Chapter 50 #2
Trooper took a step toward her, but I grabbed his arm and shot him a look that said calm the fuck down. It would be nothing for him to blow her brains out if it meant protecting Sophie and we needed her alive. At least right now.
“What the fuck does Sophie have to do with this? She doesn’t know a gotdamn thing about what he does.”
“Well, my people think otherwise. We’ve been following her for a while. We even know that you took her to see Sinclair. Why is that? Maybe she knows more than you want us to believe.”
“Fuck you mean you been following her? And Sophie don’t know shit about her father.”
“Which one?” She smirked and that was it.
Trooper lost it, and before I could stop him, he had her up in the air by her shirt, and the barrel of his gun under her chin.
“Yo, keep fucking playing, and I swear on everything I will kill your stupid ass. Sophie don’t have shit to do with anything Prescott has going on and neither do I. If you like breathing, I suggest you convince whoever the fuck is heading up this bullshit of that too.”
Willis threw her hands up as a panicked look filled her face.
“It’s too late. They don’t know if or how she plays into it, but they know she’s Sinclair’s daughter.
They want to use that to help their case.
I don’t know how yet, hell I don’t even know if they know how.
All I know is that whatever information they have got Sinclair out of prison.
They think him being out can help too. All of these things are pieces to the master plan.
I don't know what that is or how it’s going to play out, other than they want to take Harold Prescott down.
You can’t stop it, so you might as well help and try to save yourself. ”
“Bitch, you sound crazy as fuck. Hell, I was about to try and save your ass, but now you got me wanting him to squeeze the gotdamn trigger. Fuck we look like snitching? That’s a gotdamn bitch move. Shoot her ass, Troop.”
He smirked and tightened his grip on his gun, but he wasn’t about to shoot her. Not like this with no planning, but she didn’t know that, so her damn eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
“Hold on, wait. I have something you might want to know.”
“Nah, fuck that. You can’t tell me shit right now. I hope you got your affairs in order.” Trooper’s expression was stone cold as he pushed his gun harder under her chin, causing her head to tilt back.
“So you don’t want the names of the two men who assaulted Sophie? I have that. I know who they are and where they live. Just don’t kill me and I’ll give it to you,” she begged.
Trooper eased up a little, but he didn’t back down.
“How the fuck you know about that?”
“I told you we’ve been following her. It was when we had you. Our people were watching her to see what she would do.”
“You mean to tell me you watched her get assaulted and didn’t do shit about it?” That rage was in his eyes again and he pulled her closer.
“No, well, not me, and they couldn’t intervene. It would blow their cover and ruin everything, but I didn’t know until after it happened. I promise I didn’t. I know who they are and I’ll tell you. I don’t even care what you do to them.”
Trooper let Willis go and her body landed on the sofa. She scrambled to get herself together before he aimed the gun at her head again while she sat there staring at him.
“The fuck you waiting on. Get the shit now!”
She scrambled to her feet and went straight for her bag. After pulling her laptop out, she fumbled through something then turned it toward us.
“Nah, baby girl. It’s not that easy. You send it to me. Just like you building a case, I’m building one too, and the deeper you're involved, the more you belong to me.” Trooper kept his focus on her while she looked at him, knowing she was about to be fucked.
“How?” she questioned before looking down at her laptop again.
“That’s a MacBook, ain't it? AirDrop it. I don’t really give a fuck, just send it.”
Trooper reached into his pocket with his free hand and pulled out one of his burners.
Willis went back to pecking away, and when she was done, she looked at him and waited.
“Aight, bet. Here’s the deal. You just made yourself an accessory to murder. I’m killing both those muthafuckers. There’s no doubt about that, so I suggest you think before you act from here on out.” Trooper lowered his gun and tucked it into his jeans behind his back.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She looked at both of us with a confused expression and it irritated the fuck out of me.
“This bitch is dumb as fuck,” I said, looking at Trooper first then her. “Yo, you dumb as fuck. I knew cops weren’t that damn bright, but you really taking it there. It means you do some dumb shit and your ass is going to prison if we don’t kill you first.”
Trooper chuckled because he knew I was pissed and annoyed.
“Yo, wait for me outside and let me holla at her for a minute, Los,” Trooper said, looking down at her.
My eyes went to him, trying to figure out where he was going, but he was grown so I wasn’t about to question a grown ass man about his actions.
“Hurry the fuck up. The longer we’re here, the more I want to shoot her dumb ass.” I placed my gun on my body and headed to the front door.
After I was in Trooper’s car, I kept my eyes on her house, just to make sure we didn’t get any surprises. Ten minutes later, Trooper walked to his car and got in without saying a word.
I just watched him, trying to read this muthafucker.
“Why the fuck you keep looking at me?” he finally said after we were off her street.
“Did you fuck her?” I asked in all seriousness.
“Hell no. The fuck kinda of shit is that?” Trooper shot back at me.
“Then what took your ass so long? I mean, she dumb as fuck, but that don’t take away from her being sexy as hell. I’d fuck her and clearly she was on your dick.”
“Los, chill, bruh. I ain't take it there with her. I just needed her to know how serious it was that she kept her damn mouth closed. If she tries anything stupid, her ass is gonna die or go to prison.”
Trooper looked my way, but only briefly. I didn’t believe his ass, but I left it alone. He loved Sophie, but knowing that meant he would do anything to make sure she was good. Even fucking a fed to make sure she kept her mouth closed.
I couldn’t say shit and I wasn’t about to judge. Trooper was my boy and I’d take his secrets to the grave. I also knew I would do the same for somebody I loved. Hell, I would do it for Maddie right now and I wasn’t even there with her yet.
“How the fuck did this shit just get so damn complicated?” I asked, changing the subject.
“The fuck if I know, but I’m really starting to wonder if all this shit has something to do with Story getting out. If they know that Sophie is his and not Prescott’s, it makes sense.”
“So you thinking Alana is the source?”
“Has to be. I wonder if Story knows that. It puts him in a compromising position. I don’t know how it all ties together, but the way I look at it, to get what they want from her, they’ll use Sophie.”
“Fuck yeah, you’re right. You think her mother knew that?”
“Nah, she did some foul shit, but she loves Sophie. She wouldn’t put her in the middle of all that.”
“She would if she thought Story could protect her though,” I added, trying to process it all.
“I don’t think so. She wants her old life.
Using Sophie as a pawn would be about the only thing that would make Story walk and never look back.
She knows him better than anybody, so I'm sure she knows that. What I think is she didn’t think things through.
It never registered to her that Sophie even played a role.
She ain’t about this life. The feds are nasty, they don’t give a fuck about family.
It’s by any means necessary, and if they want Prescott that badly, they’ll do whatever.
You have to spend money to make money, and in their eyes, Story was money well spent.
They let him out, but only to make sure they had all the pieces to the puzzle.
We’re all connected, so they’re trying to force all of us into the same position.
I guarantee he’s next. If they haven’t already, they’ll reach out to him with a proposition. ”
“Yeah, makes sense. So what now?”
“Now, I find these two muthafuckers and handle that. Then we talk to Story. You can’t take down a man like Harold Prescott. Not legally anyway. The only way you can end this is to end him.”
I nodded to agree. “So we killing Prescott?”
Trooper didn’t speak, but the look he gave me said it all. Shit was officially set in motion.
