97. Chapter Ninety-Six
Chapter Ninety-Six
Trick
The bathroom is way too small to be a shower room, and the attachment is a real pain in the ass to use. I’m also clearly too tall and my limbs are too long. I’ll probably be covered in bruises when I get done washing up, but at least I’ll be clean.
It’s not like we’ll get a chance to do this again after today, so I make sure to take my time.
A crappy shower with scentless liquid soap is better than no shower at all.
And that’s what the next few days are gonna mean; no showers, no bathroom.
Also, a dwindling food supply and a lot of physical exertion.
Scarlett’s about to see the worst side of me.
I’m not looking forward to that.
Not one little bit.
I finish up and groan lightly as I stretch in the enclosed space.
Leaving the bathroom damp feels wrong, but the towel would have gotten soaked inside.
I lean into the main cabin, and Kian gets up to hand me the towel.
“Thanks,” I say as I take it.
“Already put your clothes in the bedroom.”
“Great.”
He’s smiling like he knows something I don’t.
Probably just means he’s already picturing how dumb I’m gonna look in my makeshift shorts and one of Riley’s stolen T-shirts.
I’ve never been much of a summer person.
The only shorts I own are my swim shorts and I’m keeping those for the resort.
I head into the bedroom and dry off with the towel.
Sighing, I pick up the fresh pair of boxers and put them on.
The cut-up pants look dumb before I even get into them.
At least Riley’s shirt looks like one of his more fitted ones.
It’s a light shade of grey and it isn’t as oversized as the one I stole yesterday that Scarlett ended up using as a dress.
I put on my sneakers and head out of the room.
I hope I don’t look as awkward as I feel.
Scarlett turns to look and her eyes light right up when she sees me.
Okay, maybe this look isn’t so bad after all.
“Nice,” she murmurs.
I manage a smile. “Hey.”
“Hey. I was gonna go take some pictures of the baby sharks before we head out into the jungle. Feel like coming with me to the beach?”
“Uh, sure,” I murmur, as I take her hand. “But shouldn’t we wait for Ki?”
“He said we should go while he showers.”
Right. Yeah.
She probably spoke to him about it while I was getting ready.
“Okay, cool.”
“Great!” she leads me out of the jet, and we walk to the beach.
Xane is taking down the tents when we pass, and he doesn’t look up.
I’m kinda glad, to be honest.
Kian might feel justified about blasting him, but I don’t.
He’s still our pack leader, even if we don’t see things the same way.
I don’t know why he has a problem with Scarlett, I only know he hasn’t been himself for a while.
Something’s gonna need to happen to make him see what Kian and I already figured out.
I wish I knew what that something was.
