Chapter Sixty-One

Scarlett

My perfume has spiked three times since we got back to the jet. It’s kinda embarrassing.

I have zero control over what my body is doing right now, and I know Trick noticed at least one of the times that Kian affected me. We locked eyes as my cheeks started to flush with heat.

He wasn’t mad, at least, but it was hard to tell what he was feeling.

I’m a little bit too caught up in my own emotions right now.

The damn perfume is interfering with my ability to read everyone else.

It’s hard to think about anything other than my physical urges.

As soon as Xane leads Kian out of the jet, I relax, just a little.

“You doing okay?” Trick asks, his voice quiet.

I nod slowly, before I turn to him.

We’ve both stopped packing the bags.

He looks worried, and that freaks me out.

“I think there’s something we need to talk about,” I admit, not sure how to do this, but knowing it needs to be done.

“Yeah, I wasn’t thinking too clearly before, but there is something we should talk about.” He gives me one of his wry smiles as he takes my hands in his.

“Okay. You can go first,” I tell him, hoping we’re on the same page.

If not, I’ll still have to say what I need to say.

He takes in a breath, and locks eyes with me before he starts, “Okay. So, Kian’s the one who asked your boss …

I mean, your sister’s boss … He’s the one who made her tell Sapphire she had to do this interview.

He’s the reason you’re here. He’s the one who found your blog and then he found her picture on the magazine’s website and since he knew our sponsor took over that magazine, he came up with the idea for this interview.

And he did all that because he knew the second he looked at your picture on that blog that you were meant to be our one true mate. ”

He pauses, and I raise an eyebrow at him.

“Our one true mate?”

“All four of us,” he explains, blushing. “It sounds crazy, I know, but Kian was right. He’s the reason we got to meet you, and I knew the moment you got onto our jet. You’re supposed to be here with us.”

I can’t help but smile. “Are you serious?”

“I know you like Kian,” he adds. “Most packs have one true mate. I mean, unless the guys are bi.”

This is like a dream come true.

I can’t lie, I’m still kinda scared about the whole “m” word thing, but the fact that it’s the Chaos Burning guys? I just hit the true mate jackpot. Four hot musicians, all to myself.

“Are you good?” Trick asks, raising an eyebrow.

“I’m better than good,” I admit. “This is crazy, for sure, but I’m attracted to all of you.”

He lets out a breath. “I’m glad. Kian would have been wrecked if you only liked me. He was kind of worried after he upset you earlier.”

“I think he understands what happened now, but I intended to speak to him.”

“He’ll like that.”

“Great.”

He smiles. “So, what was it that you wanted to talk about?”

I laugh. “It was basically the same thing. I’m into you, but I’m also into them. It’s a weird problem to have.”

“I’m not gonna lie. I like that you kissed me first, and that you perfumed for me, but I’m good with sharing. I didn’t know that until I met you and saw you being all flirty with Ki. It didn’t bother me. It feels right.”

“You’re way too perfect to be real,” I tell him, reaching out to touch the side of his face.

He smiles, leaning into the touch.

My perfume spikes, and his gaze intensifies.

Closing his eyes, he breathes in deeply, and exhales with a groan.

I bring my other hand to the top button of his jeans.

And then I hear Xane clearing his breath as he steps back into the cabin.

We jump apart, and he shakes his head lightly as he looks at us.

“Trick, go help Kian with the fire. Make sure he doesn’t use up all the matches.”

Trick looks at me helplessly.

I shrug back at him.

Xane’s his lead Alpha.

He’s not mine.

Yet.

“Scarlett and I will finish packing the bags. We’ll be on the beach with you in five. Check on Riley while you’re out there. Make sure he’s all good.”

Trick nods and then he leaves the jet without looking back.

I press my lips together as I look back at Xane.

Trick just gave me the best news he could have given.

Why do I get the feeling Xane is ready to burst that bubble?

He sighs as he looks at me. “How much has Trick told you?”

“About what?” I ask, playing dumb because it usually works.

The way he looks at me, he knows it’s an act. “About what they think you are to us.”

“What they think … You don’t believe I’m fated to your pack.”

Wow. He doesn’t even need to say anything.

I can see it on his face.

He doesn’t believe I’m their true mate.

It stings, but I was right.

He came back to burst my bubble.

“Trick doesn’t have much experience with women, and Kian’s a daydreamer. Neither of them have ever been around Omegas, so they have no idea how dangerous that can be.”

“Dangerous?” I ask, not understanding. “I know how to fight if I have to, but I wouldn’t exactly call myself a lethal weapon.”

He doesn’t look amused.

“You don’t like me.”

I can feel it without having to search his emotions.

It’s written all over his face.

He can barely stand to be in the same room as me.

“It’s not you. It’s what you are. You’re not the first Omega I’ve ever met.”
