Day 150
Eve
Despite Adam’s newly discovered soft side, he’s still very much an asshole when we argue. Like now, for example.
“This is the third ranch you’ve ruled out today,” he emphasizes. “We should at least go look inside the houses.”
“There’s no point in looking inside, because I could tell from outside they weren’t good enough,” I grit out, my arms crossed.
“What is this about?”
“Excuse me?” I huff out, my jaw slack.
“Are you still not over the squatting in houses thing? Because that is what we’ll be doing, you know. Taking a house that used to belong to someone else.” He lifts a brow at my gaping mouth. “Or is there something more?”
“I’m sorry that I want what’s best for us,” I grit out. “If you have a problem with that, just come out and say it. Being all coy doesn’t suit you.”
He gives me a moment more of his hard gaze. “You’re having second thoughts, aren’t you?”
“I’m—what?” My voice pitches up with surprise.
“You don’t want to do this anymore, and this is why you’re refusing to even look at them properly. You don’t want—”
“Adam”—I lift up a hand in a stop motion—“respectfully, shut the fuck up.”
He opens his mouth to shoot back some snarky reply, I can see it. But I don’t let him.
“If I have any reservations, it’s because yes, I’ll admit it, I’m fucking terrified of going through with this, since we have no clue what the hell we’re doing.” I power through the words. “But the part that scares me is learning to reap wheat and herd cattle, not playing house with you.”
“I’m not sure I believe that.” He makes an effort to sound indifferent, but I can spot his anger in the clench of his jaw.
“The first house was too close to town, which you know is a risk in case something there short-circuits and burns the entire place to the ground. The second didn’t have a barn. This one”—I point at exhibit C—“doesn’t have enough land. I don’t have to go inside it to see that.”
He crosses his arms, and even across the few feet separating us, I can tell he’s grinding his teeth.
“We can’t just pick. We need a place that will give us the best starting point. You know that.” I narrow my eyes at him. “So do you have anything helpful to add, or can we get back on the road?”
“Get in the damn car,” he snarls and turns away from me, marching to our truck with angry stomps.
I won and he knows it. That’s why he’s pissed.
Unfortunately for both of us, fighting only makes the air between us more charged, and there’s electricity filling every inch of space separating us by the time both our doors slam and seal us back inside.
“So fucking stubborn,” he mutters under his breath as he drives away.
“If that’s not the pot calling the kettle black,” I hiss back.
We drive silently before he pulls over near another farmhouse. It only takes me a few steps from the car to realize that he’s heading straight inside, without waiting for my opinion.
I groan as I follow him. Stubborn, my ass.
“You got me in a house,” I mock-praise him as I cross the threshold. “Congratulations.”
The house in question seems like a decent candidate, but I didn’t see a barn—although it could just be hidden behind the main building—and all in all, it looks a little rough for wear.
Some of the paint is peeling, and there’s a busted window in the living room which sways back and forth.
Adam has already taken in those things, having walked in before me, and now he’s seemingly awaiting my bitchy rejection so he can bitch right back.
“This one’s not even an option, and you know it.” I cross my arms. “God, Adam, did you seriously just want to drag me inside a house?”
“We can walk away from it now, knowing it’s not an option. Was it that hard?” Oh, he’s pissed.
Fine. I can work with pissed.
“I could have told you that from outside,” I hiss.
He crowds me against the wall with two wide strides. “This could have been fun, you know,” he has the audacity to say. “If you weren’t so—”
I cut through his words. “Careful? Meticulous? Serious about finding us a decent place to spend the rest of our lives?”
“You’re driving me fucking insane,” his groan borders in a growl, and I glare as hard as I can in return. “Now you give me murder eyes?” His hand slams on the wall near my head. “You’re mad? Take it out on me, come on. I fucking dare you.”
“Oh, you’d like that, wouldn’t you,” I mock, scowling at him. When I lift my chin with defiance, I realize he’s so close, that the movement nearly caused our lips to brush.
He seems to understand it just when I do, and our breaths mix between us, mere inches apart—but the heat from him makes me feel like he’s all over me, touching, consuming.
“Keep looking at me like that, see where it gets you.” There’s a warning in his voice, but it’s diluted with something else. Something hungry.
“I’m not afraid of you.” My voice is so much softer than I intended. Unguarded. If I’m not careful, he’ll barge into me and knock down all the defenses I had left.
But for the first time, I don’t think I’d mind it. I don’t think I want to defend myself from him anymore. Even if he tears down the both of us. I want to fall alongside him.
“You really shouldn’t have said that.”
It’s like a clap of thunder when we collide, when our mouths join in a battle that has us groaning, panting, lips chasing and ravaging in an urgency that feels more like a fight to the death rather than a kiss.
“I’m not giving you an out this time.” Adam grunts against my lips, his body pinning me to the wall.
“I don’t want an out,” I tilt my head aside so his teeth can sink into my neck, whining at the familiar sting.
His lips curve to a smile against my skin, before he tackles me down to the floor.
I expect pain as I hit the ground, air leaving me in a startled huff, but he has one hand on the back of my head and the other on my back, cushioning my fall. “You should know to never let someone get you on the ground,” he reminds me as he presses me down.
“I’ve had a shitty teacher,” I grit out, fisting his hair and tugging him in for another kiss.
It’s so hard I’m sure our lips will bruise, but I don’t care one bit.
There’s no tenderness between us, no holding back, only need, and there isn’t a hint of regret plowing through me when he hikes up my knee, making my dress ride up. It’s another sundress that fits snugly on my body, and my grin is smug. Maybe that’s why he was so pissed.
I don’t care if we’re mad right now. It only makes me want him more.
I meant what I said.
I don’t want out. I’m falling right alongside him without ever wanting to stop it.
“Here?” Is all he asks, biting my jaw.
How do you want it? Is what he’s not asking. Do you want to be more comfortable? Do you want it gentle? Slow?
“Here,” I let out and reach down to grab him, slipping my hand into his boxers. No other place but here.
A few moments later my other leg is folded up, too, my panties are pushed aside, and the wide head of his cock is pushing inside me. The guttural whimper that slips out of me is more like cry of relief than anything else. Having him in me feels like coming home.
I think he feels the same, because he stills his movement, his breaths ragged in my ear. For a moment, we just stay like this; him nestled deep inside me, arms wrapped around me, pressed together, feeling each other. And then he starts rocking in and out of me, and I know it’s over.
The waiting. The doubts. Any fears that I had left. They all fade with each of his thrusts into me.
He doesn’t wait before building up a pace, but I like how it feels. Our argument already had me dripping, slicking me up for him, but knowing his movements would have been just as rough if I wasn’t sends a jolt of excitement down my spine. “Harder,” I blurt out, holding onto his shoulders.
“Always so bossy,” he grunts but complies, his teeth burrowing into my flesh as he tugs the fabric of my dress down until he can freely suck and bite.
We’re both desperate, and I know neither one of us will last long, but I don’t care. Mostly because I know there will be a next time. And another, and another. We’ll have each other for all that remains of the future.
The thought has me biting my lip harder than I intend to, and when my teeth break through the skin, Adam is there to soothe the pain, tongue swiping over the cut again and again, tasting my blood. The stains of it on his mouth when he pulls back are almost enough to make me come on their own.
It’s a filthy, deranged thought, but god, I can’t get enough of the sight of my blood on his lip.
It’s more than sex, the way he’s fucking into me, more than a kink or a deviation when I taste myself on his tongue, digging my nails into his back to make him bleed just the same.
It’s worship. Devotion. Assimilation of every part of ourselves until there isn’t a single bit that isn’t merged with the other.
“More,” I whimper and I don’t even know what it is that I need. I just want him to take more and more from me. To leave nothing but him in his wake.
He hooks my knees over his elbows, folding me in half, chuckling deviously when the angle makes me mewl and claw at his biceps.
“Oh god,” I choke out, feeling impaled, his dick reaching what feels like my lungs from how deep it presses inside me. “Adam—fuck, fuck, I’m—”
“Is my pretty little slut coming already?” There are equal parts of condescension and adoration in his voice and the multitude has me shuddering, convulsing, and then he keeps talking, coaxing me over the edge, praising me, kissing me with blood-stained lips, his voice echoing in my ears.
That’s it, good job, baby, fuck, so tight, you were made for me, made to take my cock—
“Adam,” I beg, dizzy and hoarse from crying out my climax, spasming when he taps my clit.
“Oh, look at you squirming,” he coos. “You need a break?”
I nod desperately.
“Too bad.” His grin is feral and I whimper, partially because of the onslaught of sensation, partially because, fuck, him being mean to me makes me so, so wet. “I’m not done getting off, and we both know you can take more than you think, can’t you?”
His fingers leave my clit, giving me a small reprieve, but his thrusts are unrelenting. He fucks into me with abandon, like there’s something inside me he has to reach, to conquer, to own. I want to tell him he already has it all, but the only thing that leaves my mouth is moans.
“When we find a house,” he grunts into my ear. “A home,” the correction comes with a pinch to my nipple. “I’m fucking you in every room. On every surface.”
“You better,” I manage to whine. I’m a sensitive, whimpering mess, but I’m still holding onto him, still giving as good as I get, my nails clawing at his shoulders.
“No matter where you look in our home, I want you to remember me fucking you there.” His voice catches in his throat and he buries his head in my neck. He’s hard, deep, as he grinds his hips into me. “Our home, Eve.”
I cradle his face with my palm. “I want it,” I beg. “You. Us. Everywhere—”
He groans, reaching down before I can finish my fragmented thought, and my words melt to a cry when his fingers meet my sensitive clit.
“Come on,” he coaxes in my ear. “Just one more. Do it for me. You can take it.”
“I can take it,” I chime after him, the words barely intelligible as he wrings more and more pleasure from me.
“Yes, you can.” His thumb plays me, his teeth closing over my pulse point, and he grinds into me so deep, so hard, so good—
I cry out his name when I come, arching off the hard floor, his body welcoming mine, fucking me through every spasm and moan until I’m spent, sagging beneath him.
“Adam,” I repeat, in a faint whisper, this time. My hands no longer scratch his back, instead cupping his face.
“You’re driving me fucking insane,” he groans, echoing his earlier words. His thrusts grow faster, his rhythm stuttering slightly. “When you say my name like that—”
“Adam, please.” I don’t even know what I’m begging for.
“Tell me what you need, love.” He’s panting, so close to his own edge, and that word undoes whatever sanity I have left in me.
“I need it,” I whimper. “Give me your cum, please, fill me up—”
His gravel-like grunt drowns out the rest, his teeth breaking through my already bruised skin, and I tighten around him with a wail, milking out his cock for more and more of his seed as he empties it deep inside me.
His warmth and weight on top of me, the raspy sound of his breaths, are almost enough for me to fall over another precipice. The knowledge that he’s just as lost in me as I am in him makes my heart leap.
I don’t think it’ll be over when we part, this time. I think the lines between us, limiting where I end and he begins, might be indefinitely blurred.
Finally.
He doesn’t pull out. Instead, he looks down at me, one hand cradling my cheek, his thumb smoothing over my skin.
Slowly, he reaches for his silver chain and tugs it up, over his head. The dog tags rattle against each other as he places the necklace on me instead.
Maybe for other people, the hard fuck on the floor would have been a mistake. Maybe other people would have seen it as falling back into a bad habit. The exact thing that we said we wouldn’t do again.
But there are no other people. There’s only us. Only my man with his eyes the color of ice, but with so much warmth in them as he gazes down at me, that I can feel my insides melting in their fire.
I do need him. And more than that, I want him. I’ll choose him again and again in a million lifetimes.
