Eve
It feels like we’re standing outside the house for a small eternity, taking it in silently. The size of it. The barn. The fields surrounding it, overgrown crops and endless green hillsides.
Wordlessly, Adam’s fingers intertwine with mine. His touch is like a reminder; it’s not going to be easy—it never has been, not since this new world began—but it’ll be worth it.
“What do you think?” he asks quietly, but looking into his eyes, I can tell he already knows.
I lean into his shoulder.
“I think we have some work to do.”
