Chapter 47

The vision of Bree on her knees for me will be engrained in my brain forever.

She may not have told me she loves me, but I see it in the way her body speaks to mine.

The way she leans into me and searches out the comfort she finds in me.

I’ll wait however long it takes for her to say the words, knowing without a doubt that she loves me too.

“It’s your turn to use me,” she says before she licks up my shaft, teasing me with her delicious tongue.

“I’d like it much better if you used me right now, Princess. Take what you want.”

“If you insist.” She swallows my cock into her mouth, and I almost shoot my load down her throat.

“Fuck, Bree.”

“Shhhh, or he’ll hear you.” She smirks, using my words against me.

“Goddammit,” I grit my teeth, watching as she chokes on my cock. When she rolls my balls, scraping her nails across my taint, I wrap my hand in her hair and hold her down on my cock while I come down her throat.

“Mmm,” she hums, swallowing every drop. Picking her up, I slam my mouth onto hers, plundering my tongue into her mouth as she grinds against me, her slickness dripping down my abs.

“One more orgasm, Princess, then we have to get cleaned up.”

I carry her to the shower and turn the water on before pinning her to the wall. She rides my hand until she’s screaming into my mouth while she comes hard.

Miller calls up the stairs after our shower.

“Hey freaks, you ready to come down now?”

“I’ll go down. You take your time.” I drop a kiss to the top of Bree’s head and leave her to finish getting dressed. Grabbing a T-shirt on my way, I throw it over my head as I reach the bottom of the stairs.

“She good?” Miller looks up from his phone when he hears me.

“For now, I think so.”

“She’s about to be even better.” Rubbing his hands together, he pulls snacks out of the cabinet and arranges them on the island.

“What are you doing?”

“Getting things ready for us to have a movie marathon.”

“You’re a good friend, Ryan.”

He spins back to me like a deer in headlights. “Whoa, no need to pull out the first names.”

“I mean it, man. Thanks for calling me to come over here. You didn’t have to do that.” I squeeze his shoulder when he looks at me, offering a sincere nod before he responds.

“Yeah, I did. She needed you.”

“She would’ve been fine with just you too.”

“Nah, she may fight it, but she’s in love with you. You’re who she needed today.”

“I needed both of you,” Bree says from the bottom of the stairs. She crosses the room and runs into Miller’s waiting arms. They embrace like they’ve been waiting for this hug for years. His shoulders shutter as he whispers into her ear. When he looks up at me, I see the unshed tears in his eyes.

They continue to speak in hushed whispers, so I give them a minute alone and head outside to bring in my bags that I left in the car. When I get back inside, they break apart and Bree wipes away Miller’s tears and he does the same for her.

“Right, well, enough of that.” Miller claps his hands together. “Are you ready for a wild afternoon?”

“Hit me,” Bree says, walking to me, tucking herself under my arm and kissing my jaw.

“Movie marathon, ice cream sundaes, your favorite delivery, and the three of us on the couch all afternoon. How does that sound?” He counts off each one excitedly.

“What’s my favorite delivery?” she challenges.

“I don’t think you’ve decided yet, so you choose and we can order it for dinner.”

“What about the movie snacks?”

“Already taken care of. Raided the stash.” He waves his hand over the kitchen island littered with all kinds of candy and popcorn.

“You’re the best, Mills.” She smiles widely at her best friend. After spending more time with them together, I feel silly for thinking there could ever be anything romantic between them. Their relationship is like his with Fields—familial and full of love and jokes.

“I know.”

“So, what are we watching?” I ask as they carry all the snacks to the living room.

“Fast and Furious, duh,” Bree answers like it’s the most obvious choice for a marathon.

“Wait wait wait, you watch the Fast and Furious movies?” She’s full of surprises.

“Bro, she’s obsessed. It’s the craziest thing.”

“I’m not obsessed. I just find comfort in the—well, shut up. I just like them okay.” She huffs.

“Not judging, Princess. Just unexpected.” I kiss her cheek. “And kinda hot.”

“I heard that,” Miller says, picking up the remote from the coffee table.

“You weren’t supposed to.”

“I’m literally right here and you’re not quiet.”

“Just turn on the movie.” Bree pushes me down onto the chaise lounge side of the couch and crawls into my lap.

“Wait, Rook, were you even alive when this movie came out?” Miller pulls up the first Fast and Furious movie.

“When was it released?”

“2001.”

“Yeah, I was born.” Barely.

“How old are you now?”

“I’m not telling you.” He’ll only use it against me later. I know how he operates.

“I’ll look it up,” Miller threatens.

“He’s twenty-four.” Bree laughs and snuggles into me, pulling a blanket off the back of the couch.

“You were like mayyyybe two when this came out. Shit, Gabbadoo you’re a hardcore cougar.” Miller roars at her. She throws a pillow at him.

“He acts older than you most days.”

“Burn.” I chuckle at her dig.

The movie starts playing and as the street racing begins on the screen, everything feels okay for the moment.

Bree doesn’t leave her spot in my lap. I’m thankful we’re home for the next few days.

We need this time together. She needs to know she’s supported and that I’m not going anywhere.

That no matter what happens next, it’s her and me together.

And apparently Miller, because he makes it clear he’s not leaving either when he takes the guest room down the hall from Bree’s room.

The next few days, Bree’s quieter than normal.

She comes to the games and puts on a brave face for the public, but she’s not herself.

My final status meeting is tomorrow before we leave for our last road trip of the season.

Time has flown by. I can’t believe my rookie season is coming to an end.

Hopefully after I’ve cleared the final check-in and my record is officially clean, Bree will feel better about us going public with our relationship.

I love her and I want to be able to celebrate this season with her when it’s over. Once we get through the biopsy and know what we’re dealing with, she’ll see we have our entire lives ahead of us.
