit, my mouth had fallen open. I clapped it shut and tried to recover with a devilish grin, as if this were perfectly normal for us. For me. I straddled him again, teasing the head of his cock right at my entrance. “Fine. If I’m the one in control, I’m going to take you so deep inside me—”
His gaze went pure molten.
“—but I’m going to move so agonizingly slow, you’ll regret making me do all the work.”
“How very you, Zephra,” he chuckled. “Putting the man that loves you through such torturous pleasure.”
“Do you feel how wet you made me?” I grazed the head of his cock against me, palming my breasts with a coy grin.
“Mmhmm.” Somehow he kept his cool, though his eyes screamed that I’d better quit playing with him.
To me, he seemed the type who wanted to command the pace, but no amount of teasing would make him wrest control away.
He watched me hungrily, and just waited.
Perhaps he was playing that ‘man in love’ game of pretend too well.
The heat of desire filling my veins ruined my plan to make him beg me for more. I sank onto his shaft until he was buried inside me, reveling in his soft groan. My hair fell like a curtain over my shoulder, pooling beside his head as I leaned over him to clutch at the grass beneath us.
“Oh, god…” I never called out to the god of the Humans, but now was as good a time as any. Reiven filled me completely. I had to pause while I acclimated to his size.
Reiven ran his hands up my trembling thighs, slow and gentle. One dark brow arched. “You’re already shaking for me, Blue?” It sounded like another tease, but the concern there was unmistakable. It lingered quietly in his eyes—the need to hear me say I was alright, that I wanted to keep going.
Yet another thing Reiven Miyasagi did that made my heart sing.
I gave him a smile. “You’re just that good, I guess.”
